Opinion: Bills SHOULD hire Doug Pederson as assistant HC
KOKBILLS replied to MrEpsYtown's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills problem is McD's system and talent on Defense now, and especially the Defensive game planning in the last game of the playoffs the last 5 years. Find another Defensive ex HC like Spags to come in and help and I'm all ears... -
He actually had better D-Linemen in Carolina...

There is a system problem with the entire system. Agreed... It don't hurt to ask... And yes, Maxx would be awesome in Buffalo...

FINAL v3.0 now LIVE on p.15 - Gunner's 2025 Mock Draft
KOKBILLS replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would like those picks for sure... I would be happy with Harmon. I would take the Safety Watts over Tuimoloau at 56... Nothing against Tuimoloau...I just think Watts has a much higher ceiling... And I think a stud Safety like Watts is a bigger need right now... I also think Bond goes higher than 62... This WR Draft is too thin for him to slide that far IMHO... But the names you picked are fine and further proof of why I really like this Draft for the Bills... I think the depth lines up with their needs nicely... Good job! -
It's the deepest prospect S Draft I can remember and I've been doing this amateur scout thing for over 35 years... It's not really top heavy as far as top 15-25 guys... But overall it's crazy deep IMHO...
-
That's for sure. But especially on the Defensive side. How they managed some of their better performances this year (I know it was take-aways) is still amazing to me based on everything they were up against... Personnel, talent, scheme, coaching... Because there were times, and they were not necessarily few, where this was one of the worst Defenses I've seen in a while.

I think so yes...

The Chiefs are always one step ahead of the Bills...

I'm not sure how far back the history goes here on TSW... I'm too busy to check now... But you should see what I wrote about Chris Jones the year we took Shaq at #19 overall... He was by far my favorite player in that Draft... -
50 burger

I agree they're not 15 players away... I just don't see the need in keeping highly paid players that continuously underachieve in Playoffs, and against good Offenses, when you can get cheaper players to do the same thing and still win. I'd overhaul and trade to help clear up space for splash players here and there. Maybe it's not possible? I don't know. You're probably right. But I just don't see where we are going ultimately with players like Groot, Epenesa, DaQuan Jones, Von Miller, etc... Going back to the Cincy Playoff game I've been writing about this. We have to do better... Of course I know Cook is under contract... But it's always cheaper a year early... But to clarify I'm talking about a home town deal. If he wants what his brother is asking for I want no part of it. Sure the Bills dominated the AFC East and finished with the 2 seed with that D. You think they would have beat KC at home with the 1 seed?... I disagree... I think, like I've been saying right here for weeks now that our Defense would eventually let us down and the only way we win is if Josh put up a 40 burger... I was wrong... He needed 33... And good grief don't get me started on that secondary... I know we always get banged up but wow... We need an influx of talent back there big time. Anyway... You're right... I'm frustrated... My apologies...

100%

That's totally fair... But the HC has been saying himself it's their best play all year. Do we know 100% that it's not McD telling him to run it over and over again?

Still cracks me up that we gave Mahomes to the Chiefs
KOKBILLS replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well... I kinda did... It should be somewhere in my history here... I thought he was the clear #1 overall player in that Draft. Though admittedly he is even better than I thought he would be. I thought he would be a more accurate Brett Favre... -
I'm fully aware of the fact that this will come across as negative...But I swear it's not meant to be... I do think though that as an organization, philosophically because of who is in charge, this team has peaked. We're not going to get any better because they refuse to get out of their comfort zone both in scheme and talent evaluation. And as long as those three (Reed, Mahomes, Spags) remain in KC, we are not going to the SB... Especially if McDermott continues to run the same Defensive scheme and preach fundamentals over everything. A scheme that many teams not named KC figured out this year. And fundamentals are great, as long as they are backed up by strategy and great play calling. That being said... Here's what I would do. I really don't see any reason to keep anyone on the Defensive line not named Ed Oliver. There are decent players there...sure... But in big games they have continuously come up short. I would absolutely be interested in Crosby or Garrett... Of course I would. This Draft is very deep on the Defensive line. Move whoever you can for picks. Keep Solomon because he's cheap... Completely rebuild it. The secondary has to be rebuilt as well... Benford, Taron, Bishop, and even Ingram and Lewis as depth are fine...But the rest needs to be fortified with speed and talent big time. I'd use at least one of those 2025 picks on a sideline to sideline LB with SPEED... Add speed at WR of course... Good grief add speed and people who can beat man coverage. Bring Hollins back on a one year. I would absolutely trade for George Pickens diva and all... And yes, I would do what I can within reason considering the position to keep Jimbo... Ty Johnson should be resigned obviously. He won't be expensive. No matter what the Bills easily win the AFC East in 2025 and battle for the AFC... But until they can get out of their comfort zone and come up with something in these big games they will continue to come up short. And it is what it is.

