  1. OK assuming we keep 7 not 6 we already know at least 4 names for sure. SJ, Woods, Graham, Goodwin....Easley's not gotten a chance against the 1's and barely time against the 2's in games so far, so if he makes this roster we MUST see him go against the 1's in the next 2 games.... otherwise I think despite his stats and good relationship with Jeff Tuel, he could easily be gone.... Depending of course how Hogan and Kaufman and the rest perform of course! Smith's versatility earns him a spot ONLY if we keep 7wrs... if we keep only 6, then I think Smith's number may get pulled....maybe not... but the other WR's have done more to earn a spot so far. SO, really there are two spots up for grabs and 5 guys fighting for them...each with good wr qualities though fairly dissimilar to each other. I think we will know with fair certainty by tomorrow evening!
  2. Aha! Someone with half a brain!
  3. I guess my whole point is, maybe we could use a new QB, but we definitely have bigger needs elsewhere! I realize QB is the face of the franchise, but replacing Fitz isn't going to them putting on the winning track as surely as fixing the D will.... Until the D is good enough to STOP a team on 4th and long with 1:30 to go.... Fitz isn't much of a problem.... No if the D is playing Lights Out then sure the QB is the next biggest trouble spot.
  4. Clearly the 32nd ranked defense is to blame for the Bills losses... I am NOT suggesting Fitz and the offense doesn't have its share of problems.... but the offense is NOT the main problem and changing QB's is not going to make ANY difference. The problem is 80-85% defensive with this team! I just can't see how anyone can throw this season's mediocrity on Fitz and the Offense. I can even accept that there has been tons of change on defense and our players are not perfect fits for a Wanny Defense.... We did change from the 3-4 to 4-3 and for the two previous years we were drafting defensive player that fit the "new" system.... we did change defensive coordinators... we do have a young and inexperienced secodary... we do lack quality starting linebackers for the 4-3 (Barnett is great but not ideal in the 4-3) and we all knew this going into the season.... somehow this year everyone expected it all to just "work smoothly" and we'd be a playoff team.... the cold hard truth is here... the players have not adapted quickly and inexperience has shown itself regularly.... Our LB's are slow to the action and one a RB or TE make a catch underneath they are not stopped until the secondary (15-20 yds down field) Meanwhile, despite some bad passes and bad luck (injuries) we have seen our offense consistently put up enough to pts win in 6 out of 7 weeks.... Keep blaming Fitz and the Offense... we'll never make the playoffs if the DEFENSE continues to let the offense down! the sad truth of the matter is that very few teams increase thier win totals from one year to the next by more than 2-3 games... we were 6-10 last season and being better than a 8-8 or 9-7 team is unrealistic to hope for (as many did) Except for the Niners game, the Bills would have two more wins IF the defense only stops the opponent on 4th down situations once in each game.... it could easily be argued they would have won 3 more if special teams was just a little more special....
  5. I don't believe Fred and CJ are secretly pissed about the carries... I think the injuries that have occurred both this season and last gives them insight in the need for both roles, and an understanding that health may play the biggest role in those carries. OTOH I do agree that Choice gets no carries while both are active....
  6. Tyler Bray or EJ manual are the most likely fitz in the draft, and FITZ is the most likely if not via draft.
  7. Dude, you call yourself a fan? Please go route for the 9ers!
  8. I think it's pretty clear that Fitz is not in the upper half of talent in the league, but at the same time, fitz is a veteran signal caller with guts and smarts those intangibles.... and once in a while can get hot. I am sure that Buddy and Company are looking for a QB and I am sure the deal for T. Jackson has implications in the Bills trying to improve without have to groom a rookie which will take some time unless you use a high #1 pick. We still need a Wideout that is dominant in the red zone. Stevie is good, and Chandler is a solid option but we need the Jump-baller type too... I still say its not the offense or Fitz, but the porous defense! Even Special Teams hasn't been so special.... so its more than just Fitz, and as bad as Fitz has been, he has not lost a game for us.
  9. I think Dehaven is more into directional kicking and that is something Moorman doesn't do well.... maybe Powell does it better I dunno
  10. Paysites for news... they just don't get it... NEVER will I pay for news.... if they go under its their own dang fault! I get plenty of free news just how I like it - without paying some site a fee just for being out of town! Quality? From the D&C? No better than anywhere else on the net! I have no idea what they think I would actually pay for, but I do know that their advertisers are loosing my pageviews... and that means LESS revenue for the D&C... Its their choice to put themselves out of business I guess!
  11. As much as I like Aaron Williams, if only we had picked Andy Dalton instead..... we would have kept D. Florence and still had a good secondary.
  12. Syracuse has ALWAYS been included in the NFL blackout rule. What has changed is that the Utica/Rome area also has NBC, ABC, and FOX affiliates and those signals are receivable in eastern Syracuse, but when CBS took over the AFC broadcast rights the only CBS affiliate is located in Syracuse and so now the entire region is blocked out. The worst part of this is that the small piece of land that falls within the 75mi radius is a cow pasture without even a single house to receive the signal. So yes, do keep your billing address in the Albany area!
  13. Wanna bet if bell doesn't get a deal before the draft he comes back to buffalo with a counter offer?
  14. Broken legs are not something that qualifies as an injury history.... that is just bad luck. An injury history -to me- is someone who has injuries related to training problems or or due to style of play. An achilles tendon injury or a knee injury or something that is known to be difficult to return from can also be defined as an injury history. Broken legs are the result of other people falling on/into you... nothing the player can do about that!
  15. When we resign D. Bell then we can take a tackle in the 2nd or 3rd rounds... if we don't have Bell or a similar talent signed by draft day then I am sure we try to get one of those start right away types... LB,CB,WR is my thinking... in that order too....
