  1. I agree. I have been saying for awhile that it would not surprise me if the Bills took a wide receiver or tight end in the first day of the draft. Possibly even with one of our first two picks. Granted we need a stud at linebacker, but lets face it we need a number 2 receiver badly. Peerless Price is NOT physical and certainly does not fight hard for passes when tightly covered. He is not a number 2 receiver. Reed and Parrish serve a purpose as slot receivers. But we really need that big number 2 threat to compliment Lee. I don't know much about Meachem, but another downfield weapon gets me REALLY excited!!
  2. If the Bills feel that Michael Turner is better than any running back they can draft after the first round, and that pretty much means anyone other than Peterson and Lynch, than they would be stupid to not offer there 2nd round pick for him. Basically, they wait until there pick at 12 comes up, if Peterson is gone and they don't want Lynch, than they make the play for Turner. Best scenario when they come to 12 and A-pete and Willis are gone, is they trade down for another second or third, draft Poz or whomever else they love at linebacker at say 17, trade there second to San Diego for Turner and still have 3 other first day picks to draft CB and whatever else suits there fancy.
  3. Walker not making the team? I see him playing a lot of snaps in a rotation with McCargo, Tripplet and Kyle Williams. Say goodbye to Tim Anderson. Darwin Walker will upgrade our D-line!!
  4. Did Leif Larsen ever actually play a down in a regular season NFL game? And if he did actually play, did he ever record a tackle? I sometimes think he was an "urban legend" for bench pressing enthusiasts.
  5. Peters and Dockery manning the left side of our line are going to be the AFC's version of what Seattle had going a couple years ago with Walter Jones and Steve Hutchinson. I am still a little worried about RG though. Duke Preston just has not impressed me whatsoever in the past two years. He either has to step up, or there needs to be some fierce competition between Whittle, Merz and Butler to start. Who thinks we draft a guard to play on the rightside first day?
  6. Now that we have a good DT in the fold, I think after getting a solid running back and linebacker with probably our first two picks, that we very well may look for another deep threat in a big wide receiver. Or, I would not be shocked if we got Pozluzny and somehow got right back in the first round and took the tight end Olsen from the U. (Assuming A-Pete is gone when we pick at 12) We can than use one of our other 3rds to get the RB we need. Marv is going to make the necessary moves to make us a contender once again. Go Bills
  7. Oh, how could I forget, one of those five picks would have to be our new stud running back either in the 2nd or third round.
  8. What do you think about trading down, taking Poz later in the first round or whoever they like best say anywhere betweeb 15 and 20, than taking David Harris in the 2nd to man the middle? (He is a tackling machine) And we would still have another 2nd and two thirds, or three thirds to take a CB, DL and possibly a big number two type receiver. That would be like Christmas in April!! How big of a difference would there be between Willis and Harris manning the middle for us?
  9. All I can say to all the "London Lovers" is look where we ended up in run defense the past two seasons. Changes had to be made. I don't think anyone on this board would have been happy if we gave London the contract that Washington did. Leadership is great if it translates into wins on the field. Enough said.
  10. Why are you so concerned about the guys we have lost or our about to lose? We have won nothing with Clements, Spikes, Willis and London. Everyone gets so caught up in these so called "name players". We have not gone to one playoff game with any of them. One of the big problems with this team over the past few years is that our supposed best players were not that good. Willis has done nothing since 2004, ditto for Spikes, Nate was inconsistent at best, and London has consistently gotten run over for years. The guys we are getting rid of have no upside, still want big contracts, and and are not positive influences on the team. Why do I want to keep them? Marv and Dick know that. The guys we are keeping (Kelsay, A-Train, K-Thomas, Lindell) and signing (Dockery, Walker) the Bills feel still have a lot of upside potential as well as are good team players and locker room guys. What a lot of you are forgetting is that team chemistry is very important. I think we have upgraded that quality considerably. The upgrades on the O-line, continued improvement of JP, a second year under the new regime, add in some quality players in the draft, and I think we are moving in the right direction. The guys we let go of were not leading us to the playoffs. Management knew this. To be down at this point in the offseason is shortsighted and depressing.
