  1. It's definitely not a top heavy Draft class... It's a poor QB Draft class... But this class is loaded with players who will have long careers as #2's and #3's at their positions on individual teams... From around 20 till around 60 the grades are very similar and there is talent. The WR class is deep with 2's, 3's and 4's...Just not 1's... It's a really good DT and DE class, but again not really star heavy... It's decent at CB and Safety... Decent at O-line... Pretty good at TE... And this is one of the best RB Drafts in recent history. There will be some small school developmental gems late... I actually like this Draft when viewed in the proper perspective... I think as far as the Bills are concerned, because they have fewer real needs, there are some really nice opportunities for Beane... But we'll see... It's all how you look at it I guess...
  2. I was watching a YouTube breakdown of top WR's... I think it was the PFF guys, maybe the ex-PFF guys... I watch so much this time of year I lose track tbh... But they get to talking about "sleepers," and both guys immediately bring up Thornton... But they both cautioned that he was a very specific-type... Basically give him the DK Metcalf route-tree as a 4th or 5th WR and let him cook kind of thing...And then they went on to literally describe EXACTLY what is missing from this Bills Offense, in detail, without mentioning the Bills once, when talking about Thornton's skills and what he would bring to the team that Drafted him. They even cautioned that teams who are looking for that 4th or 5th guy to be a star ST's player and pass on a guy like Thornton that can fill a specific role on Offense are doing so at their own risk. Like I said before... I can see plenty of teams where Thornton would just die on the vine... If that happened in Buffalo though I gotta believe it would probably not be Thornton's fault... Because there is no team in the NFL that wants to see the Buffalo Bills add that kind of vertical weapon upside... The possibilities are endless. Beane, McD, and the coaches just have to make it happen.
  3. I forget what National Pod it was that I was listening to the other day... But Dolac's name came up and one of the Scouting guys says... and I am paraphrasing a little... He's a Buffalo LB.... and the other guy says...yes...the LB from UB.... To which the the 1st guy replies... No I mean he's the prototype Buffalo Bills LB...and that's a good thing...He's a fit for their scheme and he just happens to have played at UB which is crazy. Just thought I'd share that.
  4. Even though Thornton is going to come in raw with a lot to learn, he's still light years ahead of a lot of these day 3 guys because there is a physical element to his game, and he knows how to set up CB's who overplay his speed. And that speed is VERY real on the football field. I think it's always important to remember we have 17... And 17 could make a guy like Thornton famous while more than half the other QB's in the league will have him buried on the Practice Squad...
  5. If the Bills are looking for a late round flyer I can see a guy like Smith being appealing. But I'd much rather see them get a little aggressive and secure a spot, even if it's in the late 3rd, to land Dont'e Thornton. I think Thornton may bust out with 90% of the NFL teams. Especially teams who have bigger WR needs and try to throw him out there as their starting X from Day one... But in Buffalo, given an "everybody eats" role... I think there could be something really nice there...
  6. I like Amos, and I'm even OK with him at 30... But the overall haul in this mock would be a legit disaster IMHO... I can't even imagine how disappointed I would be if that's all the Bills came out of those 3 picks with...
  7. Royals is by far the highest rated prospect on my board from the choices available. And I have Jaylin Noel rated just about the same as Royals... The only other guy I'm interested in at that spot is Norman-Lott because he is one of the best pass rushing DT's in this Draft... I get that folks are getting hung up on needs. And the Bills do have needs at DT. But if the board falls like this you can steal one of these WR's who are flat out better prospects IMHO than a guy like Farmer who I see as more of a late 3rd - early 4th DT... I really think folks are sleeping on some of these WR's... This may not be a top heavy WR class but it's DEEP in the 2nd tier. My personal preference for the Bills specifically has been Dont'e Thornton... But if I'm going to follow my board I have to take Royals or Noel here... Both would top off this Bills WR room in a big way.
  8. I like Watts... Don't get me wrong... He's got a knack for finding the ball and I always think that kind of stuff you just can't teach. And yes Taylor Rapp has injury history and could very well be playing his last year in Buffalo... But all that being said if they are all healthy Watts, Rapp, and Bishop are not all going to be on the field together more than maybe 5% of the snaps in 2025... If that... And the Bills safety positions are hard to learn as a Rookie under McD... It's a lot to absorb... Watts would be a pick with 2026 in mind... And that's fine... But I'm not sure the Bills are in that mindset this year. Though I think they may very well trade down a couple spots from 30...I think they are coming up from those late 2nd's because of this exact possible scenario... Plus, maybe I'm dreamer, but I'm very interested in what Babich and McD can get out of Darrick Forrest.
