  1. 11-5. DJ comes in 2nd for COY honors, behind Mike Smith of ATL.
  2. Josh Reed = 40pt game on Sunday. Trent with throw for 300 and 3 TD's.
  3. I dont have exact numbers, but I think we all know the % of 1st round busts. It is no guarantee that just b/c we draft a DL or OL in the first round (or 2nd), they are going to shore us up (see McCargo, Mike Williams, etc). What teams would you say have the best OL - Titans, Pats, Giants? How many of their lineman were drafted in the 1st round? One thing they all have in common is a stud C - which we obviously dont. I think that is our biggest fault this year as we have played 4 stud nose tackles in a row and Preston/Fowler obv cant handle them. Butler being out has also hurt us, as Whittle is awful. You are reaching for an argument calling us 'lucky' to have Peters - isnt that what our coaches & scouts are paid to do - find a young talent and coach him up to maximize his potential? I also think you underestimate Kyle Williams. In the scheme we run, he is solid. Our middle has not been the problem this year at all (look at our rush defense), you can put that squarly on our DE's. We obviously cant rebuild all 22 of our starting positions in 1 or 2 years, but you have to admit that our front office has made strides the last 2 years to change our recent course of the TD era. Schobel being out hurts more than we think, and our FO probably overestimated the potential of Kelsay, S Johnson, and Denney. If Crowell was healthy, I think we would be in a much better position as well - Ellison is a ST or backup, period. It just boggles my mind how you put 0 importance on over 1/3 of our defense. Too many expect every position to be chalk full of stars and first rounders - but that just cant happen. I think this off season we upgrade our C, DE and TE positions; which SHOULD put us in a much better position in 09 - barring any major injuries. And TE waking up from his coma.
  4. Reading that makes me sick. He should be fired for his post game bullsh!t. 3 weeks in a row we've had to listen to that "Well, we'd rather be 8-0, but we're 5-3, and I'll take that, especially considereing where we were last year". repeat. This week he couldnt use the "esp compared to last year" since we are now the same. How do you say that? How does that not come across except as accepting defeat? How do players like to hear that?
  5. So if you dont want to draft DB's in rounds 3, 4, or 5 either, when should the Bills get their secondary? DL and OL cant cover WR's. Where on the fence would you be sitting if the Bills had a good passrush and stud DL, but sh!tty corners, and QB's were lighting us up with quick passes? The likes of Winslow, Edwards, Moss, Ginn (we saw what happens to a sh!tty corner against him), Favre, etc would eat us up. Good DB's give our DL more time to get to the passer. Our front office has done exactly what you wanted them to do the last 2 off seasons - signing Dockery, Walker for the OL, and trading for Stroud on the DL - which I'm sure they throught Stroud would help out their DE, but its obvious after Schobel, its a HUGE dropoff in DE talent.
  6. You're an idiot. Why dont you go listen to the press conference before making up quotes. Your first sentence is completely false.
  7. pretty simple - we played tight with Miami (until the end) on the road, and KC is 1-10. KC obviously hasnt been too tough at home since they've lost all but 1. Regarding Gore - what RB has torched us this year (please save the Harrison run from last night)? Our rush def has been solid all year....and please, I am not scared of Shaun Hill playing us in Buffalo.
  8. Ok, ok, I am as devastated as anyone else about the loss last night, but I think we all know how we feel about DJ, Trent, etc by now, and how bad Bills fans have it. If anything comes out of last nights game, it is that our running game finally made an impact, our defense can get to the QB, and our return game is back. We have 2 winnable games the next 2 weeks, with Miami in Toronto to follow. KC and San Fran have very weak rush defenses, I really think that we come out and pound it down their throats with ML and Fred. I hope that DJ and Turk know they need to do this to bring TE's confidence back up. As bad as he looked last night, I do have to agree (to an extent) with his 'excuse' of teams dropping 8 guys in coverage making it tough. Teams are doubling Lee, and outside of him we have a couple rookies, a servicable tight end, and roscoe. Josh Reed was an experienced vet that knew where to find holes - I think Trent trused Josh and would make those 'anticipated' throws that Jaws referred to last night. The only way to open the passing game up for trent is to get the running game going. But, with that said, he needs to grow up quickly. If we can somehow pull out the next 2 or 3 games, we should have some confidence going into the home stretch against the Jets, Broncos, and Pats. We will find out alot about this team the next 6 weeks, but I am not giving up hope yet!
