  1. Marvin Austin, top ten talent who got involved with an agent... I like the idea of having Dareus, Williams, Troup, Edwards, and then Austin as a rotation.
  2. Round 1 Fairley or Dareus both are better than what we have. I prefer Fairley he has a mean streak which is what this team needs and he blows up running plays. Round 2 a name that used to be mentioned in the top 10 or even the top 5. Marvin Austin from UNC. Before he was suspended he was the top DT prospect in the class. Not to tout UNC but the have a middle linebacker named campbell who I thought was pretty good as well. I don't know where he grades out though.
  3. I think a good guy to look at to fill an OLB position is Eric Norwood from South Carolina. I think he can be had in the 3rd Round. He anchored ht has been a really good South Carolina defense the past two seasons.
  4. I just went through the DraftTek Consensus Mock Draft and was surprised to see some of the players still available. I have noted some of the guys I would like the Bills to consider. These guys are assuming the first Three rounds go as follows 1 - Bryan Bulaga OT Iowa or Rolando McClain ILB Alabama 2 - Terrence Cody 3-4 DT Alabama 3 - Eric Norwood 3-4 OLB South Carolina Round 4 Cam Thomas 3-4 DT North Carolina (DraftTek has him listed as going 99th to KC we pick at 104. I don't expect him be on the board this late) Arthur Jones 3-4 DE Syracuse (DraftTek has him listed as going 102th to Cleveland we pick at 104. Stock definately don after a bad senior season) Jason Fox OT Miami (DraftTek has him listed as going 114th to Atlanta) Round 5 Brandon Carter OG Texas Tech (DraftTek has him listed as going 129th to Detroitwe pick at 136) Eric Decker WR Minnesota (DraftTek has him listed as going 130th to Cleveland we pick at 136) Torelll Toup 3-4 DT Central Florida Sam Young OT Notre Dame (He is a RT only in my opinion, DrafTek has him going 153 to Baltimore) Round 6 Roddrick Muckelroy 4-3 OLB Texas (DraftTek has him going 170 to Jacksnville) Kavell Connor 4-3 OLB Clemson (Draftek has him going at 175 to Tennessee) Blair White WR Michigan St (DraftTek has him going 178 to Pittsburgh)
  5. Williams may not be a LT and I would never spend a 1st rounder on him, but he would solidify the Right Tackle Spot for years. Phil Loadholt, Williams teammate at Oklahoma was a late pick because of his foot speed and height, and has started from day one for the Vikings at the Right Tackle spot.
  6. Three guys who could have a big immediate impact and huge long-term on are defense could all be had in this draft. Rounds 1-3 are below. Rolando McClain Terrence Cody Eric Norwood I see these three as starting for the length of their contracts (hopefully 4-5 years each). Originally, I thought Cody would have to be had in the late first round, but he has appeared out of shape and heavier. Could this drop him down to the second round? If we don't believe Schobel can make the transition to OLB then see if he can be moved to another team for a late second rounder, but most likely a third. This does nothing to address the offensive side of the ball. The only positions that should be drafted on the offensive side of the ball are OT's and a QB. The only QB I see worth drafting is Clausen, but I don't think it should be done with the offensive line as it is.
  7. The 3-4 can only be effective with a NT that is a space eater. Enter Terrence Cody NT from Alabama the man eats space for breakfast, lunch, diner, and 4th meal.
  8. As a diehard, Notre Dame fan the answer is absolutely NO! Watching his defensive scheme this past season was terrible. He blitzed on a majority of plays and played with lacks coverage to ensure not getting beat over the top. The blitzes were not well disguised at all. All the QB's in the AFC East especially Brady, (even Sanchez and Henne with another year under their belt) would feast on those weak blitzes. A resounding no.
  9. I went with Fox, but in all reality, if Cody is there at 31 for the Saints (would just got a young DT in Sedric Ellis) we better be on the phones moving up 10 spots.
  10. I pray they do not take a QB round one. Not with the OT situation not being resolved. As much as we need a QB the games are won on the lines of scrimmage. I really do want McClain with that #9 pick. I think the Bills have to find a way to get back into the first round and get Cody. Those two guys are instant game changers and are what you build a franchise around for years. I can not say that about any of the OT other than Okung who I think will be gone by #9 and any QB other than Clausen. But no rookie should take that beating behind our current O-line.
  11. I think this is the way to go, 2 game changers from day one. I think Offensive Tackle is a tough pick for our first overall, I think Okung will be gone, and I think the other OT's are a reach.
  12. From everything I have seen from him, I think he wouldn't be a reach at #9, but I do think he can be had later. I'm not sure why he is projecting so low right now. My only thought is that he is not a 3 down player because he is off the field in obvious passing situations.
  13. I remember that play form the SEC Championship game. On a sweep left he just ran the guy down and rode him down on a solo tackle. Who would have thought a LB would can make a solo tackle without being dragged.