  9. This would be close to a worse case scenario IMHO... I think at this point there are better WR's left than any of the DT's except Norman-Lott who may be the best pass rushing DT in this Draft after Graham and Harmon... I'm not crazy about any of the DE's here value-wise, and I'm not really interested in a Safety here at all... If I was Beane in this Mock I'd take Jaylin Noel at 56...
  10. I like them both... But I think Grant has the better upside and is clearly better at getting the ball carrier to the ground when he gets in range. I also think Grant will be better vs. the run, and can be (maybe) just as good as Harmon on passing downs with some refinement. That being said there is always some boom-or-bust factor to upside, and Harmon does feel like the safer prospect right now.
  11. It was definitely more their Offensive philosophy IMHO... He led their team in receiving yards easily. They ran the ball almost twice as much as they passed it. They had a stud RB... I definitely think Thornton will go by the end of Day 3... Just too much upside. It may be boom or bust... But I don't think that matters much. I just think that kid is picture perfect made for the last piece of the Bills "everybody eats" puzzle. If that is the way the Bills are going to build this WR room, and I have no reason to believe they're not, then they should do everything they can to get into position to Draft Thornton on Day 2. But that's just me...
  12. I don't want this to sound like I'm writing the kid off or that he has no chance to redeem himself, etc... But McD was clear in this presser that Ogunjobi was signed as a back up 3-tech to Ed Oliver...Ogunjobi signed a one-year, $8.3 million contract... That is NOT a vet minimum contract... One year or not. Once again 2 pressers go by with extended conversations about the DT position with no mention of a 3rd round Draft pick from last years Draft. So... I'm not sure there is any other way to look at it... Dwayne Carter is on notice. This is a DEEP Draft at DT, especially for guys who can rotate in at 3-tech...If the Bills Draft a DT with interior flexibility by the end of the 5th round I don't know if there is a spot left for Carter. Especially once Ogunjobi returns from his suspension.
  13. He needs to lose an absolute ton of weight...
  14. I really like Harmon... I feel like he's the kind of prospect the Bills never Draft. And I don't think that's a good thing. I'm not a big fan of JT at 56, especially with Ezeiruaku still on the board. TBH I'm not a JT guy at all...I think he's just OK. I realize they are very different players, but EZ has some elite pass rush upside and he would be a steal at 56. I like Bond, but I think he's more of a slot/gadget guy... I would take Darian Porter in that spot and figure out a way to Draft Dont'e Thornton a little later instead.
  15. Goodness... So young... I remember him very well... RIP Matt...
  16. There's nothing quite like Maddy Glab talking about watching tape on a prospect... That's my favorite thing...
  17. They were a run 1st offense behind Dylan Sampson. Thornton easily led the team in receiving yards with 661, and the team leader in receptions only had 39 total. They had 584 rushing attempts and only 373 passing attempts on the season. And they spread the ball around. 9 players had 10 or more receptions and at least 100 yards total in 2024. They run a funky Offense. Not a lot of routes...screens and shorter passes.
  18. Yep... I'm not sure how high Thornton will go because there is a lot of projection, a lot of upside, and some built in risk... But a healthy almost 6-5 WR with 4.3 flat speed, no known off the field issues, and a ceiling a mile high? That does not sound like a Day 3 guy to me... It only takes one team out of 32... That's not a comment on where he should go... That's just reality...
  19. This is one that I would prefer not to agree with you on, but my gut is telling me you're correct. And I would be lying if I did not say I had the exact same feelings about Kincaid by the end of last year. In fact I had a conversation with my nephew a few weeks ago and I said my worry with Kincaid is that he's just not physical enough to hold up in the NFL. He can't just be a finesse TE, especially in this Offense because that would really resign him to a limited role. I don't know... Hope my gut is wrong. I think he can get stronger. Just wonder if he's got that dog in him.
  20. Just having fun on a Sunday afternoon...
