  1. Wow... interesting... I thought his best shot for another Lombardi trophy might be with the 49ers, but the Broncos should be a good option as well. I just wonder how much John Fox's run-oriented conservative scheme will clash with Manning's need to audible and throw at every opportunity. We shall see...
  2. Why the hell would the Bills want to help the Patriots in any way, shape or form..? They've been killing us for how long?
  3. So, you seem to know exactly why he was cut by Ozzie despite several opportunities to win that game? Evans drops a ball in the end zone, man's up for it and gets cut for that reason becoming the scapegoat while Cundiff misses the FG, blames the scoreboard and is still on the roster... How about the fact that Cundiff signed a 5 year, $15 million contract before the 2011 season.. while Evans would count 5.6 million against the cap this year and would have gotten a million dollar roster bonus on March 18th if he was still on the team? Baltimore was $13 million under the cap before Evans was cut... That frees up more money for them, no? Not to mention Baltimore drafted WRs Torrey Smith and Tandon Doss in the 2nd and 4th rounds last year. Perhaps the Evans trade was a quick fix while the rookie WRs developed..? But Torrey Smith developed quicker than anticipated..? So, you have the answers and the writers who's links I put up have no more insight or access to the team than we on a Bills forum? I wonder why they get to write the articles then..? I always remember Evans being a consummate professional at some of the worst times during this team's last few seasons. Even while playing with QBs that couldn't get him the ball with a portable cannon strapped to their arm. A saint? Most NFL players are not that.. A team leader? Yes, I'd say so.. Just my opinion.
  4. You mean besides the fact he was a 5 time team captain, a fan favorite and holds some Buffalo franchise game records as well as being 3rd all-time for the Bills in receiving yards? Oh, I don't know... It could be statements like this that show you can man up, be a professional and take the blame (even though there were other chances to win a trip to the Super Bowl): link Take the blame and be a professional or blame it on a scoreboard error like Cundiff did..? A quote from Ozzie Newsome when Baltimore acquired him: link After the trade: link link How about the fact that no matter how bad the coaching and QBs were while Evans was in Buffalo, he was a professional about it... an example a lot of other players should consider before running their mouth. link In posting these links, in no way am I saying trading Evans wasn't what was best at the time for the Bills. But, in my opinion, he was a leader particularly while in Buffalo, on and off the field and a good example in the community.
  5. I'll admit, I hated to see Lee Evans go last year just based off his leadership, character and work in the community... I just don't believe, from a scheme standpoint, he's a good option for Gailey's offense or Fitzpatrick's strengths. Like several have stated, T.O. may be a better option assuming he'd be a team player again. Besides, there are plenty of options still out there in FA and the draft. Maybin will not happen based off the RFA tender.. and really, I don't think he'd want to be back here. The Jets should have some interest in trying to keep him.
  6. From what I'm seeing, 4-3 will be the base defense but it sounds like they will use a hybrid like a lot of teams these days... Really, several teams saying they are going to run a 4-3 or 3-4 "base" isn't set in stone any more.. 40-45% of our scheme the last 2 years was actually in a 4-3 nickel package, no? Kelsay was talking about that in this article: link A couple of quotes from articles on the Dolphins new defensive scheme: link link I think in this day and age defensive schemes depend on the offense they're up against from week to week. With all the passing these days, I would think a nickel defense is used as much as anything like Kelsay stated.
  7. Not that I'm defending the Fish here, because I hate them as much as the next Bills fan... but looking at it objectively, they have a new coaching staff and the scheme/philosophy is going to change. They may be looking to do similar things as the Bills did in 2010. Purge some of the previous regime's talent and begin their rebuilding mainly by "building through the draft" as we remember Nix saying would be the main focus here.
  8. Damn, this is a shot in the arm for the Buffalo Bills franchise! There's so much Wannstedt can do now with the defensive scheme.. If Merriman (and all of em' for that matter) can stay healthy, the pass rush could be tops in the NFL! What an awesome day! Thank you Mr. Wilson! Thank you Buddy! Thank you Mario! We BILLIEVE!!!
