Marrone was upset at the Buffalo Media
KOKBILLS replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm probably saying too much just by writing this...but I can tell y'all without a doubt that Marrone has issues with the media that border on complete paranoia...To say that he was not the most popular guy at OBD is the understatement of the century... -
Marrone could be headed to Jets

I hope he goes to NY...2 easy wins a year vs. a team with no offense... -
Doug Marrone opts out of contract
KOKBILLS replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow! Good riddance St Doug... -
I hope so as well...It's funny because there was an awful lot of questions concerning Spikes effect on the locker room coming in...But there is no question that Defense had some very nice chemistry going on...And I think Spikes was a big part of that...

What about a trade for Matt Schuab
KOKBILLS replied to clearwater cadet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Amen... -
I agree...I just wonder about Spikes though...Every team views him as a situation MLB...And he's got a real nice role on a real good Defense now...I just wonder if...at the end of the day...it will be better for him to just stay in Buffalo for a little less than he can get elsewhere...I don't think any team is going to be lining up to break the bank for Spikes anyway...He seems to really like it in Buffalo...We'll see I guess...

Raiders interested in Russ Brandon
KOKBILLS replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Raiders would have to blow him away with an offer...He's a WNY guy...Unless of course they were going to send him packing...Which I highly doubt... -
Agreed... I've always been a HUGE Sanchez-basher...I mean...I hated the guy...But I have to admit he impressed me this year...He went out, worked hard, and proved he's still a serviceable NFL QB...I'd still like to see him cut down on the INT's...Sometimes he just throws terrible passes that make you shake your head...But he did complete 64% of his passes in an Offense he just learned...The Bills could do worse than bringing him in to compete with EJ...

So this is what it's come to? I would not give a plug-nickle for Schaub...He seems to have hit his career wall and turned into an INT machine... Next... -
Where was Cyrus K. this year? I dont get it.

Oh no...Sorry I thought you were referring to Kujo...Should have actually read what you wrote... My bad... And the story with Richardson, at least as far as the Sr Bowl was concerned, was that he was WAY overweight...At least that was the excuse I read many times over... -
Joe B just lost all credibility, Part II
KOKBILLS replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I should say I'm a HUGE Cam Newton fan...So believe me I'm not trying to knock Winston when I make that comparison...It's a compliment... I realize they were different College QB's...I really do understand the differences...I understand that Winston played in a more complex Offense in College than Cam did...I get that...I also understand he's a very good QB prospect...But I do think physically he's WAY more Newton than Luck...I think (and it's nothing more than my opinion) that had Newton gone to FSU and played in that system he would have had similar success to Winston...I think Cam can do anything he wants to do...And it's not like it's a bash on Winston to compare him to another #1 overall QB...I just see very similar athletes in Winston and Newton...And once Cam came to the NFL he proved pretty quickly that he could fling it... And it's the cerebral part you spoke of, not to mention the out-of-this-world work ethic that Luck has, that clearly separates him from Winston...I love Winston as a prospect based solely on his ability between the lines...But all the other stuff with him has me incredibly concerned and doubting very much he'll ever be an Andrew Luck-type of NFL QB...I do however think if he stays out of trouble that he will be a Cam Newton type of NFL QB...And that's pretty darn good btw... -
I tend to agree...Though I do think they'll Draft another mid-round OG... IMHO The cap situation is going to prevent the Bills from going big at OG in Free Agency...I don't think they'll let Hughes walk...The Bills best chance at improving is to keep that Defense together and hope Kiko's return actually bolsters it further...That means Hughes is a must-sign...That's not going to leave much for an OG...Or probably much else unless Mario clears up some serious space...We'll see...

