  1. I'd go with Maddow; she has better birthing hips, and looks like she would be better able to help out with chores. Coulter looks like her bones would break from any heavy duty action, and then she would expect you to wait on her.
  2. (CNN) – Levi Johnston, the father of Sarah Palin's grandchild Tripp and fiance of daughter Bristol, quit his job earlier this week after reports that his lack of a high school diploma made him ineligible for the apprentice position he'd held since fall. Johnston's father Keith told the Anchorage Daily News that his son felt the move was "the best thing to do to kind of calm the waters, so to speak," and that his son's missing educational qualification was "just something that slipped through the cracks." "You guys are watching him so tightly," Johnston told the paper. "He's being treated different than an average 18-year-old kid. He has to do everything by the book now." Palin herself called the report a "a political potshot taken at me," that could "destroy a young man's opportunity for work." Welcome to the real world kid, where the majority of us have to do everything by the book if we want a job.
  3. He was invited to come in and watch the swearing in ceremony, just not participate in it. And Al Frankin isn't being sworn in yet, even though he has been certified by his sec. of state as winning his election, while Burris does not yet have the required sign-off from the Illinois sec. of state.
  4. He's a politician. He wants to secure the New York Jewish vote for his next run for mayor / senator / governor.
  5. I liked when he was at an asian summit, walked to the door to leave, tried opening the door, and it was locked. He just stood there with a look like he didn't know what to do next. It summarized his presidency of expecting a certain result from his actions, and when those results didn't happen he didn't know what to do next.
  6. This is true, people without preventative healthcare use the most expensive service, the emergency room, for services that would cheaper to provide from a primary physician. But since they can't afford one they go to what's available. Give them preventative healthcare with a primary physician, and emergency room costs would go down.
  7. Bristol Palin, the teenage daughter of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, is going on the record about the recent birth of her son, Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston. In a statement dated Wednesday but posted on the Alaska governor's Web site Friday, Bristol says the pregnancy was "not ideal," but is thankful to have a family who supported her. “Teenagers need to prevent pregnancy to begin with – this isn’t ideal. But I’m fortunate to have a supportive family which is dealing with this together," Bristol Palin said in the statement. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/...ideal/#comments So is she advocating birth control for teens? And given it's posted on the Alaska governor's website, is this an endorsement of such policy by the Alaskan governor?
  8. I just watched Denver owner Pat Bowlen's press conference. He was asked what he wanted from a new coach, and he said he wanted to win the Super Bowl. He wasn't satisfied with having a winning record or just making the playoffs. That's the difference between a committed owner and one like Ralph who settles for mediocrity.
  9. They would blame it on the lack of fan support.
  10. I don't care about whether the players like the coach, as long as they respect him. I played for coaches when I was in high school that I didn't like at the time because of how hard they made us work, but I respected them, and looking back I understand why they were hard on us, and it made us better players in the end.
  11. I was watching ESPN last night and the ticker said Shanahan was let go, and I got excited about the possibility of him coming to Buffalo, and then the next ticker line said the Bills kept Jauron. I had the "wide right" feeling of disappointment. The Bills have become the LA Clippers of the NFL; satisfied with mediocrity.
  12. Home: Miami, New England, N.Y. Jets, Houston, Indianapolis, Cleveland, New Orleans, Tampa Bay Away: Miami, New England, N.Y. Jets, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Kansas City, Atlanta, Carolina 3 wins at home, 1 on the road, and they get lucky in 1 for a 5-11 record if Dick is still the coach.
  13. Actually the fact that the whales were extinct was what pissed off the aliens who had come back to check on them, and Kirk and crew had to go back to the past to retrieve a pair that would communicate with the aliens and save the earth.
  14. Pats 33 Bills 16, and Dick still keeps his job!
  15. Artie Baby Boo boo, the tiny tot of the kilowatt, Art Wander.
  16. I think he should sell the Senate seat to the highest bidder, as long as it's in the open and the money goes into the state treasury. Put an opening bid price of $100 million on it and see who bites.
  17. He's the coach of the Bills, but I haven't seen proof that he's coaching the Bills.
  18. Hard to tell since they won't disclose the technology for public scrutiny, let alone admit it exists.
  19. You'll have to ask the poster, he's the one who inferred that the way out of poverty is the military. And there are many people who can't secure loans sufficient to cover college expenses, so they don't view it as a viable alternative. Military service is a fine profession, but it should be chosen for positive reasons, not because one feels they have no other options.
  20. That's a sad statement about the lack of opportunity that their only option to better their lives was to put them on the line in the military, while those better off can afford to have the option of going to college or trade schools.
  21. While I am not impressed with Kennedy and would rather someone like Cuomo get appointed, one thing she does bring to the table is a friendship with Obama, who owes her for her support, and for a freshman senator to have that close association with the president which could influence some decisions in favor of New York State is not a bad thing.
  22. No, that was Tanaka. Tatonka was an indian wrestler in the WWF, with the usual war bonnet and dance. He made some appearances last year.
  23. Because dufus, they make more money by monopolizing the energy resources and limiting our choices of affortable alternatives. It is naive to think that nobody has invented technology that would do better than mass-produced 30mph gas fueled engines.
  24. It's only fair, since Bush and corporations have taken the middle class down to lower economic class status. Somebody has to fill the void in the middle class.
  25. You got the relevence of the story. I find it amusing that those complaining it's not a story or I'm fixated on Palin have more posts in this thread than me. Thanks for the laugh.
