Because having more people collecting unemployment, not paying payroll taxes, and reducing consumer spending is really going to help turn the economy around.

Can they do it? DET and 0 - 16

I heard the Lions made inquiries to the NFL about the end of season flex scheduling for Sunday nights, and asked if they could be flexed into playing the Bills in a home-and-home. -
I don't understand why an extension couldn't have waited until after the season. It's not like there's other teams just waiting for Dick to be available so they can hire him to be their savior.

It becomes more and more clear to me
PastaJoe replied to Like A Mofo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I predict the next innovation in pro sports stadium revenue will be to build condos on one side of the stadium, with windows or balconies overlooking the fields. They'll sell them for a couple million each with annual PLLs (Personal Living Licenses). -
What happened to the press box relocation project at RWS?
PastaJoe replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I heard Ralph bathes in virgin blood to stay alive. The press box was moved...to Toronto. -
Ill. Governor arrested on corruption charges
PastaJoe replied to stuckincincy's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
So if he had been honest about it from the beginning, nobody on the right would have complained? Employers frown upon it because they don't want to be liable in lawsuits. There was no lawsuit forthcoming from this relationship. -
Bailout Deal Looks Dead
PastaJoe replied to molson_golden2002's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Perhaps they have more experience, or the cost of living in the north and larger cities is more than the rural south. The unions negotiated for those wages, if the companies didn't think they could be profitable with those wage levels then they shouldn't have agreed to them. Don't sign contracts and then complain about how they're unfair. One could ask what skills do the non-UAW workers lack that would justify paying them $5 less than union workers? Or are they just being taken advantage of in economically depressed areas that are desperate for jobs even if they underpay? -
Bailout Deal Looks Dead
PastaJoe replied to molson_golden2002's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
That was a loan, and it was payed back to the gov't with interest. We actually made a profit on the deal while keeping them in business. -
I think that's the key. If it said "worked great", the guy could claim he figured someone could buy it and repair it. Past tense is past tense.

I never understood putting blue cheese on wings. That just smothers the taste. It's like putting Miracle Whip on pizza.

Arena League expected to cancel 2009 season
PastaJoe replied to RLflutie7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought he was auditioning last week for the CFL. Since he kept overthrowing the receivers he must have been showing how he would do with the bigger field. -
Joe "The Plumber" Wurzelbacher, the Ohio voter who challenged President-elect Barack Obama on his tax plan and later became a hero of John McCain's presidential bid, said Tuesday he felt "appalled" at some of his interactions with the Arizona senator, and soon felt the need to ditch his campaign. Speaking with conservative talk-radio host Glenn Beck, Wurzelbacher said he was specifically at odds with McCain's support over the massive $700 billion bailout, a measure many conservatives opposed despite McCain's attempts to shepherd the bill on Capitol Hill. “When I was on the bus with him, I asked him a lot of questions about the bailout because most Americans did not want that to happen,” Wurzelbacher told Beck. “I asked him some pretty direct questions,” he continued. “Some of the answers…they appalled me, absolutely. I was angry. "In fact, I wanted to get off the bus after I talked to him." Despite his disappointment with McCain though, Wurzelbacher praised Palin as "absolutely the real deal." http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/...ain/#more-32308

Is he cooking the wings or sleeping with them? He sounds as passionate about them as Brad Garrett's mechanic character on Seinfeld did about Jerry's car.

Is there a chance that Edwards..
PastaJoe replied to canbuffan34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Edwards can't play, they should either put Hamdan in to see if he's a viable backup for next year, or put Brian Moorman behind center and run the Wildcat. -
Question For Long Time Posters
PastaJoe replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
People these days have a shorter fuse given all the concern about the economy and whether your job will be the next to go. We look to sports as a temporary distraction to give us some cheer, and then when the Bills tank and the Sabres slide it just increases the sense of frustration, especially for those who make a financial investment in watching the teams. -
Bills players appearing: JP Losman, James Hardy, and Duke Preston. They'll all be trying someing new; Focus on a drive.

Go with the traps with a little peanut butter placed against a wall. I live near a field so we get a couple every winter. Funny thing with the last one I trapped was that it got caught across the body instead of the neck like usual, but only the back half of the mouse was in the trap. The front half must have crawled away somewhere with it's last breath. Still haven't found it.

State of Illinois boycotting Bank of America
PastaJoe replied to Hazed and Amuzed's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It's a federal law. Workers were given three days' notice that they were losing their jobs, but federal law requires either 60 days' notice or 60 days' pay for the laid-off workers of companies that employee 200 or more. When my company of +200 employees in New York closed, they had to give us 60 days notice. -
I'm saying make the tax variable so that if the price without the tax drops below $2.50, the amount between $2.50 and the actual cost be collected as taxes, so the base price is $2.50. If it goes over that price without the tax, then the tax wouldn't apply. $2.50 is a reasonable price that is not too high, but enough to make people consider more efficient cars and less consumption.
