This has been a couple of batsh** crazy days in the NFL... -
DE Mark Anderson in Buffalo (SIGNED)
Búfalo Blanco replied to SKRAAPY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's a good question on Troup... I wonder if the 3-4 will get much play, with a new 4-3 base and, as Kelsay stated a while back in an article, the fact that they've played a lot of nickel with a 4 man front.. Not sure what they might be thinking with some of the obvious 3-4 guys or possible hybrid scheme altogether.. I would hope they still use the 3-4 in certain scenarios. -

If this ends up being the case, its a smart move.. I think they should hold onto Kelsay, unless they can't justify it over saving cap space.. The rotation with Kelsay, Anderson, Johnson (if he stays), Carrington, the two Williams, Dareus and others could be amazing if they have good luck with health this season. -

Very happy to hear this... This is a big need filled.. Our DL and pass rush should be much improved this year! -

I know I'm in the minority here, but I'm not so sure its a good thing for the Bills having to face this guy twice a year.. Especially if he becomes the starter, which is entirely possible. Just sayin'... -

Better than Manning, Brady and Rogers in TD scoring percentage in the red zone, eh? Stat from ESPN article -
Sign Roscoe Parrish, he is still looking

Amen! Add to that his punt return records and he's a good signing for reasonable money: buffalobills.com link -

The kid is one hell of a punt returner... and based off of Gailey's offense, he could definitely be in on particular scenarios.. If he's signed at a decent price, he's worth it in my opinion.. 4 yr $15 million w/$2million signing bonus for gadget player Brad Smith, but we can't sign someone like Parrish to a low risk contract..? -

All Peyton Manning, all the time!

You gotta wonder if Manning and Harbaugh's egos would have clashed... Then you throw Randy Moss into that equation too and it could have been a ticking timebomb. Maybe the Broncos are the better fit.. -

Wow... interesting... I thought his best shot for another Lombardi trophy might be with the 49ers, but the Broncos should be a good option as well. I just wonder how much John Fox's run-oriented conservative scheme will clash with Manning's need to audible and throw at every opportunity. We shall see... -
Why the hell would the Bills want to help the Patriots in any way, shape or form..? They've been killing us for how long?

So, you seem to know exactly why he was cut by Ozzie despite several opportunities to win that game? Evans drops a ball in the end zone, man's up for it and gets cut for that reason becoming the scapegoat while Cundiff misses the FG, blames the scoreboard and is still on the roster... How about the fact that Cundiff signed a 5 year, $15 million contract before the 2011 season.. while Evans would count 5.6 million against the cap this year and would have gotten a million dollar roster bonus on March 18th if he was still on the team? Baltimore was $13 million under the cap before Evans was cut... That frees up more money for them, no? Not to mention Baltimore drafted WRs Torrey Smith and Tandon Doss in the 2nd and 4th rounds last year. Perhaps the Evans trade was a quick fix while the rookie WRs developed..? But Torrey Smith developed quicker than anticipated..? So, you have the answers and the writers who's links I put up have no more insight or access to the team than we on a Bills forum? I wonder why they get to write the articles then..? I always remember Evans being a consummate professional at some of the worst times during this team's last few seasons. Even while playing with QBs that couldn't get him the ball with a portable cannon strapped to their arm. A saint? Most NFL players are not that.. A team leader? Yes, I'd say so.. Just my opinion.
-
You mean besides the fact he was a 5 time team captain, a fan favorite and holds some Buffalo franchise game records as well as being 3rd all-time for the Bills in receiving yards? Oh, I don't know... It could be statements like this that show you can man up, be a professional and take the blame (even though there were other chances to win a trip to the Super Bowl): link Take the blame and be a professional or blame it on a scoreboard error like Cundiff did..? A quote from Ozzie Newsome when Baltimore acquired him: link After the trade: link link How about the fact that no matter how bad the coaching and QBs were while Evans was in Buffalo, he was a professional about it... an example a lot of other players should consider before running their mouth. link In posting these links, in no way am I saying trading Evans wasn't what was best at the time for the Bills. But, in my opinion, he was a leader particularly while in Buffalo, on and off the field and a good example in the community.
-
I'll admit, I hated to see Lee Evans go last year just based off his leadership, character and work in the community... I just don't believe, from a scheme standpoint, he's a good option for Gailey's offense or Fitzpatrick's strengths. Like several have stated, T.O. may be a better option assuming he'd be a team player again. Besides, there are plenty of options still out there in FA and the draft. Maybin will not happen based off the RFA tender.. and really, I don't think he'd want to be back here. The Jets should have some interest in trying to keep him.

WTH are the Dolphins thinking?
Búfalo Blanco replied to Bud Adams's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From what I'm seeing, 4-3 will be the base defense but it sounds like they will use a hybrid like a lot of teams these days... Really, several teams saying they are going to run a 4-3 or 3-4 "base" isn't set in stone any more.. 40-45% of our scheme the last 2 years was actually in a 4-3 nickel package, no? Kelsay was talking about that in this article: link A couple of quotes from articles on the Dolphins new defensive scheme: link link I think in this day and age defensive schemes depend on the offense they're up against from week to week. With all the passing these days, I would think a nickel defense is used as much as anything like Kelsay stated. -

Búfalo Blanco replied to Bud Adams's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not that I'm defending the Fish here, because I hate them as much as the next Bills fan... but looking at it objectively, they have a new coaching staff and the scheme/philosophy is going to change. They may be looking to do similar things as the Bills did in 2010. Purge some of the previous regime's talent and begin their rebuilding mainly by "building through the draft" as we remember Nix saying would be the main focus here. -

Damn, this is a shot in the arm for the Buffalo Bills franchise! There's so much Wannstedt can do now with the defensive scheme.. If Merriman (and all of em' for that matter) can stay healthy, the pass rush could be tops in the NFL! What an awesome day! Thank you Mr. Wilson! Thank you Buddy! Thank you Mario! We BILLIEVE!!!
