  1. There is no good reason for the team to announce their defensive strategy now.
  2. Pats haven't been able to draft defense for years.
  3. Erik has it - NE always trades back and gets future picks. Their recent draft history is so-so. Hits and misses every year it seems. Buffalo never trades down=fewer picks obviously.
  4. Last I checked, hitting someone hard is well within the rules of football. Dare I say, often encouraged. I'm beginning to think some of you didn't even bother to read Thomas' comments. If you did, you're reading way too much into them. The Giants weren't trying to injure Williams. There's no evidence they even attempted to do so. What they did do was try to hit him hard enough to put a little fear of god in him and maybe cause him to hesitate a bit. They succeeded. When some press followed up this story with Justin Tuck, he said: "Obviously we consider ourselves to be a physical group that wants to hit everyone. I don't think we've ever talked about knocking someone out, concussion-wise. We want to hit everybody hard, but we stay away from that."
  5. That's part of his deal - an equity share in the team. He's not paying anyone for it, they're giving it to him.
  6. Good luck in family court T.O. trying to reduce those support awards - it ain't an easy thing to do. Just with the oldest kid he's got 6 more years of payments to make. Hope than minor league deal pays handsomely.
  7. Absolutely. Of course that is on him though, not on any of his opponents.
  8. Sure, if the Giants really wanted to headhunt this guy, one of them could have lined up and crowned Williams in the facemask. That certainly would've rattled him. But they would also have eaten a big penalty and may have lost the defender for the Super Bowl. That would've been wrong. But they didn't do that and I don't think the postgame comments implied that was their aim. To me, the comments just suggested they wanted to hit KW early and often so Williams might begin to worry about his past head injuries (or injuries in general) and lose focus - which he did, at least on the first flubbed punt. Mission accomplished. Nothing wrong with that strategy. Should teams now brief their defenses before every game about the players on the opposing team with concussion history and tell them to be extra careful when hitting them? Of course not. If a guy has multiple concussion syndrome he shouldn't be in the game in the first place. EDIT: Devin Thomas only said, "We wanted to put a big hit on the guy..." What has everyone in a huff is Thomas preceded that comment with, "He has a history of concussions." Big deal. No where in Thomas' quoted comments did he suggest they were told headhunt or hit KW in the head. And there's no evidence any Giant attempted to do so during the game. Aiello reviewed the game and said as much.
  9. It's not bush. It is the type of gamesmanship that goes on in every single game played in every NFL season. It's part of football because it works, case in point. If you're disgusted by it that much (three thumbsdown!) may I suggest the ballet?
  10. Sorry to say but No.
  11. The clauses you cite seem pretty straightforward and I think you've interpreted them correctly. The question that remains is how much room as defined by the CBA the Bills actually have. If it's significant, of course a team committed to winning would surely send notice to the league to carry it over and potentially spend more the next year. I'm not sure the Bills fall into that category of team, however. Good digging BTW.
  12. Why stop at taking the guy's money? Why not a swift kick down the hospital steps after his doctor's appointment for ruining our team's chances this year? Seriously, unless you are Ralph Wilson, why would you be clamouring to prorate a ROOKIE 4th round contract because, oops, the kid has a potentially serious heart condition? Is it your money? We are scraping the barrell for topics already i see.
  13. So, for those 48% who thought that divine will was involved in the Broncos run, I wonder what they think now. Did god take a weekend off? Perhaps god found some fault with tebow and the broncos and decided they weren't worthy of winning? This is the kind of complete irrationality that turns some people away from tebow. Who is, after all, just another struggling young nfl QB trying to improve his lot. No different that Gabbert, matt moore, ponder. Etc....
  14. Blackmon would be great, but I think he'll go top 5. That could change, of course, if he does poorly at the combine or in individual interviews. V Jack seems like a bit of a headache (much like Stevie is at times), and Garcon will probably be resigned. Bowe seems a likely option, even though his hands are a bit questionable as well. But, from what I've watched of KC recently (which isn't much), he has seemed to put a lot of his dropping issues behind him.
  15. DT is huge. No one in Denver is missing Lloyd. Drafted, along with TT, by Mcdaniels.
  16. He tweeted the same point yesterday during the Giants game. He does it to get a reaction, i think we should all know this by now. Again, if he infuriates you that much, don't follow, don't read.
  17. For 3 staight weeks this thread wasn't updated. But today after the Pitt game it's at the top of page 1. I think that says all that needs to be said about Tebow supporters. But in saying that, I also have to give credit to the man himself. He made enough throws today to win the game, period. It's not tim's fault his fans complete obnoxiousness (including the idiots in this thread) have turned so many against him.
  18. Well no, it's not THAT hard in today's league. Plently of guys are doing it today when there were only a handful 12-15 years ago. But, that doesn't mean you dismiss the achievement outright. I know it's only 2 years, but it does show a level of consistency, health, and chemistry with your quarterback. Those are things you shouldn't let just walk out the door. Especially when, as I've said before, Stevie is limited, not aided, by his natural talent. He's average height for a WR, but not particularly big and strong. He has average speed at best. He's not going to jump over anyone for the ball. His hands are maybe above average at best. And yet, since a full time starter, he's put up very respectable numbers. Why? Because he's probably one of the top 5 route runners in the league. You can spring from the womb destined to be big, fast, strong, etc... You're not born with innate ability to run WR patterns. Stevie worked at it. And he succeeds at it. Watching some of the away games this year, I was surprised to see how many times the color guy pointed out SJ's routes on plays. They loved it. SJ just knows how to play his position, his production confirms it.
  19. contributing towards the over.
  20. 1. It's good Jones is going back to school. Never can fault a kid for going back to get his education. Doesn't hurt to go back either since he struggled mightily down the stretch against good opponents. 2. This Luck conjecture is crazy, but I will admit there might be an outside chance for some team to move into that spot since the Polian firings. It ain't gonna be the Bills making the deal, though.
  21. Thanks Jerry. I believe you, I was just wondering why it wasn't picked up earlier. The reports that stated SJ wanted around $7.5 million were repeated by several different outlets. I don't put much stock into what Chris Brown says anyways, he's more of a mouthpiece for the team than anything else.
  22. Seconded. Did anyone else hear this or see it reported anywhere else? Seems odd this news would be posted 3-4 days later.
  23. Great stuff. But you won't convince many. I was shouted down pre-draft last year by many who think the draft value chart is just some media conspiracy, or only 2 teams out of 32 use it, or nfl teams don't use math, etc... Also thanks for the link as well.
  24. Swapping 1sts and giving away a 2nd and SJ would probably be the the very minimum of what it would take to get up to #2 overall. I'm not even going to get into the draft value chart since so many of you think it's bunk. That said, i really don't think StL would be very interested in getting out of that spot. At #2 they'll be assured of drafting Blackmon to pair with Lloyd (if he stays). The Rams have had so much trouble finding WR weapons in recent years that Blackmon would be extremely hard for them to pass up. If they go down to #10, they miss Blackmon, and Alshon and the ND guy may be gone as well. They'd also be able to take the best defensive player in the draft at #2 as well. Their D could certainly use whoever that ends up being.