  16. Welker is 5'9" and 185lbs. Parrish is 5'9" and 175lbs. I think they compare very favorably to each other.
  17. Lee is a great guy, and a professional. He did what he was asked with revolving QB's and Coordinators while here and I wish him the best of luck. It's a shame that not playing and being hurt all year has eroded his skill set. On the other hand, that 4th rd pick is looking better and better....
  18. None of the "Good" QB's will make to 10 anyways.... DE/OLB pass rushers are the most critical need. we do need to develop a QB, but I'd wait till the 3rd day for that.... There are some nice QB's that have a few warts and will drop...
  19. Fred Smerlas Cornelius Bennett Will Wolford Antoine Winfield Thurman Thomas Ted Washington Pat Williams London Fletcher Coy Wire Jabari Greer Jim Leonhart John Wendling Paul Pozlusny
  20. Injury replacements are usually limited in their skill set (which is why they are backups...) so opponents can figure out what we are trying to do against them and make changes, while our limited skill set players can not adapt as quickly.. we have lead the league, or been close to the top the past 4 years for number of injured players on IR and also for the number of starters lost..... so this has been an ongoing problem for a while...
  21. Actually a simpler way to implement this is if the ball is inside the 20 (either end) the PI is assessed a 15yd penalty. however between the 20's its a spot foul..... Offensive Holding should have two levels.... Holding - 10yds - for actually holding/pulling and for the typical calls... Impediment -5yds - for all those hands outside the pads but no obvious sign of holding the player up calls. OR even simpler, develop a mandatory hand mitt for OL which prevents virtually all but the most flagrant offenses.
  22. I agree and if Law actually lasts till the 3rd round he'd be an excellent addition...I'd still rather take a Quinton Couples...but alas last weeks win, sweet as it was, probably leaves on the outside looking IN to draft him now. I still like Dre Kirkpatrick CB since Mcgee has had injury issues and is getting older. We don't really have a corner to take away the big strong Megatron types of WR's.... but we might not get a chance at him either depending on how today plays out. Luke Kuechly ILB would be a strong pick esp. if we go back to the 4-3 since that would allow Barnett to slide over to Will LB.... Sheppard can still play inside in a 4-3. Now IF the Bills beat the pats.... then we fall to the tier two level talents... and have to play the waiting game to see who falls.
  23. For those harking for a QB, while I agree with most of what you say about Fitz, I also think that you can agree that virtually all of Fitz's troubles started happening after we started losing O-linemen, WR's and TE's... even FJ later on. Those kinds of disruptions can have dramatic effects on QB play so I feel its IMPOSSIBLE to accurately determine how much Fitz is to blame for the 7-game slide. No, if anything can be concluded it was that our defense contributed the most to that slide.... I actually think we got some very decent WR's who pose difficult matchups for opponents. IF Easley ever shows in a game what he does in practice we may have another SJ level talent already in the fold, but I also really like Jones and Nelson and what they bring. Jones, when healthy was surprisingly good outside. Let's not forget Roscoe Parrish went down in wk2.... though he might not be back. I expect we will draft a WR we almost always do... but its not a #1 imperative.... I'd rather draft a QB to a WR.... Let's go back and look at the 5-2 Bills of the first 7 weeks. Their biggest problem was not offense but defense. The offense only broke down once injuries in all three aspects of the offense broke down. Its very difficult to lay blame on Fitz or Chan when the protection is in constant flux, constant replacement receivers to throw to, and loss of you're #1 weapon. The defense on the other hand has been awful in all except the past 2 games. Yes, they got lucky with turnovers.... Those turnovers were gifts though on badly thrown balls, not a result of QB pressure or skilled DB's... The one thing I am certain of is that we NEED to use Kyle Williams and Marcell Dareus inside in a base 4-3 alignment! Couple that with a pair of speedy outside LB's that can cover the edge and at least one DE that can pressure the passer with some regularity and we'll have a major improvement.
  24. For every AJ Green or Julio Jones I can show you 1000 WRs that took at least 2 years to be good.... You're exceptions prove the rule.
  25. Actually there has never been any scientific evidence that second hand smoke has any noticeable negative effects on non-smokers in an outdoor environment. Closed environments like Bars and Restaurants are a different matter.... but the only studies that have ever shown a negative impact have been in closed space environments. Several studies have been done in open air close-quarter contact situations without showing any direct and appreciable effects. Stanford Study: "A typical cigarette lasts about 10 minutes," Klepeis said. "We found that if you're within two feet downwind of a smoker, you may be exposed to pollutant concentrations that exceed 500 micrograms of PM2.5 over that 10-minute period. If you're exposed multiple times to multiple cigarettes over several hours in an outdoor pub, it would be possible to get a daily average of 35 micrograms or more, which exceeds the current EPA outdoor standard." This is similar to levels that toll collectors and commuters in highly congested traffic jams are exposed to regularly. It represents levels roughly 50 times higher than that of fresh air. Regardless of your political or social views on smokers, they are being targeted unfairly by laws and regulations that are more about population control than public health. Those pining about alcohol not "directly" effecting the person next to you are very short sighted. The number one cause of death in this country is automobile accidents and the #1 cause of those accidents is Alcohol. That is a MUCH more proven direct connection than anything science has established for second hand smoke (even in CLOSED environments)so curtailing drinking would be a much better use of resources if public health was the real reason behind smoking bans. For those quoting the constitution; The constitution does not tell us what are rights are, but limits what control the government can exercise over individuals. The Constitution does not expressly give the federal government the power to regulate tobacco either! Specifically the 10th amendment states that the government is limited to ONLY THOSE POWERS delegated to it by the constitution. So while there may be no specifically stated right to smoke, there is also no specifically stated power of the government to regulate it! No I don't smoke. I just believe in our constitution and it LIMITATIONS on government.
