For a second I thought when you said 'self-made man', you were talking about Obama, then I saw who posted it. Romney was born on third base, hit a single, and is now proclaimed as a business home run hitter. This guy never had to worry about failing and could take more risks, because he knew that he could go broke and still have his family bail him out, find him other opportunities through their contacts, and provide health care for him and his family. Like another recent president who shall go nameless. Obama didn't have any such advantage. So who is more in touch with what the average American's life is like? You guys are so sensitive over the fact that Republicans have policies that turn away minorities (immigration, education, job training, social safety net) that you try to laugh it away as being called racist. See how well that works in this and future elections. And try to understand the irony of your last sentence. The most fitting comment that I heard on Eastwood's speech was: It's the perfect representation of today's Republican party - An old white guy arguing with their distorted imaginary vision of who Obama really is.

I think you're confusing Paul Ryan with Khan from Star Trek. It's the case because they're either too lazy or too stupid to take 5 minutes to find out what religion he is, where he was born, and what policies he advocates. If Palin is such an intellectual and was right about so much, why isn't she being allowed to speak at the RNC? Surely, someone with such wisdom and a loyal following should be given time to educate the masses. Come to think of it, they aren't even letting the last Republican President speak. Aren't they proud of his accomplishments as a supply-sider and commander-in-chief? The last Democrat President is speaking at the DNC.

Willard's not a birther. He's also not 'severely conservative'. Which makes this even worse. He is so desperate for the ri-white wingers to turn out to vote, given that he's lost the minority vote and is significantly behind with the women's vote, that he will say anything at this point to reinforce the beliefs that the ri-white wingers have, even though he doesn't believe them. The man has no backbone. And picking Ryan just added to it. Their only hope to win is to get the angry ri-whites to vote, while conservatives try to suppress minority voters in Ohio, Penn., and Florida. What's more significant is that Romney now says that American businesses are doing well. "Big business is doing fine in many places – they get the loans they need, they can deal with all the regulation. They know how to find ways to get through the tax code, save money by putting various things in the places where there are low tax havens around the world for their businesses." Well we know Willard is an expert at that, given the limited view of his taxes. What this issue shines a light on is the beliefs and actions of Paul Ryan, and the Ryan-Akin co-sponsored bill that affirms that from the moment of fertilization onward, “every human being shall have all the legal and constitutional attributes and privileges of personhood.” It then says that Congress and the states have the “authority” to protect all human beings — again, defined as human life from fertilization onward — residing in their juristictions. What that means is that Ryan wants to ban abortion even due to rape or incest, and would in effect ban in vitro fertilization since that procedure usually requires the destruction of embryos, which is as extreme anti-choice as one can get. In addition, Akin and Ryan had both co-sponsored another measure, that would distinguish “forcible rape” in banning abortion funding. These are the type of extremists that Romney had to become "severely conservative" for to win the nomination, and would be the people he would be indebted to if he became president. He won the primary battle, but these are the "death by 1000 cuts" that are going to lose him the election among independents and moderates.

I don't mean start Vince over Ryan, just give him a couple series before the 1st team sits. How would he do if Fitz got hurt. It would only be a controversy if he outplayed Fitz. And if he did, then that's on Fitz.

I'd like to see what Vince could do with the 1st team offense with some better blockers. Hopefully next week.

If a VP nominee gets announced on a Saturday morning during the Olympics, does it make a sound? The timing would have been more appropriate for coming clean with a tax return dump. This was a great pick...for Obama. When voters, especially the elderly, are educated on the details of the Ryan plan that Romney now owns; taxing employer-provided health care, vouchers for Medicare, and privitizing Social Security, while providing further unfunded tax cuts for the wealthy in hopes they will "trickle down" on us, it will further define the class divide that the Republicans want to implement. In addition, the lack of foreign policy experience on the Republican ticket is suprising. When was the last time that a Republican ticket didn't have experience in either candidate? That was one of the assets that Biden brought to Obama, and now Obama has his own foreign policy / commander in chief successes to run on. The further this campaign goes on, the more confident I am that Obama will be re-elected. Then on to 2016 and Hillary!

Shouldn't they be given tax breaks? I thought the more you make, the less you should pay in taxes, because then they'll be more likely to trickle it down on the less profitable members of society.

Willard went 3 for 3 on his foreign trip. First he insults the British over his Olympic comments. Then in Israel he insults the Palestinians about their culture and throws gasoline on the fire by saying he'd move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, while giving the right-wingers in Israel carte blanche to attack Iran and start another war in the Middle East, and of course it would be up to the U.S. to clean up the mess and suffer the economic consequences. And for the hat trick in Poland, at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Willard's aid told the press to, “Kiss my ass. This is a holy site for the Polish people.
