  1. Our experiences appear to be nearly identical. I've picked up a pretty fair amount of Spanish along the way myself (most of it pretty salty) and I considered myself to be modestly capable of holding a limited conversation. Then I married a Spaniard, and I quickly learned that there is a huge difference between Castellano and Latino Spanish.
  2. I'm not so naive as to think she'll actually be prosecuted, and even if she was, it would just be a slap on the wrist. The principle of it galls me to no end, but there it is.
  3. Well then, there appears to have been a misunderstanding, because that wasn't my post.
  4. As I understand it, it's supposed to be illegal to use a personal server for State Department emails, so just having and using a separate server, home computer, etc is a violation of the law. All official correspondence is supposed to be handled strictly through official means, and to do otherwise is a criminal act. She shouldn't have anything to turn over - it should all have been left behind at her office. There shouldn't be anything at her home for her to turn over.
  5. I grew up there too - born in '57, and never personally knew a single 1st generation immigrant from Europe aside from an older couple living down the road that was a German woman married to a Ukranian man who fled Europe pre- WWII. They both knew English, though. I had plenty of friends in school whose grandparents were from 'the old country', but I never really knew any of them. And yes, I mistakenly lumped the 2nd generation with the 1st in my question.
  6. When your ex-wife is a strigoi and your main squeeze didn't travel out of state with you, then why not? I sure would have.
  7. Looks like it's time for restaurant workers to apply for some of those guaranteed Sallie Mae student loans. The robotics program that was part of my degree wasn't difficult at all.
  8. If you haven't done so already, come on down to Austin. There's a Bills Backers bar not far from where I live, so we can watch a game and I'll take you around to see the sights. Seriously, there's a massive population here that speak no English at all. It keeps them from ever earning decent money unless they either have extremely good luck or sell drugs. I'm not exaggerating. There's at least four or five people that I've known for over 10 years that can not speak one full sentence in English, except maybe 'I want beer'. The kicker is that only a couple of them are here illegally. Two of them are brothers and were raised in south Texas. Great guys, but no halba Ingles.
  9. How many first and second generation Irish, Italians, and Poles do you know? And of those, how many didn't teach their children to speak English and be thankful for growing up in America? And of those, how many came here illegally?
  10. If it ever comes to that, please have me make the cake. Seriously, I'd do it for free. I'd even take some refresher courses in pastries on my own dime.
  11. You guys really ought to stop calling it 'immigration' - it's not. Immigrants are the ones who apply for visas or go through the process of becoming citizens. That's not what the people in question are doing. The distinction is important.
  12. That would cut down on maintenance costs, that's for sure.
  13. When that happens, we'll be too worried about Skynet's destruction of humanity to care.
  14. Why should we tax higher earners at a higher rate? If everyone was taxed at the same rate with no deductions allowed, I don't see how it could possibly be any more fair than that. You combat that by focusing on education. Robotics will eventually replace more & more low-skilled workers, but they will also create a need for more programmers and repair/maintenance technicians.
  15. I know you're intention wasn't to be misleading, but whether they intentionally were or not, the person who wrote that article sure was.
  16. JTSP probably has some.
  17. I'm with you in principle on most of this stuff, but don't ignore what I posted above (post # 948). With regard to the AT&T involvement, you can take what I say as gospel.
  18. That was pretty much the original intent of the founders.
  19. A new Iranian video game simulates missile attacks on Israel: http://freebeacon.com/national-security/iranian-video-games-teach-military-strikes-on-israel/
  20. Wow, what a shame.
  21. There's nothing false about it, you dimwit. Once again you prove the complete futility of trying to discuss anything with you. If you can't see the similarity in the attraction between Sanders and Trump, then that's a testament to your total lack of perception. Your last remaining neuron is fading fast. Only if they have podcasts, because he couldn't spell 'hyperbolic partisanship' if he cut & pasted it.
