  1. I understand the spirit of your arguement, but your point is lost. In this instance, would it have mattered which team took Brees? He was basically a bust until the last year of his rookie deal. Then he got hurt and they let him go. No one wanted him. It's easy to say just take a QB so you have one, but what good would it have done us to take him? We'd be his farm team instead of SD? At least when Clements played for us, he was a good player. It's an undeniable fact that you can't win in this league without a good QB, but just because you picka guy in the first round doesn't mean he will become a good QB. More often than not, they are not that good. If they were, you'd never see players like Todd Collins, generic Raiders backup QB, Kurt Warner and Shaun Hill would not have been starting last year.
  2. I think they keep him as a pass rushing specialist - meaning he only plays on obvious passing downs and will most likely rush the passer on 95% of those plays. They will probably move him around a bit (from side to side) and also play a few four man fronts so he can rush with his hand down. They will not ask him to defend the run in obvious running situations and will probably only ask him to cover a flat in a zone blitz type situation. I do think he will be able to cover the short area, since he did a lot of that under Williams when we played a zone blitz almost exclusively. I think the move to a 3-4 is to help disguise things better, but the overall philosophy of the defense (i.e. 1 gap) will stay the same. They will probably try to incorporate more 2 gap principles as they get the players to do so. I could see the defense trying to create matchups while rushing, so I expect all pass rushers to be moved around a bit.
  3. I've read abotu the Parcells 3-4 and the other types as well and have to think that from Edwards' comments, the Parcells defense will be the goal in 2 or 3 years, while in the meantime they will go with something they have the personel for. I have a gut feeling (especially if Schobel returns) that they will play a one gap 3-4 with some two gap principles when it makes sense and if they have the personel. I see them trying to get a rotational NT for now that they can use in obvious running situations and then go light on the DL in passing situations. Also bet Schbel plays with his hand on the ground in passing situations. I have a feeling it will look a lot like the defense we play now, jus twith more varieties of blitzes - maybe like what they played under GW.
  4. Have fun in Vancouver - Go Miller! I think Vick is done. I don't think he has the desirable traits necessary to be a good every down QB in this league. You can only run around some much befor eyou get caught and when that happens when you're on the wrong side of 30, you get hurt. That said, if they brought him in, and used him correctly, I could see how we might have a pretty good running game. We would definitely need a speedier back on the team to take advantage though. Maybe we could run the option...
  5. I'll bet they still play a lot of cover 2 in the back field this year. Also, I think that was more about his ability to play CB. Playing centerfield like he does translates well into any defense.
  6. So when is the right time to buy www.losanglesjaguars.com? or something similar?
  7. Doubtful - they just signed his coach at LSU to be the new WR coach. Otherwise I would have agreed with you. I think in the end it will be a good thing since it will mean one less position we need.
  8. I'r rather let Incognito play RG and have Wood and Hangartner duke it out for the C spot.
  9. This guy thinks so too: http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2010/2/4/1...ed-time-to-make
  10. I agree with most of what you said. I just don't see Harris making the team next year. Ellison could stay because he's an RFA, but I guess another team might try to sign him from us (maybe the lack of UFAs will cause more teams to look at the RFAs seriously). I think Stroud can play DE and so can WIlliams, but we still need an NT.
  11. So you are the only one who knows that all four of these players are NFL ready right now? And every team will pass on them? I'd bring back Seth McKinney, Kendall Simmons, and maybe even go out and dig up Mike Gandy before I put four rookies on the oline. Oh yeah, not to mention I'd take Butler and Hangartner too. If we had the first five picks in the draft and could take anyone we wanted and decided to take all olinemen, I wouldn't start four of them - or even three of them for that matter.
  12. No !@#$, it was in poor taste because you made light of a human being dying. That guy is family to someone (insert redneck incest joke here).
  13. Like what exactly? Hasn't that been the biggest problem with the team this decade?
  14. 1. Yes they are. This is about total revenue generated, not profit. 2. Yes he is happy about it and so should the rest of us be. This is an integral part of any scenario involving the Bills not leaving Buffalo. Also, it represents a good portion of the profit margin of the team.
  15. I was going to type something smart about how SF reportedly wanted a 2nd to switch picks with them, which would mean that we wouldn't have Poz or Lynch and with the other we wouldn't have Evans or ever tried with Losman to get Big Ben, but then I realized that we would be much better had these happened and we had Ben and Willis.
  16. everything I've heard is the exact opposite of that.
  17. In all fairness, I think Gandy was a holdover fromt eh previous coaching staff. But either way, he didn't hit on one FA, did he? I do think his draft record is better than you are stating though. The biggest problem may be that he took players who were able to contribute quickly for the most part, but never really had that high of a ceiling. Basically he got guys like Whitner who were what they were when he drafted them and are not better by leaps and bounds now. Same could be said of Williams, Butler, and maybe McKelvin (might be too early to tell here though). It's hard to say whether this is a problem of not drafting the right players or not being able to develop players.
  18. What about Poz as an OLB? I think he's better suited to play OLB in a 3-4.
  19. I can't speak for anyone else, but for me it was more about not liking dirty players that take shots at our players. Hence when said dirty player is on my team, I will root for him and also keep some cash on hand in case I get the call to bail him out. I also like Incognito for as long as he dons the Bills uni. I hate watching our players get cheap-shotted.
