Astro-Notes Day 2: Satuday 8-1-15
Jerry Jabber replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thank you again Astro! -
When EJ was drafted, it was understood that he was a project player and would need time to develop which is why the Bills brought in Kevin Kolb to be the starter, so Manuel could learn behind. There have been times in Manuel's first 14 games where he's looked good: against Carolina and the 2nd Jets game in 2013 when our top two WR's were out and Goodwin was the #1 WR. And there have been times where he's looked bad, such as the last two games he played. I blame a lot of that on Marrone & co as Marrone wanted an ultra conservative Dick Jauron style offense and really shackled Manuel. Even Rex Ryan stated he felt Manuel was left on his own by Marrone & co.

You're right about Cassel as he's a career backup (Orton 2.0) Tyrod Taylor has been a backup and is given a chance to see what he can do. Taylor so far seems like a Kaepernick where he can scramble, make plays with his feet, but seems inconsistent with his throws and has the tendency to tuck the ball in and run too quickly. IMO, Manuel is a glorified rookie who's has has been surrounded by poor coaches since he's been with the Bills. Other players such as Kouandjio and Watkins have said the same thing. It's too soon to give up on Manuel. IMO, this is the best coaching staff the Bills have in place since the Super Bowl teams of the 90's, so let's wait and see how this thing plays out before we hit the panic button.

Watkins takes shots at old coaches
Jerry Jabber replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't honestly judge how bad or good Hackett was due to the fact that Marrone was so overly conservative in his play calling, was more concerned about his image in the media, and spent most of his time meddling with the O-line instead of focusing on the team as a whole. The only things I can give credit to Marrone for is hiring Schwartz and hiring Crossman as those two did great jobs with the defense and special teams. -
http://www.syracuse.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2015/07/sammy_watkins_takes_dig_at_former_buffalo_bills_and_syracuse_wr_coach_rob_moore.html "Now, we're understanding how to run routes off any press, off any leverage, to where you won't be covered," Watkins told the Buffalo News. "We were kind of limited last year with certain things. It was, 'You can't do this, you can't do that.' All" Moore "wanted to do was just tie-in what he knew and what he did in his career and just do that." "The way" Lal "coaches now is the way that I know," Watkins told the News. "Everybody knows it that way. Everybody's like, 'Man, we wish we had this last year.' Or, 'Man, we wish we could do that.' And" Lal's "like, 'No, we want you to do it that way. That's the way I'm teaching it. Do it that way!'" As time goes on, the more we hear about how bad Doug Marrone and his offensive staff really was.

I've been listening to both the national and local media and there are a lot of people that feel the Patriots will start the season 2-2, meaning they will still beat the Jaguars and Bills. I find that very hard to believe!! I feel the Bills will not only beat the Patriots if Garoppolo is playing, but they will blow them out in week 2. Do you think the Bills will lose to the Patriots without Brady?

http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/report-tom-brady-destroyed-phone-suspension-to-be-upheld/ar-AAdBouH?ocid=iehp The NFL is going to reject Tom Brady’s appeal and uphold the four-game suspension he is facing for his alleged role in Deflategate, according to one report. Stephen A. Smith said on ESPN’s “First Take” Tuesday morning that a source told him Roger Goodell will not reduce or overturn Brady’s suspension. Perhaps more shocking, Smith cited a separate source who told him Brady actually destroyed his own personal cell phone rather than just refusing to turn it over.

Ted Black out: Russ Brandon to head Sabres and Bills
Jerry Jabber replied to JP's Voice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All I Need is Hope, A couple of examples I can think of with Brandon are: He moved training camp from Fredonia to Rochester which improved ticket sales from the Rochester area The Toronto series (as painful as it was) improved ticket sales from Southern Ontario Brandon was heavily involved in the 10 year iron-clad lease between Ralph Wilson Stadium and Erie County making it virtually impossible to move the Bills in case the team was sold to a bidder that wanted to move the team outside of WNY Brandon was heavily involved in the sale of the team and the strict stipulations involved in the sale -

Brandon has done a great job of marketing the Bills as well as the business side of the team, but he was terrible when it came to hiring coaches, management, and players. Just as long as Brandon stays on the marketing/business side, then things will be good. -
Out of Town Bills Fans
Jerry Jabber replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I couldn't care less about the Redskins. I do like the Ravens as they've consistently had a good team, but I'm not a die-hard fan. My daughter goes to the same middle same that Torrey Smith went to and got to meet him this past school year when he came in for a visit. She said Torrey was very nice and had a great time meeting him. -
Jason Pierre-Paul fireworks accident
Jerry Jabber replied to Golden Wheels's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LOL!! The creation fireworks itself is a science, so you're right. Every year, we hear of some story where an idiot does something stupid with fireworks and either gets hurt or killed (like lighting mortars off with their head over the mortar). -
Jason Pierre-Paul fireworks accident
Jerry Jabber replied to Golden Wheels's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Idiots like JPP and the moron who lit a mortar off the top of his head are the reason why a lot of states ban fireworks or have fireworks restrictions. Anyone that holds a firework in their hand and lights it is asking for trouble. It's not rocket science, put the firework on the ground, light it, then move backwards to a safe distance. -
The Gross Misuse of Sammy Watkins--by the numbers
Jerry Jabber replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's been painfully obvious that Hackett was in over his head and Marrone wanted an ultra-conservative offense, so I'm glad those two are gone. -
I'd imagine Taylor or Manuel, plus either a 1st & 2nd round picks or two 1st round picks. It would be a lot to give up, but Rivers would instantly make us a Super Bowl contender. Ralph is cheap... Russ is cheap... Terry and Kim are cheap!
-
I'd take Rivers this year or next year. With the way the Bills are built on both offense and defense right now, we could go on a nice run for 3-4 years. It would be great to have an elite QB to get us over the hump.
-
In the offseason, Phillip Rivers stated he wants to be on a team that has a shot at a championship and doesn't feel that the Chargers will be that team. Has there been any news if Rivers is asking for a trade or is wanting out of SD? I've heard the Bills reporters mention in passing that the Bills are done in free agency/trades this season, unless it's for Rivers.

Bills' Mandatory Minicamp: June 16-18
Jerry Jabber replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think we will see a significant improvement on offense this year. Where the strengths of the offense will be in the run game and the short passing game. Weaknesses will be intermediate and deep passing game. -