Oh I agree...But I think at that point he was basically playing on one leg...I think the knee was really bothering him at that point and that carried into the Combine...He did not really start showing improvement till April... -

Those scouts better have a plan B career-wise... I'm no Winston-basher...But I would say he more favorably compares to Cam Newton...The Luck comparison is ridiculous and unfair to Winston...Luck is the best QB prospect to come out since Peyton Manning... -

Something...I'm guessing the knee...was obviously bothering Kujo directly after his Jr. year...There was plenty of speculation that the knee was bothering him throughout his final year at Alabama...By the time he got to his second pro day he was moving better and had cut his 40 time to a 5.42...Which admittedly is still pretty slow...But there was plenty of indication that he looked much better by the second pro day, and was moving better...However...The feeling was his footwork was still pretty raw and needed a lot of work... The whole Sr Bowl deal, Combine, workouts stuff, is overblown anyway...Scouting is always going to be heavy on the actual game film...And while Kouandjio did struggle at times he also had very good games against top College competition...He's raw...Everyone knew that...He needs work...His footwork has to be improved and he has to get stronger...The reality is he should have stayed at Alabama another year...That's why his rookie year in the NFL ended up being basically a red-shirt season...He was not ready...That much is clear... I would not assume anything about Kujo one way or the other where the future is concerned...He absolutely has enough upside to be a very solid NFL RT...Is Kouandjio really that much less athletic than a guy like Phil Loadholt? He could also completely bust out if he can't improve the footwork and strength...We'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out... -

I liked the Kujo pick...I think...despite his lack of great athleticism he clearly showed at times during his Alabama career that he could get after it...Just look at his performances vs LSU...He's moving just fine against really good athletes...I think he'll get better and more fluid when he's not thinking so much...It was a big jump for him...He was 20 years old when he got Drafted...But no question he looked absolutely terrible in preseason...He needed the redshirt year for sure... All that being said there was a couple REAL studs Drafted after Kouandjio including Jeremy Hill and Jarvis Landry...Had the Bills Drafted Preston Brown at #44 and Kujo in the 3rd it would probably look a lot better at this point...But by no means is Kouandjio finished...I do doubt very much he'll ever be an NFL OG...He's too long...I think he'll be the Bills third OT next year...Henderson is going to make it tough for Kouandjio to crack the starting line-up...But when someone gets hurt he'll get his chance...Then we'll see how far he's come... -
Not surprising to me that Marrone would be angry with Whaley

They were all thrilled with EJ and at one point or another (after the Draft) Marrone, Whaley, and Nix all gushed about EJ... -
There are NO good Qbs available
KOKBILLS replied to Buffalo Boy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Of all the QB's that have been at least rumored to possibly be available Foles would be my clear choice... He's had his ups and downs...But considering what may or may not be out there I can't imagine the Bills can do much better than a young QB with a career 47 TD's to only 17 INT's...I think Foles would be a decent upgrade to Orton/EJ...The rest of the possibilities leave much to be desired...I guess Sanchez would be my second choice... That being said I think it's better than a 75% chance that EJ will be the starter in week #1 of the 2015 season... -
Well...Orton was not good enough in that area either...So... Go back and look at the tape...EJ struggles in this area and left HUGE plays on the table due to it...More importantly in closed quarters when all they needed was a quick accurate pass EJ was all too often off target...Slightly behind...too low...too high...Those are drive killers when they should be simple pitch and catch... I'm not saying EJ can't improve in this area...I was not really on-board with benching EJ anyway...Though I understood why Marrone did it...But he has to get much better at simply hitting receivers in stride...If he does the sky is the limit for him...
-
I know I've said this a million times here...But if EJ had simply hit 50% of the passes to receivers in stride who were open when he read the Defense properly instead of throwing too low, too high, behind them, etc...He'd be a top 15 QB easily...He has every single intangible necessary to be a good NFL QB except the ability to consistently hit open receivers in stride...Every NFL QB makes mistakes, throws into coverage, gets hurried due to pass rush, etc...Every single one of them...But the good ones burn you when they properly read the Defense and have an open receiver...That's the area EJ HAS to improve...The low and high passes, throwing behind open receivers, especially on 3rd down...That has to go...
-
True...No question... Outside of Luck and Wilson you have to go all the way back to 2008 and Matt Ryan to find a top 15 QB Drafted into the league... That's 3 top 15 QB's in 8 Drafts... No getting around it...That's not good...