  11. To have a successful defense we need more than three good linebackers. If we can add Willis and Pozluzny and still get a decent running back in the third round than I will be very satisfied. Unless the Bills really love one of there reserves (Haggen, Stamer, Degregorio, or Wire) to play a lot, adding two studs at linebacker makes this unit the strong point on our defense.
  12. Spikes play steadily improved to marginal by the end of the season. The bottom line is he is NO LONGER A GAMECHANGER. I just don't get why everyone is so worked up about losing Spikes and Fletcher. Our run D was terrible last year, and those two guys had a whole lot to do with it. Have trust and faith in Marv and Dick that they know what they're doing. Come opening day, I think we will all be please with our linebacking group. Tell me again how many playoff games we won or played in with Spikes, Fletcher and Clements. If the Steelers can let Joey Porter go while he is still somewhat in his prime, than the Bills can certainly let a damaged Spikes go.
  13. Dude, you have got to relax a bit. The fact that we have improved the O line is a godsend. It has been terrible for years. If this line plays like we hope it can and can finally open some holes for the run game, and our other young players get better as you would expect with more experience, we could be looking at a 3-4 win increase. Also, getting rid of Willis and anybody else with a negative attitude will only help matters. And if we get at least the same contributions from this years draft class as last years, I see us having at least a very good shot at a wild card. Try and drink some of the Kool aid, it makes life more enjoyable. GO BILLS
  14. D'Brick was overrated. I am glad the Bills did not end up taking him. Schobel ate him up in there meeting in the Meadowlands last year. He looked like he hadn't a clue. I like Peters a whole lot better at left tackle. Don't worry about the Jests, as long as they pop gun shooting Pennington, they aren't going anywhere. GO BILLS
  15. My god if the Bills really like Chris Brown and want him to be there man carrying the rock than they should not be cheap about signing him. They obviously wanted Dockery and Walker a lot so they went out and paid them good money to get them to sign. If we really like a guy, than we should pay them market value. I don't think that who we sign is based that much on how much money they are asking for. I think it is based on how much the Bills really like them. I don't think the Bills are really that crazy about Chris Brown. If they were and thought he was the future at running back, than we would have signed him by now. Despite what everyone thinks about the Bills being cheap with there "cash to cap" economics, the truth is that they will pay if they want to keep or sign someone. (see: Kelsay, Dockery, Walker) I doubt we ever sign Chris Brown. And for god sakes has there ever been so much discussed about a marginal running back who is currently out of a job? Marv, either sign him or tell the world we don't want him so we can move on to the next subject. PLEASE
  16. If Okoye, Willis and Peterson are all off the board when we pick at 12, we can trade down a few spots and probably still get Branch and add some picks as well, than trade back into the first round and get Pozluzny, the best corner left on the board, or maybe the tight end from Miami Olsen. All of a sudden Alan Branch sucks, what did he lose one of his legs? He will be a beast in the pros.
  17. Interesting. Are you saying we go with the big ten pairing of Leon Hall and Ashton Yobouty as our starting corners with Terrence McGee as the nickel back? Basically two rookies starting. Both skilled but rookies nonetheless. McGee's best coverage seems to be when he is covering an inside slot receiver.
  18. I got to meet Takeo last year doing his rehab down in Atlanta. He worked out at the same gym as me. (Also saw Jamal Lewis and Hines Ward there as well for what its worth) The man was not very positive about the upcoming season, and was very pissed when the Bills took Whitner with the first pick instead of Ngata or Bunkley. While he was working out hard, his attitude about the team in general was pretty poor. I think he is a clubhouse lawyer who is only happy when he has a lot of veterans surrounding him. (gives him that comfort zone) His play last year for the most part was average on good days and god awful on other days. Did you ever remember guys running thru his tackles like they did last year? I won't lose sleep if he gets cut or traded. The national media will roast us if we cut him, but at this point in his career he is just a name. The guy had no lateral movement whatsoever last year.
