  1. I know this thread will probably get closed just like the "Same Old Bills" one did but I see it as quite the opposite...Brandon said things were going to be different and they are. This is the antithesis of a Wilson/Nix hire.
  2. I'd like to ask...for those who are calling this a marketing decision...is their a deficiency in the Syracuse market that the Bills need to address regarding ticket sales or are people just make simplistic arguments for the sake of being pessimistic? It just doesn't make sense...who are they going to convince to come to games besides Syracuse alums/fans who aren't fans right now...how much of a market share can that really be?
  3. Jerry Sullivan ‏@TBNSully Russ Brandon confirms by text that the Bills have agreed in principle to hire Doug Marrone as new head coach. Brandon called him "dynamic".
  4. Interesting, since Sully reported that Brandon confirmed it to him.
  5. Mortensen just said the Browns are basically rebooting their head coach search because they lost out on Kelly and Marrone.
  6. Ok...I am sick of all of the damn negativity...where is The Senator?
  7. Confirmed by Sully Jerry Sullivan ‏@TBNSully Russ Brandon confirms by text that the Bills have agreed in principle to hire Doug Marrone as new head coach. Brandon called him "dynamic".
  8. For those saying he was the cheapest option - The Bills were bidding against at least 2 teams (loser of the Kelly sweepstakes and San Diego) and he was the second hottest college name after Kelly. I guarantee he will get paid more than any NFL coordinator who gets hired. That argument doesn't carry water. Now you can debate the move on merit but this doesn't seem like a cheap hire in the least.
  9. And he's kissing some backside without implying that he thinks they've got it in the bag.
  10. Not so sure it's better for Buffalo as it is worse for Cleveland...Cleveland sources already spinning like Marrone might have been their first choice all along.
  11. I was actually just thinking that. It's been a quiet day...it's basically just us and the Browns right now as the other openings need GM spots filled as well. Watch they'll have an announcement in 5 minutes now.
  12. Erroneous! Tim Graham ‏@ByTimGraham I've now been told the USA Today report is erroneous. Based on the reaction to my tweet about it, you're all happy to learn that.
  13. You must not be very familiar with Chris Brown's work.
  14. Does anyone else think the QB needy teams at the top of the draft will go for the high-ranked players at the other positions first and then try to trade back into the 1st later in the round for the QB?
  15. So does everyone love Marrone since he is the hot name out there now?
  16. Fritz Shurmur has been dead for almost 15 years but his son Pat would do just fine
  17. Why would he take the interview if he ahd no intention of even considering the job? He doesn't need the leverage with Philly and Cleveland ready to go to war for him not to mention Oregon will always be lurking with a possible offer to woo him to stay. He must be open to the job at some level at least.
  18. i'll take Whaley. Time to move forward...let him take the reins and hire his own coach.
  19. Well I remember him being caught off-guard and disappointed when Gailey was hired cause he thought he would get the job after the Vikings were done. Most of what I just googled seems to support that, including the article that I posted. Not that it matters though, my original point was that Fewell couldn't be considered a token Rooney Rule interview since they did interview both him and Frazier.
  20. Nope, he interviewed during the Vikings bye and they hired Gailey before the Vikings were eliminated so there was no opportunity for a follow up.
  21. http://www.dailynorseman.com/2010/1/18/1257834/leslie-frazier-a-victim-of Not according to that article.
  22. Eh...a HC job is a HC job. It wasn't like he was token Rooney rule interview because they also interviewed Leslie Frazier. And he's going to get his 1st head coaching job on the back of his experience under Coughlin which he didn't have the last time he interviewed.