Well... I'm not sure who the call was on, but I know Cybo blocked no one while two Chiefs players came in the RG-RT gap...

We need new ideas on both sides of the ball.

At what point do we start blaming Beane ?
KOKBILLS replied to TrentEdwardsCheckDownOn4th's topic in The Stadium Wall
Don't forget the Bills took Kincaid ahead of Sam LaPorta. They even traded up...Ugh... If they wanted a 2nd TE they did not even get the best TE available... In hindsight the big miss outside of Puka Nacua and LaPorta in the Kincaid Draft looks to be Jayden Reed who went #50 overall and is a good WR... The Elam Draft pick was a joke. They could have had Pickens and Riq Woolen in that Draft. But Beane never listens to me...lol I was not a big Coleman guy last off season. But it's tough not to like the kid... I really liked (more like loved) Legette who looked OK in a bad offense as a Rookie, and McConkey who was a monster... I still can't believe the Bills like Coleman over McConkey because Ladd is much more the type of WR they have preferred in the past. -
I think ultimately McD's at fault because he's the HC and he has told us all year the the QB sneak is their best play. He did not self-scout and know that, in the big game, that was when you use it against your opponent... Even sneaking to the left was a terrible mistake in this game because everyone knows that is the Bills tendency... Yes...Brady should know better too... And it's just as much on him... But in the end it falls on McD because there is a history here of him getting schooled by this Chiefs coaching staff... And I'm not calling for McD's head or anything because at this point I'm just resigned to the fact that we are never going to the SB as long as Reed and Mahomes are around... It literally is what it is... This team was clearly not ready for this game from the start. They hung in there and with pure grit and determination almost pulled it out. But with proper preparation and game plan I think they would have won by 2 TD's... Maybe more... And IMHO, that's on the HC... But that's just me... Go Bills...
-
I don't think McD will ever catch up to Reed or Spags, so I've given up on that one... But if the Bills and Beane don't start hitting better on their premium Draft picks they will doom Allen's career to a path similar to Marino's... If you want just a little example... On that last play you have the Kincaid (1st Round Pick) drop... But the whole play is blown up because CyBo (2nd Round Pick) is blocking no one and allowing not one but two blitzers through the gap between him and Brown (3rd Round Pick...Spencer looses too...but to be fair Spencer had a good year overall)... You had Groot (1st Round Pick) doing nothing again in a KC Playoff game... Oliver (1st Round Pick) played OK but not great... Epenesa (2nd Round Pick) was mostly unheard from. Bernard (3rd Round Pick) led another lackluster Defensive effort. Bishop (2nd Round Pick) could have had a huge INT and let a 165 lb WR muscle the ball away from him...Dwayne Carter (3rd Round Pick) did not even play...Coleman (2nd Round Pick) looked completely lost after the injury...Did not even look like the same player...Dorian Williams (3rd Round Pick) is a back up. And Elam (1st Round Pick) apparently needs 10 yards or more cushion even though he's supposed to be a press man corner... None of these guys are bad players... But Beane is not hitting big on any of them... And that's the difference between us and KC... It's fractional... It's super small... But it's real... He's got to do better...

This was the game to know you own tendencies and to break out the magic you've been holding back all year... Instead we just McD'd it... We tried to fundamentals it to a SB... And the crazy thing is it almost worked... That's what I think is the most surprising thing. If we had anything close to Reed and Spag's play calling savvy we would have won by 2 TD's tonight...
