12-28: Media Day - Anthony Lynn's Presser as HC
DanInUticaTampa replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While I agree that there is something not right and a very sketchy about whaley, I don't think he wants Lynn as the next HC like a lot of us were thinking. listening to this press conference, I don't think Lynn wants to be here and I am just not seeing a lot of support from the front office publicly for him. I think our HC comes from the outside. -
Jason Cole report on Doug Whaley
DanInUticaTampa replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, to be fair I wouldn't expect a backup safety, QB, or WR to ever "dominate." If they dominated a game, they would be starters, not backups. And the Jeff Tuel thing was before he was GM. But yeah, lack of depth on this team is pretty bad. Right now it is at its worst at the safety and Oline in my opinion. you could probably argue QB too, but I don't think it is that bad. -
A Look Back at the Stevie Johnson Trade

I think it was more of a gailey thing than a fitz thing -
Joe B. "way too early" 53-man roster

Im surprised to see a buffalo news guy not putting Cassel's name on there. But we know deep down they are hoping cassel gets traded back to buffalo -
Pats once again makes NFL change rules.
DanInUticaTampa replied to PO16FFS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
it must be the boring part of the off season but i never knew the pats didnt use numbered jerseys during otas and minicamp. I dont see this being a game changer, but i can see this being needed to monitor certain players -
For those still want a Wideout
DanInUticaTampa replied to NextYearGuys's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Getting one of them would be great, especially with woods possibly not returning next year. WR to me isnt such a pressing need this season. We hardly throw the ball, and we already have sammy, woods, clay, and mccoy eating up most of those receptions. there really isn't much room for the ball to be thrown around. But because of injuries, and possibly woods departing, we need some new young WR blood to groom for depth. Easley isn't really a WR as much as a ST guy. plus his injury was.... ya know. And if I had to pick, I would take cooper. -
Bills trying to trade up for Cook - LaCanfora
DanInUticaTampa replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I doubt he will do it for cook. Our 4th rounder can't be traded. so our pick at the bottom of the third plus whatever to get a 4th rounder doesn't seem likely. Even if you trade a 4th next year (which we don't have), plus our 5th this year wouldn't be enough. I think they stay pat in the 4th round. possibly trade up in the 5th if there is someone they really like. Ragland was worth trading up for imo, even if the picks weren't totally worth what others were doing. he was a first round talent and instantly fixes are run defense -

If LaCanfora said it, it probably wrong. His source keeps giving out wrong info, like Vic's source -

NFL.com: Bills #1 need in draft is OT
DanInUticaTampa replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That would be like drafting a kick at 19. You can find a good RT in round 2 or later. They should pick the BPA. If that happens to be a tackle, then go for it. But if there is a tackle available at 19, it is most likely a player that is good enough to play LT. And mostly likley glens replacement down the road. We would be a lot better off if BPA when we pick at 19 is a LB or interior Dline. Even a safety. But a RT at 19, sounds like a wasted pick. rounds 2-4 we can get a RT. -
A little shocked by this. I was really expecting this to be an april fools joke. He couldnt have been that old

Jocquie Bell visiting bills
DanInUticaTampa replied to Bash_Gash's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it isn't as much love as it was for sammy. I think there is a chance we trade up for him, but it would be something where he drops low enough that trading up won't be too crazy. -

Bills get a 'B' in free agency so far
DanInUticaTampa replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They only lost 2 starters. shouldnt be that hard to replace mario's and nigels production from last year, since their production was really low. They can really fit those holes in the draft. But I am sure they will try to plug some other stuff in with some bargain players soon. price on a lot of these players is still too high -
Not a player, but Lou Saban seemed like quite the character. Way before my time, but he would probably be a lot of fun. Same with Kemp. Really, any of the big names before the 90s bills would be enjoyable for me. As much as I love the 90s guys, I pretty much feel like I know all their life stories by now, I doubt this show would give me anything I haven't seen or heard before.

Jahri Evans to visit the Bills
DanInUticaTampa replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is speculation that they are working out long term deals for both Glenn and Gilmore to give cap relief. I dont see us getting both guards. but it is a nice idea. Oline is pretty important for what we want to do -
It is tough to talk hypotheticals. Being strapped for cash either way, it would be tough to afford him. And if there was any draft class that was easy to draft his replacement, this would be the draft since it is really deep for the defensive line. We can probably get a decent player to replace him in round 2. I think even with swartz, they would have cut him unless he took a pay cut at 8-9 mill a year, which I don't think he would go for.

Regarding the special teams, they had the exact same coaches they had the year before. Like I said, problems with the defense shouldn't carry over into the next season. Rex Ryan was coaching top defenses even before his jets days. Based on his history, he has only been outside the top ten in defense one before last year. To think his defense wont be good this year you would have to ignore his entire history and just base an opinion on last year which is absurd. And Rex Ryan ruined Mark Sanchez? I don't think Sanchez had any value other than a body to hand the ball off to people. I dont think many people would argue that sanchez failed because of rex, and same with Geno. The Penalties are probably the biggest issue from last year that may carry over into this season. That is one thing they didn't really have an answer for and I don't like the chances of them fixing that issue. Condemning a coach after 1 season is ridiculous and an over reaction.
-
Maybe a better choice of words would be condemning Rex Ryan a failure. It is obvious Rex Ryan didn't meet expectations regarding the win/loss record and restarted a defense that made it regress. But saying he is a failure after one season is way premature. There are plenty of bad things to say about Rex's work in buffalo. But what about the good? When Rex was hired, the joke was Rex is a great defensive coach, but he can't get a good offense going and can't develop a QB worth anything. So he comes to buffalo, and he probably ends up getting one of the best offenses he has had as a HC, and arguably a good QB with a good OC. Rex over came his biggest weakness that everyone said he couldn't do regarding the offense. No one questioned his defensive mind before the season started. Yeah, this was a season worth forgeting as far as defense goes. But looking at his history, it would be very unusual for his defense to be outside the top ten in consecutive years. Im thinking we see a much better defense next year. Anyone that doesn't think the defense will be great next year is solely basing their opinion off of last season alone and not Ryan's whole body of work. Ryan wasn't a top choice for me for HC. But people saying that it is a done deal that he has failed and should be ousted are being ridiculous and over reacting
