  1. All I believe is the idea in your original post is a stereotype and not the reason for the disparity in quarterbacks. If you were throwing that suggestion in to spur debate, but don't personally believe it, then I apologize. But again, your thread is titled "is it racist to say..." and I still believe the implications behind the suggestion are. Just my opinion. I am not the only one to think so. As far as the bolded above, now you are calling me paternalistic, which is a bit insulting. I don't feel the need to come to anyone's rescue. You invited opinions, and received them. I hope they help with your study.
  2. What if you are? What if I am? Doesn't matter. "[W]hite athletes gravitate towards the QB position based on they might enjoy the studying part of the position more than the black athlete" is still a stereotype and the wrong reason. Your thread asks if it racist to say that. I and others think it is. Did you start this thread expecting everyone to agree with you and support that statement? And again, you have absolutely no evidence to support it. Oh, and threatening me in a PM and then calling me a coward? That's funny.
  3. It depends on what you mean by "Buffalo fans" akm. That's a blanket term isn't it? Would some people have a problem with it? Sure, there's racists everywhere. But I think they are relatively few in number. I suppose we're just arguing over percentages. There are many more fans that would hate the Newton pick for entirely legitimate reasons, and some would compare him to Russell as another recent colossal bust. Not all the Newton=Russell comparisons would have a racial component.
  4. Neither I nor anyone else has shut down the conversation on your topic. If you want to know the real reasons for the dearth of black QBs in the league, read through this thread - other posters have laid out various reasons why. All of those reasons have more merit than your suggestion that blacks don't like to watch film, a statement to which you offer absolutely no evidence in support. It's just a classic stereotype. That's why I called you a bigot, deservedly so. Maybe you believe you're not, just like you believe there's 16,000 players in the NFL. In both cases, your beliefs are wrong, and calling me a "coward" for whatever reason doesn't change those facts.
  5. This thread does nothing to prove your stereotyping of Buffalo. One bigot on a message board suggesting that there aren't more black quarterbacks because black players "don't like the film room" means less than nothing.
  6. The ability to launch the ball a mile in the wind and snow does not a quarterback make.
  7. No point in getting sore over others pointing out your hilarious mistake. Just own it. You'll feel better.
  8. It would work if the media networks placed coordinated pressure on the league and players as you say. But broadcasters don't act as one - they compete for our eyeballs with each other. You could never get the current contracting networks - CBS, NBC, and Fox to agree to collectively freeze out the NFL. Even if they did, they would certainly alienate more than a few of their customers, and that ain't good for business.
  9. Coming from you Bangarang should take that as a compliment. "singin' rap"? Seriously? Try again dork.
  10. Oh yeah I forgot about the weekday overnight trips to vegas almost every week. That probably has something to do with it too.
  11. Simple - he blew all his dough on cheeseburgers and cough syrup.
  12. Because, clearly, you know Eminem, 50 and Newton personally. That's why you know none of them could play nice with the neighbors in WNY?
  13. Wow. Thanks for confirming exactly what I suspected.
  14. The rookie wage scale also lessens the financial risk for teams at the very top of the draft, making them less likely to want to trade down. It works both ways. Again, the Miami scenario is far fetched in the real world and based on assumption after assumption. It may sound nice in your head, though.
  15. That would be great if it played out like that. But i give no credence to anything posted on bleacher report.
  16. Again, i can't believe some of you believe these scenarios you propose. So the Bills will find a team "certain" to be horrible next year to trade with. (not sure how the FO is supposed to figure that out, as teams routinely swing their records around in one season nowadays). Then trade away our #3 pick this year to this hypothetical certain-to-be horrible team, swapping it for their 2012 first round pick and lower round picks in 2011. How often does this happen? I'd really like to know; i can't recall deals like this going down, unless one of the teams invloved doesn't have a same-year 1st round pick to swap for whatever reason. These pipe dreams make no sense to me, just my opinion. And suggesting Cam Newton wouldn't fit in with the Orchard Park "demographic"? Come on man.
  17. Ok then understood. And i completely agree with you about Maybin - he'll get one more training camp and then he will be cut. As far as Gabbert and the other incoming QBs though, you're right, they all have question marks associated with them. Luck was the only one that didn't. But at some point the bills need an upgrade at QB too, along with many other positions.
  18. That is, well, i don't even know how to categorize that line of thinking. Why take Marcell Dareus when Dwan Edwards gets us decent production? Let's just forgo the draft this year. That way, the Bills can't screw it up and no one can complain.
  19. This board makes me chuckle sometimes. For years the bills were thoroughly mediocre, going 7-9 over and over again. People then complained that it hurt our draft prospects because we picked just a bit too late to get truly elite talent. Now the Bills finally bottom out and have the 3rd pick, where they will be able to nab almost any elite player they want, and people still complain like the OP is here. Posters left and right clamoring for them to trade down. It's almost as if people are fans of complaining more than they are fans of the team.
  20. Surprising the Redskins made a semi-sensible move.
  21. OP forgot about another team in the top 10 that needs a QB-buffalo.
  22. For someone rolling around 265lbs yeah that sounds about right. He's a linebacker not a WR.
  23. Thanks for telling us "the deal" OP. Your statements about Ralph Wilson directly contradict what Wilson himself has said over the past year-that the Bills need a QB. Good effort.
  24. I voted for Quinn before, and my vote hasn't changed. I don't think you need a hybrid olb to run a 4.37 40 anyways. That's a bit unheard of.
