Jay Rockefeller asks NFL to open their books

I am having a hard time believing it myself. "Stop picking on the conglomerates! They want what's best for everyone!" -

Sharpen the guillotines. Things are gonna get worse..... -
Ugh. I think you are too easily impressed.....

That context doesn't change my impression of what he said AT ALL. It's a guy falling into the trap of listening to his PR team (using the term "icon" to refer to himself?) "What we're going to establish for you Cam, is an iconic presence"

Greatest season by Bills rookie
Geno Smith's Arm replied to Charles Romes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know if the stats are that remarkable, but Thurman Thomas had everyone real excited. Plus, the excitement turned out to be warranted. -
I deny this. I don't see much potential in Maybin (Spiller I can see). I see an Erik Flowers-type of career.

Thanks! I get the sense that they feel they can improve the O-line without spending high picks on it. I think they can too. Sure didn't sound like a great endorsement for Fitz.

He is insufferable. A douche. Is this a guy I'm gonna have to root for? Did he mention "Branding" too (if not, he will soon). In the third person ("Cam Newton is a brand").

Quarterbacks Behaving Badly
Geno Smith's Arm replied to CosmicBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I could easily see a situation where people that are going into a public bathroom to have sex (especially someone famous), would have someone stand at the door to deter people from entering. That doesn't mean he was intending to rape the girl (she did enter the bathroom with him on her on free will, as far as I know). -

Vick has exhibited a whole bunch of psychopathic traits. That's considered "uncontrollable". Big Benny, while I am pretty convinced that he is a creep, has mostly "circumstantial" evidence, and lot's of "he said/she said" type of situations, so there is a chance that he is just an arrogant, immature, chauvanistic, and entitled fool that has been so coddled that he thinks no woman should resist his charms. I could see, with the way athletes are treated these days (gee, it appears the Jets have their own "happy-ending" staff), that actually being the case with Big Benny. I expect Vick will be back in jail eventually (though some would contend that the fact that he is black puts him at odds with "The Man", and works against him, and I tend to agree). I really think they are both just wealthy and talented losers. -

Which one do people consider more likely to get into serious trouble again? -

Which hurts more, a kick to the right ball, or a kick to the left ball? Both. -
Does Defense really win Championships?
Geno Smith's Arm replied to SoggyHog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you are onto something there. Obviously if both teams are n the Super Bowl, then following the "Defense wins championships" maxim, both teams must have outstanding defenses. Someone has to make a play against the defense! -
Judging the draft specialists
Geno Smith's Arm replied to Niagara Bill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting to read those post. The best one was "I'm getting that Donte Whitner- type sick feeling in my stomach". If only he was as good as Whitner, maybe he could get on the field. -
I think the biggest part of the problem is that they chase after a certain position and make desperate decisions and I don't think it is the scouting department (at least the lions share of the blame). And that after a player comes to Buffalo, he finds himself on a team without a good quarterback that loses lots of games, and a team that lacks leadership and motivation because it is so deep in a hole. I beleive that some of the players would have much better careers if they had been chosen by a better organization. They haven't developed players well in Buffalo.

It's just a nice catchphrase. Bill Parcells used to say it, and he won two Super Bowls (with a team that happened to have the greatest defensive player ever on it), so everything he says is right. Bill Parcells was such an egomaniac, that he hated QB's because he wanted to be the focus of the team (and media). He wanted to be "the Michael Jordan" (remember when players would bicker about who was "the Michael Jordan" on their teams?). "Teams win championships!" How's that one? I think teams can focus on what the talent on hand can accomplish. If you have a great offensive coordinator and a nice array of weapons you can emphasize offense. I know about applying drafting philosophy, but you don't avoid drafting some great offensive talent just because you're the Baltimore Ravens or something. "Nah, we don't DO offense" -
Dave Duerson death was a suicide

There seemed to be a large number of people complaining about the NFL enforcing the hits to the head rule. Like they have too see receivers having their head removed to enjoy an NFL game.... -
WAIT A MINUTE MAN! You forgot a VERY special player, a guy with a ton of potential (Tom Brady-like) who hasn't been given a chance to show what he can do with real bullets flying (instead of every day at practice, or in the pre-season games) LEVI BROWN! shame on you! I don't know about Newton, but after watching that youtube clipof long throws, I hope they don't draft any of those Auburn receivers!

Warren Sapp rates Dareus over Fairley
Geno Smith's Arm replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i remember that well, but oddly enough I kinda hold off from judging that type of "legal" hit, because you never know what else had transpired between those players. It's possible that the Packers had been taking some dangerous cheap shots at Sapp earlier. I don't like Sapp though. I'd be happy with either of them. -
new gbn mock - first three rounds
Geno Smith's Arm replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think they could have won a Super Bowl with a number of other QB's that were playing at that time. That team was loaded with great players, many of them obtained using the Herschel Walker picks. -

I wouldn't argue with that..... -

That's funny because Sapp and Fairley look alike, and seem to have similar personalities. -
I don't think you can hold the current regime responsible for the picks they didn't make. I don't mind so much that they haven't made many front 7 1st round selections, what pisses me off is that the PLAYERS that they have chosen haven't turned out. It's not the positions of the players that they are screwing up, it;'s that the guys don't pan out often enough.
