Do We Have a Better Team Now than at the End of 2008 ?
Paup 1995MVP replied to Kenwick's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude, you seem to have some knowledge of football, but your bitterness towards the coaching staff is way over the top. We drafted the TOP TWO guards in this years draft. We let go of one of the most overrated players in football, who did not want to play for us. Good O lines are not solely based on pure talent. The best O lines are a bunch of grinders who wear you down, and play physical, tough and hard on every down. (2007 Giants) Peters at his best did not do this on every play, and Dockery NEVER played hard. Preston and Fowler played soft AND had no talent. I think you will see a whole different attitude with our O line from day one of preseason. An attitude of toughness set by the O line can do wonders for a teams psyche. Just watch and wait. Maybe you will even smile at the new attitude that we will see this year. GO BILLS!! -
2nd greatest regular season comeback in NFL History
Paup 1995MVP replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was an awesome game. I remember watching on the Sunday Ticket in my house in Atlanta and running out onto my front yard with my buddies screaming like we had just won the Super Bowl. My ex wife was going to have our first child a week later. My daughter is now close to 12, I have two boys right behind her, have been divorced for over a year, but still LOVE the Bills. The more things change the more they stay the same. Memories from games like that are reasons that we all keep watching and loving the Bills my friends. Here's to this year being the year WE TURN IT AROUND!!! -
You are stupid. Marshawn is a tough football player, who will have a tremendous year with above average blocking. I love him on the Bills, and you should too. Oh, and by the way this is football in 2009. Every team has some thugs. That is the nature of the sport, and the type of people and mentality the game attracts. The guy has made some mistakes. But a guy with his kind of talent will get more chances to succeed as he should.

Trade Whitner while we still can
Paup 1995MVP replied to Heart Throb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude, you proved my point. He is always going to be playing banged up, because he is too small. Please start your own Donte Whitner fan club -

Paup 1995MVP replied to Heart Throb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea Whitner is just a stud, I forgot. My point is he is small, and plays small. Watch him try and cover any tight end who is over six feet tall. Sure Whitner doesn't suck, but he sure doesn't have the athletic ability or the football instincts that you would expect from a first round pick, let alone a high first round pick. Whitner hasn't been a big problem, but he sure hasn't been the solution. -

Paup 1995MVP replied to Heart Throb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The hit on Ochosinco was sweet. But I want to see a whole lot more of that. Looking at Whitner compared to Troy P. and Ed Reed, he just looks a lot shorter. But that is just my observation. -
Trade Whitner while we still can
Paup 1995MVP replied to Heart Throb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Everyone can B word on this board on how we should not trade Whitner because we do not have anyone more talented than him at his position on the roster. And a lot of you say he is one of the few leaders on defense. But leaders are made and respected by what they do on the field. And Donte Whitner has definitely not lead with his PLAY on the field!! (And I do not think that getting run over on one play is grounds to trade someone.) Two big problems with Whitner. 1) He is just too physically small to play Safety in the NFL. Consequently, he will get run over at times, and get injured a bunch. 2) He does not have a lot of talent for whatever reason. Not much of a burst, and his instincts in the passing game are marginal at best. Plays a lot more like a 6th rounder talent wise, than a 1st rounder. And I have watched every game he has played in. One of the reasons that we have not been a top flight team as of late is because we have a lot of Donte Whitners starting-guys with minimal talent. (At least we have gotten rid of the many marginal O lineman we have had for years) Oh, and Jason Peters had some talent, but played like he was marginal, because he had no drive. I am really curious to see what Jarious Byrd brings to the table with his game. Some guys just have the instincts to find the football and some guys don't. -
Sure the A train was a moving statue. His best years were at Michigan from 1997-2000. However, you are way off base about Rhodes. He is a SOLID NFL player, simple as that. He is not Adrian Peterson, but the guy knows how to play the game, and will make the occasional big play. Did you watch his winning touchdown on the flare pass from Payton last year against the Steelers? The guy ran a perfect route. Teams that win have players up and down their rosters like Dominic Rhodes for depth and the occasional spot start. So saying that he will be cut when Lynch comes back is just ignorant.