  14. With all the uncertainty that surrounds the Bills currently there are a things that are certain, whoever is the coach will want/need to drastically improve the lines on this team (front seven on Defense). The Bills were 30rd against the run this season 156.2 yards per game at a 4.7 yards per carry average The Bills registered 32 sacks of opponents. This was tied with 5 other teams for 18th in the league. OT, DT, LB, DE are the 4 positions I would target first and foremost this April, below are my defensive prospects for DT and LB. If you have any prospects you like I will dd them, or if you have any more thoughts on the mentioned I will update. For the record s badly as we need an OT, I would like the Bills to select McClain and find a way to get Terrence Cody in the late first or early 2nd. I think the two will have an immediate impact on the defense, and will also allow others to lay at their more natural position. Defensive Tackles Gerald McCoy Oklahoma projects top 5 In all likelihood McCoy will be gone before the Bills select at pick #9. Terrance Cody Alabama 6'5'' 365lbs The guy is n absolute monster at 6'5" 365lbs. He is athletic and has blocked kicks. He is a prototypical 3-4 NT and if we will be changing to a 3-4 defense for next year then I see him as a must get. He is projected as a late 1st round pick in the 20's. Paired with Kyle Williams the Bills would have a solid interior line combo for years to come. This would cause Stroud to move to a DE position. Dan Williams Tennessee 6'3'' 327lbs. Projects late 1st rounder Marvin Austin North Carolina - 6'3'' 305 lbs. projects 3rd round Strong against the run, but lackluster in collapsing the passing pocket Linebackers Rolando McClain Alabama 6'4'' 256lbs. projects Top Half Round One. He would be the starting middle linebacker from day one, and Poz could slide to the outside. Supposed 4.6 in the forty. Bruce Carter North Carolina 6'3'' 225lbs Slightly undersized for my liking Eric Norwood South Carolina - 6'0'' 252lbs. projects late round 2 early round 3 Plays the OLB position very well gets after the QB (South Carolina career leader in sacks and tackles for loss)
  15. 10. Buffalo Bills: Joe Haden*, CB, Florida Rookie safety Jairus Byrd(notes) has improved the Bills' secondary, but now they need to upgrade at cornerback, and Haden would bring them a rare athlete with great instincts and playmaking skills. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=tsn-...n&type=lgns
  16. Steve Tasker has made so many mistakes tonight calling the game. Tasker: "In no secret the Bills were 5-0 last year with Schobel." Reality: Bills were not 5-0 last year.
  17. Tampa 2 is just a terrible defense for the Bills to employ. I have only seen it work with 3 teams, bears, colts and tampa bay, all three had a great pass rush, which the bills do not have.
  18. Watching the replay of the TD sweep, the d-line was unbalanced to the defensive right side. Why on erth would that be called at the goalline. It is an block for the tackle on McGee, when he has no to block as the Tight End direct the DE to the inside. Terrible alignment - thats on the coaching staff.
  19. Agreed. Also, time missed in the first season comes out of the whole contract yes but is also 100% guaranteed money, as it seems that is the key number now a days.
  20. I don't know if this has ever been done before, but I think it could be successful. I think the Bills should write up the offer they have on the table for Maybin explaining how it is more than Orakpo and less than Raji, how it compares to the #11 pick last year (I'm assuming it is more). Then write up a press release that will go to the Associated Press for release at 7AM the next day if a contract is not signed. The press release outlines how fair the contract is and explain the performance bonuses etc. And talk how if Aaron Maybin and his agent think he is great then he will achieve these bonuses. Basically tell the media and the people of Buffalo a fair offer is on the table and it is Maybin who does not want to play, it is not the agent. I think this puts n incredible amount of pressure on both the Agent but more importantly the player as it would be PR suicide if you don't sign and let the article come out. Also, I might say in negotiations that when you sign a 5 year deal we expect all preseason games and 16 regular season games barring injury. So for every preseason game you miss during this holdout, your contract will be lowered, and the guaranteed money will be lowered proportionally.
  21. I look at Loadholt as a G and a backup RT. Not enough initial quickness to play LT. I have read he plays well with natural knee bend. I think he could be a devastating guard with a year or two of coaching and adjusting to the position. I am fine with Unger at 42 if Mack is not available. Either Or is fine with me.
  22. Is this potential line better than last years? (Heavy draft class for the o-line assuming a Peters trade) LT - Michael Oher LG - Duke Robinson C - Alex Mack RG - Butler/Hargartner RT - Langston Walker
  23. But is it too good to happen the two 1st rounders could both easily be gone by those picks.
  24. Trench Warfare is the name of the game here is my run at it Pick 11 BJ Raji DT (possible drug test failure drops him to us) Pick 21 Michael Oher OT (i have seen him as low at 27 in some mocks, my hope is he is there at 21) Pick 42 Alex Mack C (good to go from day one) Pick 53 Duke Robinson OG Pick 75 Phil Loadholt OT Oklahoma I think this really puts the OL in great shape and adding Raji to the DT mix with Stroud all of our mediocre DE's a little less mediocre. What do you think? This is a draft to write home about in my opinion. Bonus Pick Round 4 - David Bruton S form Notre Dame = starting safety sooner than later
