No Quarterback

Arguably the worst O-line in the league

2 of our 3 starting WR's are not under contract anymore (Owens and Reed are out)

We have no Tight End

We have a completely undersized Defense which will require wholesale changes if anyone wants to change the scheme.

We have a farm league baseball marketing guy running the show

The Weather, arguably the worst amongst the entire NFL

So what? What are these former head coaches or current coordinators who have never been head coaches today? WIMPS? Spoiled arrogant jerks who need to have everything be perfect before they take on the biggest opportunity, or best new opportunity, of their lives?

If all of this crap is true, and frankly, I'm sick and tired of hearing this crap out of our own Bills fans, then this franchise should absolutley "get the hell out of town", as the very best Bills GM in the history of the team once told whiny fans to do. Just exactly when does any NFL team fire a head coach and decide to hire a different one? When they have a great QB, when they have arguably the best O-Line in football, when they have a great tight end, when they have a huge talented defense that needs no improvement at all, when they have the best genius GM in the history of the NFL working for them, and when they have the best weather in the country??????

The Bills are not the first NFL team to have these problems. The Bills are not the first NFL team to have an inexperienced man in charge of the operations. (But they have hired a real football guy in Buddy Nix, so that is one improvement you left out.) And guess what, it gets cold and shows in New York, Chicago, Denver, Kansas City, Philadelphia, Boston, and on and on.

Here is all any prospective head coach candidate needs to know about the Buffalo Bills "situation": It is one of only 32 NFL Head Coaching opportunities in the world. End of story.

Yes Stussy - all valid and agreeable points. You forgot - the teams future is basically day to day with the current ownership's age and lack of succession planning. Would you take a job where you have to deal with all of the items you list, plus cap to cash and the potential to have a new owner come in and want "his guy" in place. Unless you are starving for an opportunity...any opportunity, you would avoid this firestorm of the unknown.

Or

A very promising young nucleus on the line with Wood and Levitre and the fact they started 12 different players on the OL due to injury

Lee Evans one of the better WRs in the league with two decent young ones in S Johnson and Hardy

One of the best all purpose RBs in the league with a former Pro Bowler 2 yrs ago as his back-up

The best secondary in the NFL

Two Pro Bowl DTs on the line

One of the best ST in the league

A chance to make a couple tweaks and win the AFC East as they are not that far at all from the rest of the division

People way overestimate how bad the team is.....if they are so bad why were they winning or within one score in the 4th quarter of every game but one this year. B/c they are very close to being a good team and are very cmopetitive.

The biggest downside is the QB issue....but you tell the FO you take the job with the idea of going out and getting a QB like a McNabb in the offseason.

Coaches don't have a lot of job security, but the Buffalo job can't be viewed as much more than a stop-gap.

How do we know that Hardy and Johnson are decent receivers? With April gone, how do we know what the special team's performance will be? We do not know which Lynch we will have and if he will still be here in 2010.

What 2 Pro Bowl linemen are you talking about? One may retire and the other may revert back to form.

It is not the best secondary in the NFL, it is the most injured secondary in the NFL!

There is a ton of questions about this team right now, this team needs a coach that wants to rebuild it!

There is usually a reason a team is looking for a head coach. They suck! Not every coach can be Phil Jackson and go to a team with the best players.

The weather? Really? Seattle, Chicago, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Green Bay....

I thought Schuman was on his way to a great year prior to the injury. Shawn Nelson showed some flashes. TE is not a bare cupboard.

Don't forget to add Stupar to the list. He did a decent job at the end of the season. TE is at least 1 area where the Bills do not have to address immediately. Give Nelso some time to develop and learn to play at the Pro level and he could be a valuable addition to the offese to stretch the field a bit.

Buffalo in the past has been a HC killer. Greg Williams came here and has yet to recover from the stigma of how bad the team was while he was here. He reverted back to DC. Mike mularkey reverted back to QB coach at first, DJ may end up as a DC again. it takes balls to come in here and take over this team. You are essentially risking your resume and your career.

I think S Johnson showed very good promise last year. Good hands, very good route runner, etc...

Lynch made a Pro Bowl since everyone here seems to be obscessed with the fact that J Peters made pro bowls I just make the point with the other players on the team who made the pro bowl!

K Williams is a Pro Bowl alternate and M Stroud was last year as well, so by my count that is 2!

It is one of the best secondaries in the NFL and were top 5 pass defense....they were so go look it up! And that was with multiple injuries.

There are a ton of questions about every team. Look at New England, the Jets will have tons of questions as well next year as will the Dolphins. It happens EVERY year in the NFL. So you mean to tell me the Jets...a team the Bills beat this year as well as the Dolphins are miles ahead of the Bills? If they are then how come they LOST to the Bills. That makes them worse than the Bills.

Point being, you want to concentrate all on negatives but you have to acknowledge that this team actually does have some very good players as well.

Or, a coaching prospect could be thinking this:

QB - Would like to have that "franchise guy" just like 25 other teams. I need to see if Edwards has anything (will discuss this with my OC). Fitz looks like a capable backup. Brohm is a nice prospect too.

OL - Great talent on the interior with Wood, Levitre and Incognito ... but we need to address tackles as a priority.

WR - they have an underutilized star in Evans. Need to get him the ball.

TE - great prospect in Nelson. Shouman looks solid too.

Defense - they played great despite many injuries. Need to improve at LB and that will help a lot. Can use more help on DL to fortify run defense. The secondary has excellent talent and depth!

Kicking game is one of the best so there is talent there as well.

Marketing is awesome. Great attendance and a passionate fan base despite a 10 year playoff drought.

Weather - I have to build my team to take advantage of the weather and home field. This was sucessfully done by Polian and Levy ... let me look at what they did as a guide! A big OL and a power running game are needed to win in this division.

1) Promising young nucleus on the Line? They have no OT's that aren't injury concerns. OT's are much harder to find than G's.

2) Evans does not get the ball, because both the aforementioned OL is bad and the team has no QB.

3) RB's are not difficult to find, and more likely to be injured than most positions.

4) Secondaries are not as important as the front 7, in that they can be ripped apart without a pass rush.

5) They have one Pro Bowl alternate and an aging Stroud. How many times did MS get double-teamed? Not much

6) Special teams are nice, but they weren't spectacular, flagged regularly, and lost 2 games in 09. Not a stellar unit and will have a new coach.

7) If you think this team can win the AFCE next year, it's going to take a lot going right. As in the previous 6 items working out. They need no less than a starting caliber QB, LT, RT, and a SLB. Then, no one gets hurt because depth is a problem.

What did KC have going for them last year?

We have a Pro Bowl Rookie Safety and a top Pass Defense....in the "Pass Happy NFL"

We have 2 Solid RBs that are very productive.

We have a young line that when healthy is only getting better.

We have Plenty of Cap Room

You can name 100 Pros and cons to the Job. Some people will want it, some wont.

Do you think that Detroits fans whined like this last year? Coming off a 0-16 season, in which they fired just about everyone, and have an even more inempt owner than we do. Some coaches snubbed them and some didnt. It happens at every job.

Impressive point Kipers Hair.

He is right on the money with this one. You could go to JV (College) for a year and wait it out if you were a good candidate.

I know if I were a premier HC candidate, I wouldnt even answer the phone if the Bills called. ZERO SUCCESSION plan publicly stated, RW's kids could give a **** about this team.

Why put yourself into this situation, when you can wait it out a year and look at other possible opportunities?
