  1. If the players get guaranteed contracts, they will have to give up a large percentage of the revenue. As it is now, guaranteeing all contracts would amount to an absolutely gigantic raise in their share of the revenue.
  2. The court of appeals found that the NFL constitutes a single entity, and therefore, under Section 1 of the Sherman Antitrust act, is exempt from any of the provisions. Therefore, because the NFL is legally deemed to be one entity, it cannot be considered illegal for them to set ticket prices and salaries at whatever they want. You can't prosecute Microsoft for setting the salaries of their employees, and the NFL will be able to do the same. This ruling will go far beyond simply Jersey sales. Right now, the NFL says who can sell their jersey, and at what price. That is no different than telling people how much they can sell tickets for. If the Supreme Court does make the NFL exempt from antitrust laws, they will be able to do almost anything they want.
  3. He isnt an upgrade over ellison Grade: 57 | Key Alert: None Comment: Ellison is an undersized athletic linebacker who is coming off his second season in the league. He is a backup who is used in sub packages and to give depth to a young linebacking corps. He is most productive when covered up and able to run free. He has good straight-line speed and shows effective range sideline to sideline. He can get engulfed when engaging lineman and is best when slipping blockers to get to the pile. He can play out of control at times and needs to come to balance better in space. He has improved his coverage techniques from his rookie season, but needs to read route progressions better in combination man and zone schemes. Ellison is a finesse player who can contribute when used in long-yardage situations and on special teams.
  4. Grade: 59 | Key Alert: None Comment: Poppinga is a three-year starter at SLB who plays in regular and comes out in sub. He is an energetic playmaker who is an overachiever type player who plays with a high motor. He's a competitive player with toughness and instincts. He is an above-average athlete with good instincts and recognition skills. He can slide with above-average lateral mobility when attacking downhill gaps. He doesn't bend real well and does have a tendency to get stuck on blocks. He's not real explosive with his hands at times when separating off blocks. He has some size and functional play strength when setting the edge of the defense at the line of scrimmage. He can disrupt the timing of the tight end off the line of scrimmage, but is not real stout at times when holding his ground at the point of contact. He has some range and extended perimeter speed versus outside runs. He can open his hips with mobility and the ability to get to landmarks in underneath zones. He does an effective job of using his hands to re-route. However, he can be limited in his change of direction and short-area burst in underneath zones. He's not a real good matchup player in man-to-man situations versus the tight end. Poppinga is a limited player athletically who relies on instincts and awareness.
  5. It's not murder if you cause your own death.
  6. How does one collude with themselves? If they are ruled to be a single entity, then by definition they cannot collude.
  7. already happening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZTZpCetym0...feature=related
  8. From what I've heard, it would be a gigantic upset for the ruling to be overturned by the Supreme Court.
  9. John, I very much doubt that the players can do anything to bring Anti-Trust laws into play. This is because a federal court has recently decided that the NFL is one organization, and not a collection of separate entities. Therefore, their actions are exempt from many of the statutes of the Sherman Anti-Trust Act. edit: Yep, i'm correct. The NFL is immune from collusion laws because a Federal Appeals Court has ruled them to be a single entity http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/...ure-challenges/
  10. Seriously, try selling your blood. If you have a rare blood type, you can make tons of cash. But they will buy any kind of type.
  11. Rob Morrow (lead actor on a CBS show) named his daughter "Tu"
  12. eh I'm done arguing with you people. I could link to Belichick, Polian, Dungy, and AJ Smith saying Tebow will never amount to anything, and you guys would still say he will win 5 straight super bowls.
  13. You must be on !@#$ing crack. I have no ties to FSU, at all. So, in that whole paragraph you basically state that: Yes, his mechanics suck and that he will need to completely reinvent himself to be a top NFL prospect. So, he needs to completely overhaul his game to succeed in the NFL? You could say that of almost any mid to late round QB in the NCAA. And yeah, you can win in college even if you throw the ball terribly. Vince Young did it. I have made NOTHING up the whole time, and everything i have stated are the opinions of people who get paid lots of money to evaluate players. The reason his passing stats are so good is that his running ability keeps an extra defender or two in the box, and he has played with very good talent. As any NFL scout will tell you, his passing production is not a factor of how well or accurately he throws the ball, but of how wide open his receivers are. Now, Tebow is not a horrible QB, but he pales in comparison to the top passers in college. If we were judging him just on his ability as a QB, and not his ability to play other positions, he would be a late round to undrafted player. You need to take Tebow's balls out of your mouth and realize that, bar a miracle that he can completely reinvent himself in a few months, he is not a legit QB prospect. Clearly, you do not understand that what it takes to win in the NFL vs college is completely different. You also don't understand that there have been hundreds of players that were great in college and won a lot, but did not have the skills to be considered for the NFL. (Jason White) Also, his "new" throwing motion is still horrendous.
  14. Too bad Tebow himself says he is not altering his throwing motion, and his quote is in the more recent article. And guess what? No QB like Vick or Young will be taken in the top 5 again. Let me know when a run first QB accomplishes anything. Want to know the difference between Phillip Rivers and Tim Tebow? Rivers was a pocket passer in college and showcased the ability to read defenses and throw the ball accurately. Tim Tebow is NOT a pocket passer, and he has severe accuracy issues. He also tends to throw wobbly passes than end up as floaters. Tebow has trouble getting the ball to WRs that are not wide open, and he cannot complete throws that are within the window that NFL QBs need to be able to hit. Face it, Tim Tebow is NOT a QB prospect. If half the scouts evaluating you think you cannot be a QB, then you aren't a very good QB prospect. PS: I'm not a FSU fan.
  15. i didn't know spending $3 million less per year made you frugal.
  16. Stopped reading after that. That statement is COMPLETELY false. How many college teams run a 3-4? Exactly.
  17. Tell me, how are they contradictory? Scouts aren't raving about Tim Tebow, the columnists are. There is a BIG difference.
  18. Yeah, scouts are "alarmed" by his slow release, and throwing motion. Yet, he is doing nothing to change them. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/stor...&id=4178702 Mike Mayock on Tim Tebow being like Vince Young http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2007/12/14/mike-ma...of-vince-young/ http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/coll...0,3041309.story Shall i go on?
  19. Just saying that because teams are passing far more often, and the rules favor WRs more, 4,000 yards is no where close to the achievement it was 10 years ago.
  20. Try selling blood/semen. You can earn a decent amount of cash doing it.
  21. 4000 yards is the new 3500 yards.
  22. When do the Scouts INC scouting reports come out for the 2009 season?
  23. First of all, Gruden is about as weird of a coach as they come. Secondly, Gruden thinks he can establish a spread-option in the pros. That is why he would take Tebow, however, Gruden is off his rocker if he thinks it would work. Gruden might be salivating over him, because of some gimmick offense he might implement, but the NFL scouts are all panning Tebow. Of course, Gruden thinks every QB is good. That's why he signs 7-8 of them every year. He's a terrible evaluator of QB talent.
  24. Yeah man, 2.5 catches and 26.5 yard per game are totally Jerry Rice like!
  25. Don't you know? Everyone's parents are dead when the jokes start.