  19. Please, Carr has happy feet every time he drops back from center. His line in Houston was not top notch, but anytime a QB is getting sacked as much as he was, the QB has to take some of the blame.
  20. There QB situation is a mess. Even though we have a lot of holes to fill, the biggest thing we have going is that our QB is on the verge of being something special. He can play. As long as we have that, we can fill in the rest. Trent Green behind the porous Miami line? Bad things man, bad things.
  21. Trent Green is washed up. He looked horrible in the playoff game against Indy. I think the concussion he took in week 1 really took a lot out of him. Another brilliant move by the Fish. Will they bring in Jeff George to back him up?
  22. When you are talking about Leon Hall the bigh question is this. Is he better or will he better than Ashton Yobouty? I watched a lot of Leon Hall the past 4 years being a big Michigan fan. (Go Blue) He has very sound fundamentals as far as playing tight coverage on the shorter routes and fighting for the football. He also has good hands when it comes to making interceptions. However, in the Rose Bowl and against Ohio State he was torched by Dwayne Jarrett and several OSU receivers. In other words, he played small in big games. Ashton has better size, and he was also a player at OSU. I liked what I saw from Yobouty in the short time he played last year. So I don't think Hall is that big if any of an upgrade from Yobouty. I think the Bills like Yobouty a lot. That is part of the reason they let Nate go without a fight. Given that they have Yobouty, I do not see us drafting a DB in the first round. We have much greater needs on defense, and that is in the front seven. We need at least one if not two solid linebackers to add to the mix, especially if TKO is physically done. And lets not forget that we still need a big man to stop the run. At RB, I like Chris Brown and think if healthy he will have a better year than Willis. This guy has a burst with some moves, and there is not too much mileage on the treads. I think they should draft a running back no earlier than the 3rd or 4th round (Lorenzo Booker) and put him in the mix with Brown, Thomas and Jackson. I also would not be suprised if we draft a tight end in the first three rounds. That need may be greater than at DB. We can never have enough weapons for JP the gunslinger.
  23. I have been wearing that jersey since 1996. It still hangs in my closet and gets worn on the occasional game day when I feel we really need to bring out some of that old magic. He was one bad ass coming off of the edge.
  24. The Bills need some gamechanging playmakers on offense. Right now we do not have many other than Lee. If Adrian Peterson is off the board when we pick, I think we take Marshawn Lynch or trade down a few picks and hopefully take him at 15 or 16 depending on what the teams directly behind us need. (Green Bay needs a running back big time) I think the Bills would be happy going into the season with a defense that is above average to the decent range. What I think they really want to improve on is there offense. If we get the offense in high gear, (which will happen with a more experienced JP) we can win a lot games with an above average defense. And of course our great special teams. I would not be suprised if we drafted another receiver and/or tight end in the first three rounds. I think Marv is playing possum, and will have some big suprises come draft day. Adding Lynch, and another big time receiver very well could happen despite our needs on D. Remember, we can still draft a first day DL and LB, in addition to getting Lynch and another downfield threat.
  25. Don't forget they still have a QB that started maybe six games in his career. Jay Cutler will not have it easy next year. You can bet that teams playing the Broncos will watch film of him from last year, and come up with a defense to defend him successfully. Remember the last two games of 2006, Denver should have lost to Cinci, but the snap on the extra point that would have tied the game was horrible, and the holder had no chance to get the ball down. Then, in there last game against San Francisco, the Broncos blew a 4th quarter lead, and missed the playoffs because of the loss. My point is that the Broncos are a paper tiger. They lost 4 of there last 6 games with one of those wins being the above mentioned against the Bengals. They have a very young and erratic QB. So don't get all excited about them signing an injury prone #3 possession receiver.
