Schobel update -- still undecided.
Steely Dan replied to Delete This Account's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Schobel retires and then four months later he un-retires I'll give a pass but won't be happy. Every great player deserves one of those. If he does it three years in a row he won't get a pass, from me, anymore. Not strong in run support? What games were you watching? Schobel's 2010 numbers; 56 tackles, 10 sacks, 3 FF and 1 int. For comparison; Richard Seymour - 47 tackles, 4.0 sacks, 1 FF and zero int. Mario Williams - 43 tackles, 9.0 sacks, 2 FF and zero int. (2010 pro bowler) Julius Peppers - 42 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 5 FF and two int. (2010 pro bowler) Kyle Vanden Bosch - 44 tackles, 4.0 sacks, 2 FF and zero int. (2010 pro bowler) Shaun Ellis - 53 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 1 FF and zero int. (2010 pro bowler) Jared Allen - 51 tackles, 14.5 sacks, 5 FF and 1 int. (2010 pro bowler) Trent Cole - 57 tackles, 12.5 sacks, 2 FF and zero int. (2010 pro bowler) -

That was going to be my question too. Especially a playoff contender. -
Bills line up meeting with C.J. Spiller
Steely Dan replied to bobcat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even if Dan Williams is available? Al Davis was stocked at RB last year and took McFadden, what good did that do him? IMO, a team should have two very good RB's and one backup quality one. A team has to prioritize which positions to stock up on. If Spiller is available and just before their pick they are able to trade Marshawn then I'd have no problem with picking him up. IMO, RB's have to get a certain number of carries a game and having three RB's to rotate is too many. -
You have no idea what is behind all of this. Taking a guy just because they need a body there is ludicrous. His 5-10% of dark Richie probably doesn't just extend to the field. He may have been a locker room problem or insubordinate to the coaching staff. Would you want your boss to hire someone who has terrible references about their ability to get along with others?

That is a really good thought! -
You can't copyright "Did I win yet?" Bull licker!!

I don't think so. McNabb hasn't had any problems in the past and he's a respectable guy. Lynch's problem in California happened after his stupid hit and run and refusing to talk about it with the cops. When that happened I remember a lot of people, at first, sticking up for him. It seems, to me, that guys get a harder time the second time around and beyond.

I think high profile people are given the benefit of the doubt on sexual assault cases at first because a lot of women are just trying to scam for money. King saying "He needs to grow up" is uber stupid.

Womans age discrimination suit thrown out...
Steely Dan replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall Archives
It's tough to argue age discrimination when the person who replaces you is 75. I thought it might be she was replaced by a 19 year old hottie. -
Proof? Well that sucks!!

Obviously the Bills and other teams right now think nothing is better. Also, The Bills have Wood, Levitre and Hangartner in the middle right now. Hangartner is the weak link and Incognito isn't a center. If you read my posts I said he would eventually be picked up, but a lot of people here seem to believe he should be considered a top tier FA. My point is that other teams haven't contacted him and in fact a false report about the Rams being interested in him was shot down by their GM. IMO, one possible explanation for the false report is his agent putting that out to make it sound like the Rams regretted letting him go. I honestly don't think that the Bills would let him walk if they thought he would be trouble free. They seem to think he's more trouble than he's worth. If the Bills re-sign him then I'll be happy because he's a good player and his troubles must be over stated but so far that doesn't seem to be the case.

Think about it it might come to you. Think about it it might come to you.

People need to remember too that the current Bills O line coach watched him play twice a year.
-
So it's your belief that there are no teams who need a very good guard other than the Bills. I say very good because that's what a lot of people believe about him. I agree that he's above average but I also believe there are a lot of teams out there who would sign him if he didn't have the emotional problems. JMO

"Billy, have you ever been in a Turkish prison?" Wow one year and you can tell he's a bust! Jeez, give him another year. He's got the physical tools and I forget where I read it but I think one of the vets (Schobel?) said he needs to get serious about film study. If he does more film study it will probably help his game a lot.

The point is a lot of teams could probably get him cheap but aren't interested in bringing him in yet. So many people here have been biotching about not re-signing him being a sure sign of stupidity in the front office, but it appears that stupidity extends to 31 other teams at this time. He will probably sign with another team before the season but I think he may have to take some anger management classes or find out if he's bi-polar or something else that can lead to fits of anger. (I'm bi-polar but on meds that even me out.) If he can bury the bad Richie he could become a very important part of a team. JMO Just because a team could sign him cheap doesn't mean they should sign him at all. Evidently he's more trouble than he's worth at any price right now. So stop biotching about what a mistake it is to not re-sign him.

This is the latest Richie Incognito-G- Bills Mar. 8 - 9:30 am et Rams GM Billy Devaney denied that they have any interest in bringing free agent G/C Richie Incognito back. Incognito's inability to control his temper on the field led to his release and the Rams are moving on. "There is the 90 to 95 percent of Richie that is outstanding," Devaney said. "It’s the other 5 or 10 when the dark Richie kicks in and it becomes a problem." Source: St. Louis Globe-Democrat Related: Rams The front office knows more than you do, accept it. If it was really stupid for them not to tender him then you'd think he would have attracted a lot of interest by now, but he hasn't.

Good on field guy, but a guy I'd much rather not have in the Buffalo community or in the Bills locker room.

Back in the day, maybe, but I have a fear of chicks who could kill me within seconds. PMS days would require moving out to a hotel.

It's fun to think about trades you'd do, who you'd draft or trade for, but when people start calling Ralph an idiot or say the team doesn't care about winning or Buddy isn't as a good as his record indicates it becomes comical. (Look for a post to eventually follow this one saying that the reason people say the team doesn't want to win is because they don't) People begged for a leadership change and they got it. A leadership change with a lot more clout than the last one and now even before those people have been in place for three months the heavy criticism is already being thrown around.

Did you put a hit out on yourself? German, for the most part. My mother's family emigrated to America in the late 1800's. My father's family is where it gets dodgy. My grandparents on both sides are Pennsylvania Dutch but I don't know about their ancestors heritage's. I have a relative that fought in the Revolutionary war. So I don't know if all the marriages leading up to my father were Germans or not. I'd say probably at least 80% German.