Steamroller, aren't you the guy who was so anti-marijuana in the thread circulating around not too long ago? If not I apologize. But I believe you were. So I am thinking you probably worked for the Bush administration in some capacity given your social views.

I agree. Mike Tyson was convicted of allegedly raping a woman. He served his time (I believe 3-4 years). When he was released from prison he was allowed to fight again. Vick went to prison and has paid a high price. He will be a free man. I see no reason why the NFL should ban him from playing. I am sure he realizes what he did was wrong. The hatred that some have for him is just astonishing. Young people make mistakes-IN ALL WALKS OF LIFE. All you self rightous judgmental people need to put this to rest, and come to grips with why you really hate Vick.

Rookies That Are Showing Well In Camp
Paup 1995MVP replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With the amount of injuries our DB's seem to suffer every year, Ellis Lankster could very well be seeing a lot of playing time, at least in nickel packages at some point in the season. From the reports from OTA's, etc. it sounds like the guy has at least some instincts for playing the position. And that is a good thing. I would rather hear this than, the guy looks lost out there. -
Dude, totally agree. The Atlanta summer heat is just miserable. The air is stagnant, absolutely no breeze and mid 90's by noontime. And NOONE is outside in this mess. And by midsummer, the pools are TOO HOT to swim in from the neverending heat. I love the cold winters, and there is almost no COLD days in Atl. The best thing the South has to offer over Buffalo is the WOMEN. Nothing against anyone who has a Buffalo woman in their life. (I am sure there are SOME attractive ones) But on the whole in my opinion Buffalo has some of the ugliest women collectively that I have ever seen. The gene pool for beauty is just not there. Anyone want to flame away they can. But I have to go jump in my pool because I am too hot.

Totally agree about the heat being brutal in the South. I live in Atlanta and it was 98 degrees yesterday afternoon and was still in the mid 80's around midnight with plenty of humidity. The air was just stifling like you were walking in a blast furnace. It should stay that hot for the next few days. It is not always THAT HOT, but there are many days like that well into September EVERY year. (I remember two summers ago when the temp guage in my car said 106 when I was driving on the highway-and my son had to start training camp for pee wee football in that heat!!) That being said I went to middle school and high school in Buffalo from 76-83, than went to college in Michigan and than moved to Atl. in 87, so I have been away for a long time. My mother has stayed in Buffalo however. This past Feb. I took my three kids up to Buf. for a visit and just had a blast. The people were very friendly, and the charm and quaintness that the area still had was very cool. It still feels like a large small town. I just got a sense of pride in the community from everyone. It made me very proud to tell my kids this is where I grew up. I doubt I would move back up there because I have a successful business in Atl. But I think that Buffalo has a lot of positives to it if you can get a good paying job there. And I will always consider it MY HOMETOWN!!! And to be quite honest, living in the heat is very overrated. I miss the cold of the winter.

Because the guy who he killed walked in front of Stallworth's car. It wasn't like Donte ran a light, or drove up on the curb and creamed the guy. I believe there was some very strong contributory negligence on the victim. Nonetheless, it is a sad situation when anyone is killed like that.

NFL Network Top Ten Innovations
Paup 1995MVP replied to Schobel94's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe that was the end of Anthony Phillips career if I am not mistaken. He was really never able to come back completely from such a devastating injury. And I think the guy was a pretty good player. Thanks for the nice recap of that game. It was actually quite an exciting game, as most of our games used to be. -