  9. I'm not an ESPN hater, but I must say the first 5 minutes of MNF football is outrageous: 1) Merryl Hodge talks about the Bills 5 game winning streak to start the season 2) Suzy Kolber reports and talks about Edwards concussion in week 7 and the possible after effects causing the 3 game losing streak 3) whomever talking about Brady Quinn being happy to finally being home, playing in Cleveland tonight. Really?
  10. I completely agree with the lack of emotion - I could name you 20 coaches who would have been running on to the field waving their red flag, tackling a ref to make sure his challenge flag was seen. The coach across the field is one of those 20. I refuse to accept "its on me, I guess I should have run to get the refs attention" after the game in his press conference. You are a coach in the NFL - you dont get silly excuses like that. Make a stand for your team, fight for them, do something. DJ's Press Conferences are horrid (execute, like what we did, blah blah blah) - BUT you need to listen to these reporters questions. No one asks him tough questions, no one challenges him. "How much was todays troubles attributed to your opponent?", "Where do you need to get better", "How is Trent doing", blah blah blah. how about asking "Why didnt you fight harder if you really wanted to challenge welkers catch - it was pretty obvious how big of a play that was, putting the pats at the 15 yard line, did you really think the ref would see it as your dropped it by your foot 30 yards away?" OR "where's the emotion on this team, where is the fight, why did you look so flat all day?" OR "what are you going to do about the problem at C and RG? 3 weeks in a row, teams with dominant DT have had their way with them, how do you plan to amend this for next week?" OR "Why do you keep abandoning the run every week? when you get 7 yards on 1st down, why pass it from shotgun on 2nd and 3rd down - especially after you just picked up 2 first downs from running the ball?" OR "You harp on mental mistakes after every game, yet it still happens every week. What are you doing wrong here?"
  11. F&**&$(#(#(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he was becoming our best corner (maybe just in the nickel) - with apologizes to Greer.
  12. yes, i expect it...but will we? who knows. The only good thing is the complete parity of the AFC as a whole - our only stiff competition in my eyes for a playoff berth lies within the AFC East. Starting out 0-2 was not the way to do it; and on paper it is reasonable to expect we go 0-3. But, IFFFF we can get healthy, I can see us turning around and sweeping them with home games vs NE and Miami..and we dont seem to have a problem beat NYJ in their place. I think Youboty's absence is hurting us more than people may think - dude was a stud the first couple games. This is a game our offense needs to win for the team. Wes Welker scares me matched up against a rookie.
  13. For the record, my post of the tie-breakers was not to back your argument up. Not to pile on or bash.....but.....Wins-Losses is the first and utmost tie breaker, followed by various scenarios with division record, conference record, head to head etc. There is no point trying to make sure that the Bills could possibly win tie-breaker # 7, if it never even gets to it. Win-Loss is the first determining factor. Period. Besides, the top 4 or 5 tie breakers only relate to head to head record, division record, or conference record....having nothing to do with the NFC. 5-0...go BILLS!
  14. Hopefully this puts this ridiculous post to a rest: The six postseason participants from each conference will be seeded as follows: 1. The division champion with the best record. 2. The division champion with the second-best record. 3. The division champion with the third-best record. 4. The division champion with the fourth-best record. 5. The Wild Card club with the best record. 6. The Wild Card club with the second-best record. The following procedures will be used to break standings ties for postseason playoffs and to determine regular-season schedules. NOTE: Tie games count as one-half win and one-half loss for both clubs. TO BREAK A TIE WITHIN A DIVISION If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined. Two Clubs 1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs). 2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division. 3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games. 4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. 5. Strength of victory. 6. Strength of schedule. 7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed. 8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed. 9. Best net points in common games. 10. Best net points in all games. 11. Best net touchdowns in all games. Three or More Clubs (Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated during any step, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of the two-club format). 1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games among the clubs). TO BREAK A TIE FOR THE WILD-CARD TEAM OR AMONG DIVISION WINNERS If it is necessary to break ties to determine the two Wild-Card clubs from each conference, the following steps will be taken. 1. If the tied clubs are from the same division, apply division tie breaker. 2. If the tied clubs are from different divisions, apply the following steps. Two Clubs 1. Head-to-head, if applicable. 2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. 3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four. 4. Strength of victory. 5. Strength of schedule. 6. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed. 7. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed. 8. Best net points in conference games. 9. Best net points in all games. 10. Best net touchdowns in all games. 11. Coin toss. Three or More Clubs (Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of applicable two-club format.) 1. Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants. 2. Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.) 3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. 4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four. 5. Strength of victory. 6. Strength of schedule. 7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed. 8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed. 9. Best net points in conference games. 10. Best net points in all games. 11. Best net touchdowns in all games. 12. Coin toss
  15. Both of you jokers go crawl back into a hole. what can the Bills do to make you feel better about a 2-0 start? every team has injuries, i'm sick of hearing about that as excuses for the first 2 weeks. did we get a mulligan last year since we had 134 guys in IR? no. play-calling? really? We moved the ball all day; and had the ball for 1:30 (or something close) in the 3rd quarter; and we scored on both possessions in the 4th quarter. what else do you want? yes, tackling was bad; but Garrard is a big dude, and who knows if the sweat, wetness, heat or whatever played a factor. i'm not too worried about our defense as we have for the most part shut down Seattle and J-Ville.
