  1. Just messin'. Hopefully, you don't send a leprechaun after me. Those guys are scary.
  2. Why stop there. Garret comes up with a bone crushing sack of L. Jackson in the 1st qtr. He's knocked out of the game and the Browns go on to shock the Ravens with an unlikely win.
  3. Anyone with a name that sounds like the last syllable of Dolphin can be irritating...
  4. Agree. Davis is a north south runner that does his best work when hitting the whole without hesitation. He's also bigger and stronger than Cook....maybe faster too. Cook is very good at using his blockers and then making defenders miss but he's had a lot of success up the middle too. I think at this stage Cook is a more complete back. I think Davis can become a really good back. He doesn't seem to get many opportunities though. Hard to do when Cook has become the hot hand, and the coaches love going with who's hot.
  5. You know who had a big game vs the Jets last year? Ray Davis. RBs might be a big factor. Davis ran right at an over aggressive Dline. They were bringing heat to stop Allen but Davis was hitting holes fast and making them pay. I don't think this game plays out the same way, but the Jets defense does have trouble with gap integrity when they don't know what's coming next. I expect Allen to spread the ball around and to change the call at the line often. The Jets have a good defense, but they do get caught when they try to play aggressive. It's a cat and mouse game and Josh is learning that it's much more fun being the cat.
  6. The problem for the Jets is that Buffalo's offense is even better than last year. Buffalo now has two outside receivers with good hands. The run game is still very good and the TE room is arguably even better. Josh has weapons. Lots of them. The Jets defense is good and very instinctive. But the way the Bills spread the ball around it's going to give them problems. I think this is going to be a game where the Jets defense struggles to find answers. And if the Bills jump out to an early lead, I don't think a Justin Fields led offense is going to be able to keep up. The Jets really need to lean on their running game for Justin Fields to be effective as a passer. They can't do that if they are playing from behind.
  7. Listening to T. Johnson interview, it sounds like he'll be ready to go Sunday. Encouraging. Tre White is staying mum about starting in his interview. Have no Idea if he's playing. Excited to see how TJ Sanders looks filling in for Ed.
  8. I'd like to see the young new Dlinemen to show some promise. Good opportunity for them to step up with Oliver out. I would hope that all of the off season focus on upgrading the defense begins to payoff, especially the young additions.
  9. https://www.buffalorumblings.com/buffalo-bills-injuries/115714/buffalo-bills-list-5-players-with-week-2-injury-designations Pretty good summary on the injury front. If we can get a couple of these guys back, losing Ed won't be so bad. The defense doesn't really need his game wrecker abilities. Just a better showing when it comes to gap integrity and stopping the run. The team practiced in pads on Wednesday to fix these issues and that's a team effort. The defense's issues against the Ravens had a lot to do with team concepts like maintaining gap integrity. Henry was only partly successful because of his ability. The other side of that coin was the poor job the Dline did at meeting him at the point of attack. He was running through huge holes all game long until the 4th qtr. Although losing Ed in this one hurts, it's not the end of the world. Every member of this defense shared in last weeks performance. Now they just have to put it together for the next game up. I believe we actually see an improved performance by the defense as a whole, even without Ed.
  10. Is he the only player that did anything? I know it seems that way but...
  11. Defense really needs to focus on gap integrity to slow the run down. Also, Justin Fields is going to be rolling out of the pocket a lot. Need a defender to be in his face when he does this. The Jets offense did a good job last week, but comparing them to the Ravens is way off the mark. Hopefully the defense has identified some of these tendencies and is well prepared. They should be able to force a few more stops than they did against the Ravens. I think the Bills take care of business.
  12. He still doesn't get it.
  13. That's an improvement! Big Ed, though, hopefully nothing serious.
  14. Very concerning. Our secondary can't catch a break. Now some new injuries to key players like Cook and Rousseau as well. This Jets game is looking like tough sledding. More so than I would have thought. It's still only Wednesday. Perhaps it gets better in a couple of days.
  15. Josh has been in the league for a while now. I'm not at all surprised he's making these reads. The Bills were using presnap motion to get clues from the defense last year too.
  16. Not if Josh puts his cape on...lol.
  17. I would like to see the percentage of passing plays in the 1st half increase a bit. Not entirely, but enough to get all of our pass catchers rolling early. Winning like we did against the Ravens definitely isn't sustainable. On defense, I would hope, to see more 3rd down stops happen. It was a problem last year and still is. A few things need to happen to right the ship.
  18. A lot of teams have a big game and then a let down immediately after. Truth is, the Ravens were whooping the Bill's for 3qtrs, though. Coaches and players are in the lab cooking up ways to fix what they know are problems. I think the Bills win big for a change. The Jets may have a competent new coach, but he's still new and they are going to have some growing pains.
  19. The reason Hyde and Poyer were so good, is they knew what each other were doing. They came in together and went to work together. They studied together and and had a blueprint for every game. Neither had the greatest physical gifts. They just worked harder and communicated better. The closest safety to having that kind of knowledge isn't even Hamlin and he's not a starter. There's Rapp, who has experience but in another system and is getting his feet wet in this one. Then there's a young stud but he's still green. These guys do need time because it's a damn difficult position to learn. The DBs have to get a feel for what the other DBs are doing and also know their own role in the scheme. They have communicate with other early and often or things can get ugly real fast. Like I said before, they now have some tape. Not just of themselves, but of the other DBs they are playing with. They'll figure it out. It's all about communicating. On and off the field.
  20. The safeties need to communicate a lot on the field to make sure everyone knows where to be. What their assignment is and that of the other DBs. I think the dual threat QB and Henry was giving them fits. Then just when you think you have to crash down to stop the run, Lamar would pass. Tough assignment for them. They have a lot of tape to watch. I'm sure they are all ready thinking of ways to improve. I think a little time to work things out is warranted...
  21. It's not dead. There are just some defenses that are too stout to try it on. Not everyone has a defense like the Chiefs/Ravens. Some teams you can tell them your doing it and they still can't stop it.
  22. Gotta start playin hurry up. Ugh.
  23. Keep pushing. Make them earn it. Sooner or later going they'll make a mistake.