Anthony Phillips-DB for the Falcons. That was a tremendous game at the Ralph in the 95 season I believe. Kurt Schultz intercepted Jeff George in the end zone to seal the victory. -
The Chroise is going to be spread!
Paup 1995MVP replied to bladiebla's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seriously, how old are you? Have you graduated high school yet? I sincerely hope not because if you are older than 18, than you are either totally inmature or have an IQ of about 52. Either way, why don't you go post on some Cartoon network or nickelodean message board where you can also exult the greatness of Hannah Montana or the new Transformer movie? You embarrass yourself and everyone who is a Bills fan with your nonsense. -
Football is a physically brutal game. Once you suffer a serious leg injury, be it knee, ankle, achilles, etc. it is very difficult to come back and play at the same level as before. Not impossible but difficult. (See Sam Cowart, Takeo Spikes, etc.) At his absolute best Crowell was a good but certainly not great player. And his tackling skills were abysmal. I don't think the Bills are all broken up that Angelo Crowell is no longer a member of their team. Does anyone really think he is going to do much the rest of his NFL career?

Bills exploring building a new stadium
Paup 1995MVP replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why should Ralph invest in something that is not going to give him a good return? Would you invest in something that would not make you a good return on your investment? I sure hope not genius. Do you think Jerry Jones built his palacial stadium to lose money? HELL NO!!! But any word about a potential new stadium for the Bills in the Buffalo area is great news even if it may be a pipe dream. -
Jason Peters Pass-Blocking Skills
Paup 1995MVP replied to bourbonboy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jason Peters is terrible. Do any of you actually watch the O-line play during a game? Why do you all think he is so good? He consistently gets beat around the outside. He does NOT have a quick first step into his drop. It is as simple as that. The proof that he sucks is in the games. Don't listen to what all the "talking heads" say. WATCH THE GAMES!! He played TERRIBLE last year. Langston Walker is much more sound fundamentally. And that will make up for whatever he lacks athletically compared to Peters. Why should Brandon have given in to a guy who skipped out on ALL offseason work, and played with no heart after that? If this were any other team you would be saying that the player was a bum, and the front office should cut him. -
Jason Peters Pass-Blocking Skills
Paup 1995MVP replied to bourbonboy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is just flat out wrong. When you are the LT and someone is coming from your outside left shoulder and taking a wide rush as Elam did, the LT (who was not blocking anyone on the inside) has to step out and at least knock the little safety off his stride enough to give JP a little time to make a play. -
Jason Peters Pass-Blocking Skills
Paup 1995MVP replied to bourbonboy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is an asinine statement. How was the fat slug supposed to get any coaching when he stayed away from our team the entire offseason and training camp in 2008? And than when he did play, he admitted he basically did not give a sh-t. This is the first step in Philly admitting that Peters is no good. Now, they are trying to salvage him. If the guy is as good as some in the know say, than no way who should he need any reteaching of his technique at the position. I have said all along that the guy is "just not very good", and I will stand by that. Everybody likes to bash the Bills FO, but they knew what Peters was all about and his level of play. He has no upside from where he has been. There was no way we were going to pay him a mega contract and rightfully so. -
Jaws: Edwards is going to be a tremendous NFL quarterback
Paup 1995MVP replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why do you enjoy being so negative about everything the Bills do??? Is that how believe you are supposed to be as a fan? My god it has been 5 months since last season ended. Sure we haven't made the playoffs in many years, but are you so miserable with the team that you refuse to find anything positive out of the offseason? My God, every season hope springs eternal. That is what is AWESOME about rooting for the team. As long as someone as cool as Jim Kelly loves the Bills and is a fixture in his association with the team, I am right alongside him in my support. Until we suck it up again, I am always going to think that THIS is our year. And if you can't get excited about having one of the greatest receivers of all time running routes for us, with the show he is going to bring, than dude it is time for you to go root for another team. I am curious, were you a fan during the Super Bowl years? Anyone who was a huge fan than, and got so much enjoyment out of those teams, should never give up their loyalty to the current teams. For all the joy they gave us, we owe it to the franchise to never turn our backs on them. I will ALWAYS be a huge fan. Sure I will be upset about losses. But they are still my team. So find some of the love, or go root for the Texans.