  16. agreed. we looked really really good today, and mitchell and stroud were HUGGGGEEE. best off season moves in the league...completely changed our D. Playoffs and then Super Bowl. lets stay injury free baby!!!
  17. hey - GREAT NEWS!!! Peters DID not get injured in training camp or preseason and is NOT on IR!! my my, how one player reporting that i hated so badly i love so much now.
  18. we're gonna get ZORNED! oh wait, he's with the skins. Bills 24 Hawks - 17. ML and Lee Lee both top 100 yards, Roscoe returns punt for TD.
  19. i love all the enthusiasm about Poz, i love him to, but his last two (or 3?) football seasons he's been hurt. how do we know this guy can stay on the field more than half a season- if that?
  20. agreed with LB's being replaceable (although i was angry in the draft when we drafted Chris Ellis instead of Dan Conner). Crowell was by no means going to get a ton of $$ thrown at him (less than Mitchell for sure IMO), and this scenario could be spun 20 different ways, but say we do let him go, we will need to find a replacment starter (if we agree Ellison is not that guy). Do we do it through the draft in 1st round? If so, he'll be pricey...prob same cost as Crowell. The thing that bothers me is the front office - the lack of communication or whatever. It baffles me that he's had this injury that needed to be scoped, yet went through all of preseason w/o much of a blip on the radar on an injury, and now week 1 he decideds to get it done and jauron is 'shocked'. If they werent going to re-sign him, tell him in the off season, so he gets it done, goes out and has a great year and that way he can sign a nice deal elsewhere. if we knew we werent going to re-sign him, what good does he do us on the sidelines this year....our 'playoff' year? season needs to start already...i'm sick of reading, talking, and arguing about our front office issues.
  21. Fantasy Pundits. They suck. All of them. Washington Post team by team 'capsules' of each team was talking up Buffalo b/c Jason Peters is anchoring our line and we are going to blow people off the ball this week! Really?? Any how about this idiot: http://sports.espn.go.com/fantasy/football...?page=tmr080904 And this one: http://www.nfl.com/fantasy/story?id=09000d...mp;confirm=true I love the quotes on Lee Evans, and Matt Hassleback. Apparently they forgot about Seattles MASSIVE injuries on the WR and suspensions on defense...and oh, Matts injury. The NFL PUNDIT really broke down Lee well because since he had a bad year last year he is going to suck this year...and the ESPN guy, Lee made him lose his hair last year. and thats just the BS on the Bills/Seahawks game. F these guys. F our front office. and F the seahawks DAMNIT!
  22. whatever. i would do the same thing as him if our management is going to be tightfisted. He's prob going to get it fixed, come back play 8-10 games...play very well..and say f- buffalo, i'm testing FA market. And then, once again, we are left looking to the draft to find a replacement starter. again. so we pick one in 1st round, pay him a ton, and the circle begins again. Crowell has been our one common theme the last several years on defense, and he is a playmaker - not an all star - but a playmaker on a team that has been crappy. f the Bills front office, I cant deal with them anymore. I'd rather them move with a new owner so we can start keeping our good players instead of having george willsons, keith ellisons, josh reeds, etc etc be our core. You know there is no way in hell that in a perfect world Trent and ML become studs, that we will pay both of them - AND lee evans.
