This is a dumb draft question
BeastMode54 replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
thanks. has that ever been done before? trading down twice in a round? -
could the Bills trade down with the Broncos, for example, one spot and get an extra 4th or 5th, and then from 12 trade down to 17 or 19 or wherever, to gain more picks? Can you only trade once or can you trade a pick as many times as you want?

NFL Network, as well as ESPN's John Clayton, are reporting that the Kansas City Chiefs - who hold the #5 and #17 picks in the first round of the draft - contacted Buffalo as soon as they traded DE Jared Allen to Minnesota about a potential trade opportunity. The Bills, according to NFLN, are interested in making a deal if the cornerback that they covet is off the board. Buffalo Rumblings can confirm for you, thanks to a friendly insider tip, that that cornerback is Troy's Leodis McKelvin, whom Buffalo's coaching staff and scouting department regard very highly. I don't know if I like this. Some mocks have McKelvin going before us, some after. No matter what, I would like to see a trade down and get the top WR instead of CB. I wouldn't be upset, but I just don't really want a corner. If we do take him, hopefully we can trade back into the 1st

What happens if the numbers come out that he ran a 4.48 or 4.53, for example, today? And that he ran it not on turf but the slower grass surface. Does he still slip?

pretty much for a bag of autographed Jay Cutler balls

per rotoworld NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that the Jets have traded DT Dewayne Robertson to the Broncos. Schefter reports that the Broncos will send the Jets a late-round conditional 2009 draft choice.

that is if we are even interested. all smoke and mirrors right now. It's driving me nuts. I wish I had a time machine to get to our pick already

Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports that Tampa Bay has become the frontrunner for Lito Sheppard. Glazer reports that Sheppard was visiting with the Buccaneers on Wednesday, and that a trade could go down by Saturday. He speculates that it will take at least a second round pick to get a deal done, and the Bucs have the 21st (52nd overall) pick in the second round.

If we could get White and Sheppard through trades and get the WR and TE we need, that would be amazing

A DEFENSIVE END OPTION VIA TRADE?: According to the Tampa Tribune exclusive rights free agent DE Greg White of Tampa Bay wants more money than the minimum base salary tender for a second-year player after an impressive rookie campaign in which he racked up eight sacks, seven forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries along with 45 tackles. What exactly the 28-year old would be satisfied with is not clear, but with Tampa not budging his agent may request a trade. The former Arena League star would be an interesting option for teams looking to bolster their pass rush. I know there are a lot of Bills fans that would like to see Buffalo grab Florida's Derrick Harvey at 11, so White could be another and possibly better option as he has proven what he's capable of on the field. Not to mention the fact that Tampa's defense is very similar to Buffalo's. Just a thought. What do you think we'd have to give up to get him?
-
I wonder why he would do that. Try to run faster again?

I'll just come out and say it.....there is no way we are drafting Mayo
-
Why would getting Mayo solve a problem. We have Mitchell, Poz, and Crowell. Very very solid

I would LOVE this to happen. Get a top notch corner, swap 1st round picks, take the WR we covet at the better value, then take a pass catching TE in 2nd or 3rd and a DE in 2nd or 3rd. We would be very good next year. We would have gotten, Mitchell, Johnson, Stroud, Sheppard, Will James to bolster the defense via free agency and trades, and through the draft we answer our needs at WR, TE, and depth. I WOULD LOVE THIS.

FWIW, Devin Thomas on Rome tomorrow

Just watched the interview. Seems, at least in the interview, like a hard worker and a stand-up guy. He looks physically impressive to with big upper body and wide shoulders -
Derrick Harvery. Wide receiver and cornerback might be bigger needs, but Harvey is the best value. There are good CBs on the board, but I'm not too excited about using this high of a pick on a Cover 2 corner. And none of the receivers are good enough to take this high. Pass rushers are at a premium, which is why Harvey has value here. He has a good burst, is very athletic and has the potential to develop into a very good player. -- Matt Williamson, Scouts Inc.

Albert is a great player and will be a very good NFL offensive lineman IMO, but this team needs continuity and to fill holes. drafting alnert would require someone to move to center or move to guard and have Albert play tackle and so on and so on. We are a young and developing team. Drafting Albert would cause too much change on a line that is very good, gelling together and making positive improvements. I think Albert is too much trouble. We need to draft a position that fits like WR, CB or DE without shifting people around and taking them out of their comfort zone

Allen, both Williams, and possibly either Chris Long or Vernon Gholston. Their defense will be freakin amazing -
i think we just lost a trading partner if we want to trade down

Take this for what it's worth. Teams leak misinformation all the time, but maybe they really don't think character comes into question with this guy. Doesn't mean they pick him though BILLS SAY WR HARDY NOT A CHARACTER RISK: The Bills have done their due diligence on upwards of 500 players for the past 10 months and that includes Indiana WR James Hardy, who has a domestic incident and two-game team suspension in his college career. Said Hardy at the combine about his transgressions. "As a young man I never had anyone to actually sit me down and tell me things I've done wrong, so I've learned from my mistakes," said Hardy. "I can honestly tell you as a man right here that I've made mistakes in the past and I've learned from them and they won't happen again in any other area I'm at. That's all I can do and just show them the actual person that I am. That's what coach Hep (Terry Hoeppner) talked about a lot. He told me to just show the world the type of man you are. That's all I can do." The Bills don't believe Hardy to be a character risk. “I think he had a rough upbringing," said Bills scout Tom Roth. "I don’t think he’s a bad kid at all. He just had a rough upbringing and that’s the way I see it. You can’t knock him for that. You have to give him some credit just for what he’s been through. I wouldn’t say he’s a character risk.” For more check out Bills Roundup in the multimedia section.
