Burress, Boldin, Johnson being shopped
CFLstyle replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills will not look at either of these guys, as nice as it would be. -
WELL, given Flutie's size disadvantage, he did alright. Flutie also seemed to have a knack for winning, Garcia hasn't shown this as much. The Bills offense was certainly more fluent when Flutie was in the game. And you say it doesn't matter, but duing their times in the CFL Flutie was much better, he was the best quarterback who ever played in the CFL, period. He never really got his shot in the NFL because he wasn't the prototypical quarterback that teams look for.

Lets see how many of you can guess our new #2 QB
CFLstyle replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Joey Harrington -
Finally, someone who gets it. If we trade Peters, you can kiss the playoffs goodbye for the next few years at the least.
-
oh yeah, and Jonathan Stewart will be in the top 5 before you know it.
-
This is how I would put it: 1. Peterson 2. Tomlinson 3. Turner 4. Barber 5. Jackson 6. Chris Johnson 7. Lynch I'm calling it an off year for Tomlinson, whether he bounces back is another question. As for Lynch, I would say he's somewhere around 7th, so far, but he will get higher on that list.

Which 7-9 season was Jauron's best?
CFLstyle replied to keepthefaith's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
WELL, 2006 was the most fun. JP looked like he was turning the corner, and the Bills looked like a team on the rise. Then it all crashed down. -
I don't think so. Who's our biggest FA? Crowell?
-
I stopped reading after the first line...what's the use.
-
Now it looks like you're just bashing Jauron for the sake of bashing Jauron. He did the right thing, and he's right to give any coach an opportunity to advance his career. It is kind of a promotion for Koller, seeing as he'll be an assistant as well, and quite honestly, I don't care how good he is, if a coach doesn't want to be here, he shouldn't be here.

It's far more complicated than you make it out to be. It's not like Madden.

Kawika Mitchell - Good FA pick up or not?
CFLstyle replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, outstanding pickup. He brings heart, leadership, playmaking ability, and most importantly, experience to the team. I don't think we have another starter on this team who's even been close to the superbowl. -
We have one, his name is Josh Reed. We need another vertical threat, that's Marvin Harrison. Harrison and Evans, with Reed and Parrish in the slot would give us a pretty scary group of receivers.

I am having problems getting motivated this off season
CFLstyle replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would generally tend to disagree with you about our depth. I'd say it's pretty good. Injuries haven't been a reason for the team's failure. They could have been a reason to tank, but when we had numerous injuries 2 seasons ago the backups stepped in and performed quite well. The same happened this year. I wouldn't say this as a knock on our starters, but I feel pretty comfortable that if almost any starter on the team goes down, we have a backup who can fill in and the team won't be missing too much. This, of course, with the exception of the quarterback position, which I didn't think would be a concern heading into the season with Losman there, but I was wrong. -
Exactly. Polian's no idiot. No team is going anywhere with Kirk Chambers starting. Also, isn't Greer a free agent? How do you suppose we trade him?
-
I agree with the poster. People on this forum don't know what they want. Peters deserves the money, period. He is one of the best left tackles in the league, and he'd be the starting left tackle on just about any team in the NFL. Not to mention the position he's playing is the most valuable to an offensive line. We finally get a top notch offensive lineman, something we've been after for the longest time, and now people think he should be traded? And wait, it gets better...to be replaced by: Kirk Chambers?? I've said it before, and I've said it again: Jason Peters is not going anywhere, letting him go would be one of the biggest mistakes this team has ever made.

I voted for Flutie. Bledsoe was indeed good for us though.

Stats that tell the story....
CFLstyle replied to Steve In Atlanta 2008's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Then I would say turnovers lost us 3 games directly, both Jets games and the Browns game. -
We're taking the best player available, I don't care if it's a defensive back.
-
I would love David Carr or Joey Harrington. Yes, I said it. These guys were big time prospects with tons of talent, but had their careers ruined by teams even worse than the Bills. I'd like to see them on a better team. As a backup, I believe either of these guys could be servicable.

Bills lack of penalties is a problem not a positive
CFLstyle replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Usually aggressive penalties hurt a team a lot more than they help. They kill drives, on offense or defense. The only time I remember one helping was when Whitner took out Higgins in the endzone, but the difference is the 15 yards was only applied on the kickoff, so it's not as bad. -
The draft is a science. It's not as easy as you make it out to be. Who knows, in 3 years Hardy could just be turning into that dominant physical receiver the Bills need. It's not the same as Madden. Every team in the league has their hits and misses, with a few extremely rare exceptions.

Personnel problems are not Jauron's fault
CFLstyle replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't understand the bashing of Dockery. He's been pretty solid. I think the offensive line is a centre away. Walker, Butler, Dockery, and Peters give us a very good foundation. -
Coaching choices for the Bills
CFLstyle replied to EasternOHBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's already great, but he could become legendary. It's like in the NHL, with Brian Burke coming to Toronto, except not quite to the same extent with the difference in markets. Why would Burke go to Toronto? Not money. For a challenge. He knows that if he can build a cup winner in the Leafs, he'll become legendary; the greatest ever. Period. Cowher's great, everyone knows it. But he could become legendary, he could put himself above all the rest. Going to Buffalo and winning the Superbowl would top anything anyone else could have done.