  9. Well, cross Robinson off the list... He just signed a 5 year deal with Jacksonville and Mr. Mularkey... https://twitter.com/#!/AdamSchefter/status/180058861514924032
  10. The dude better sign or this place could be a first for NFL forum mass suicide...
  11. Couldn't agree more... This whole time I've been wondering why Robinson's name hasn't come up. He'd be a great signing and proved last year that he's a red zone threat. He had 3 multi-TD games including games against the Bills and the Super Bowl Champs, the NY Giants.. Buffalo may not even go after him, especially based on the interest he's getting elsewhere.. but I can't believe he's not at least in the discussion.. particularly after they went after Meachem aggressively.
  12. I wouldn't break the bank and I'd make sure he's completely healthy (after wrist and neck injuries).. He's 32 and, I believe he still has some good years left in him.. So yes, I'd look at him as an option.. He could be a valuable weapon.. I have a feeling though he's going to cost too much considering the Bills other needs and Chandler being re-signed.
  13. Yes bbb, the Roundtable was a great show... Definitely some heavy hitters back in the day... I believe the 4th guy at that time was Kevin Silvestri (???) Not sure about his last name... Anyway, I still have some photos of me with all 4 of them... Van Miller was there too about to call the game... Why I didn't get a photo with Van, I'll never know.. But Larry F. was very nice... Talked to me in between breaks about covering the Bills and his career in journalism. Classy guy... and always great to talk to with Murph on MNQ.. He will be missed.
  14. I used to call in to MNQ quite a bit and met Larry once in the press box while he was doing the Sunday morning pre-game... His articles are still, to me, some of the best ever written on the Bills team and organization. Enjoy a well-deserved retirement Larry... You will be missed.
  15. And furthermore, :censored:
  16. As Bills fans, we know how Ravens fans are feeling about now... Tough loss for them.
  17. Hopefully now he can find some peace...
  18. Donahoe had full control over the decision making as president and GM when he was in Buffalo... He could have hired who he wanted.. He interviewed guys like Marvin Lewis and John Fox and passed them over for Gregg Williams.... Lewis has been HC for how many years now in Cincy? And just took a talented young team to the playoffs... Fox did the same in Carolina with several playoff bids and went to a SB... He's doing the same his first year in Denver... After these interviews and Williams hiring, Marvin Lewis' agent had this to say: http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/story?id=99873&page=1#.Twt17Bxy9j4 Hmmmm... Lack of consistent dialogue or communication with Donahoe?? Sounds like a complaint he got from a lot of people while here... along with a heightened sense of arrogance and refusal to take any advisement from others under consideration... It was his way or the highway... And choosing Williams over Lewis or Fox showed that he felt he was the smartest man in the room and needed to prove it to the world. As far as the Mularkey hiring, I'm still not sure if he would have been successful or not.. He seemed like a better hire than Williams.. But remember, Donahoe had a chance to hire Lovie Smith or Romeo Crennel too... We'll see if Crennel has success in KC, unlike Cleveland... But Lovie Smith, much like Fox, has had several playoff bids and a SB appearance in Chicago... Here's an article on Donahoe's options in 2004: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/bills/2004-01-07-coaching-search_x.htm Also, Mularkey wanted Ken Whisenhunt (a great OC with Pit. which eventually got him the HC job in Arz.) as his OC... Donahoe overruled him and hired Tom Clements instead. All in all, the way I see it, he passed over some great opportunities to hire eventual successful HCs (and assistants) for guys he felt would make him look brilliant, ala the Bill Cowher hiring, if they worked out... He outsmarted himself... Here's one other good article on Donahoe's mistakes in Buffalo: http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2009/4/1/816875/seven-ways-donahoe-destroyed-the You'll notice Mistake #1, 6 & 7 are exactly what I'm talking about..
  19. My reply to him was very similar...
  20. I was literally just about to post this... Here's the actual quote from https://twitter.com/#!/mortreport
  21. I agree... Injuries and lack of depth have been a major concern for this regime... Nix is building from the ground up here and I believe the staff should be given another offseason or two to implement their strategy. This year's draft/FA will be a big one for this staff...
