  1. Usually I disagree with Bill about Gilmore. Sunday he had a very rough day. Dwayne Bowe is a pretty big guy. I'm not sure he has a reputation for being overly physical. But to me it seems the Chiefs saw on film that Gilmore wasn't quite himself yet and coached Bowe to go right AT Gilmore. Battle with him. Make him test that arm and wrist. Bowe won. Gilmore didn't have use of that hand or arm for almost 8 weeks. That's a whole lot of lost strength. It should improve week to week but it was obvious he's not 100% in that department
  2. This guy is ready to be an NFL coach with his in-depth analysis of the game. You must have a wealth of experience. Seriously though I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone who KNOWS football and is over the age of like, 9, say "he hiked the ball" especially in reference to the QB. It's called a snap, man. A snap.
  3. Have we already forgotten what happened to Robert Griffin III in the wild card game? On a crappy grass field? Which was a non-contact injury? On a field surface almost as notoriously bad as Heinz Field? Add in the ND/Pitt game Saturday night with an 8:00 PM kickoff and you've got probably just about 12 hours between the likely end of the game (11 to 11:30 PM) and warmups. That's a recipe for disaster.
  4. I did read it. He said there were reports. Quoted LaCanfora and said we won't know until 11:30 when there is an announcement of the inactive list. Basically nothing we couldn't figure out ourselves.
  5. I wouldn't say Brown "confirmed" the info. He merely reposted it, just like any of us here do.
  6. If you want EJ Manuel to have a 10 year career the last place you want him to return from a knee injury is Heinz Field. Heinz Field has been consistently rated by players as one of the worst grass surfaces in the league, along with the Oakland Coliseum (likely due to the baseball diamond; it is the only one left)
  7. Maybe the short week scenario with Cleveland really WAS the absolute worst case. You know he didn't take a single rep with the 1s that week with such limited practice time between games. Doesn't matter if its Thad or Tuel or Flynn; the story to beat the Chiefs is the same. Run, stop the run, take care of the football. Houston gave them a game doing two of those things. Keenum's turnovers hurt them
  8. 12 PPG is impressive, even if half their schedule has been cupcakes by NFL standards. Their offense is statistically very similar to the Bills' up to this point. Their defense just didn't suffer through a rash of injuries.
  9. I'm sure its not faked. He took a couple of vicious hits right to the ribs last week. They're definitely bruised. He's lucky they aren't broken. There's nothing fake about listing him as Doubtful/25% chance to play on Friday and then "working him out" Saturday and Sunday morning and saying "he's good to go"
  10. You also probably had a better upbringing than 85% of professional athletes.
  11. Take it with a grain of salt. LaCanfora is the worst of all the insiders, for one. Secondly this is nothing more than logic. You mean Tuel and Flynn will be the active QBs if Lewis doesn't start?!?! No way! Tell me more Mr. LaCanfora
  12. Because marijuana is a substance you can abuse just like any other drug including alcohol?
  13. Realistic? Probably a Gabbert-like performance at best.
  14. Sure. Why not. Was it in his best interest to not take advantage of the resources provided to him by the Jaguars after his last mishap? Not at all. Dumb mistake? I will say that. Not to mention he's only 23 years old. He may or may not be past that "I'm invincible" mentality. But some people just take more than one swing to get sober/clean for whatever reason. Just because they helped him with rehab or AA doesn't mean he had the support system when he was away from the team facilities that he needed. Hopefully this is his wakeup call for that and he can do what he needs to do to continue his career and beat whatever his demons are.
  15. You.also have to look at the other games on tap. Depending on how the first game goes the rematch of DEN/KC in week 13 could be more appealing. Week 14 you have IND/CIN and SEA/SF. Weeks 15 and 16 don't offer much outside of what's already there
  16. I don't want EJ returning on that joke of a field Heinz usually is at this time of the year after the Steelers, Pitt and the HS championship games have shredded it all up. Sign me up for the Jets game
  17. Now being reported he has had a breakdown and is spending some time with family and seeking treatment away from the team
  18. LG, RT (Pears is 32), OLB, athletic TE, S
  19. I like ASJ but if they're going the route of trying to get a Hernandez/ Graham/ freaky athlete type of TE....I think I want Mike Evans from A&M. He's a WR at TAMU but with low 4.5/high 4.6 speed he might be a better fit as a "tight end" in the NFL
  20. They've been on the Crime Warner Sports channel for most of their games so far. Channel 52 for me. They're also going to be on ESPN2 for 2 of their next 3 games. The third is on ESPNU. All 3 are Tuesday night games. I get ESPNU and only have a basic digital cable package
  21. I don't know if its been said in this thread but the formula to beat the Chiefs is simple. Not as easy to execute, but simple. Run and stop the run. That's all it takes. Its why Houston proved to be difficult for them even with Case Keenum making his first NFL start. Alex Smith isn't going to make many mistakes and takes what you give him, but isn't the "put the game on my back" 300 yard 3 TD brand of QB. If a team holds the ball for 35-40 minutes and jumps ahead early, while containing Charles, that forces Smith to win the game. Good luck with that.
  22. He's still on the team. He's just inactive.
  23. Pittsburgh, Arizona and St. Louis beg to differ. Miami has a good weapon in Miller. They just choose NOT to run enough and/or use Thomas who is a plodding back instead
  24. No it was the result of Chandler's legs getting tripped up by #30 that rolled up FJ
