1. The game is meaningless just as the game today was for New Orleans and they pulled their starters as well. I'd rather be an idiot with the 11th pick than a true fan like you with the 23rd but that's just me.

There are no such things symbolic wins when you in the need of talent. I could understand if we were a lock to make the playoffs at the beginning of the year and we persevered through a lot of key injuries but we are 4 to 5 players away from being playoff team, perhaps more if we lose Clements, Fletcher, Kelsay.

I never want to play to get a higher draft pick, thats just stupid. if we won today we would pick say 15th instead of 13th... we wont get the guy we want, and marv will draft another good player instead or if we really want him we trade up. two picks is not gonna make a big enough difference next season but to end on a winning note just might. insead of "we suck" we get :we almost had the playoffs lets work really hard this offseason to try and improve as a team" id rather have the latter than a POTENTIAL great player.

Lots of early first rounders bust *COUGH* Mike Williams* COUGH* too remember?

  2. I disagree in the titans game he had us in position to win and kept us in the game dispite the DEFENSE's inabilty to stop the run against the titans and the pass against the ravens. He was asked to carry the team today when willis couldnt run for sh-- and i thought he did a decent job, the ravens are VERY GOOD, buffalo was overmatched plain and simple, i thought even if we did beat tennesse and controlled our own destiny wed be in trouble this game. But it's not all on losman, no way this kid is gonna be here for a while

    Go JP and Go Bills

  3. I bet if clements agreed to it we could franchise him and trade him. but he would have to agree to go to Washington first. Might happen but i doubt it.

I wouldnt cut spikes. no way hes looking btter each week, plus id hate to see him have success on another team which i think he would.

it would be nice to get all those free agents but dont count on it. if we get ian scott i will be thrilled.

draft a decent lb in the second third and groom him or beef up ellison and wire but hargrove has the potential to be a great pass rusher inside or outside. keep him on the DL

  4. I knew jp(if given the chance) would be good. All i ever heard about was his work ethic and willingness to get better, after meathead messed him up in the first half of the year he came back and took the most of his opprutunity. he performed alot better. during the offseason he made it known he wanted to be here and do well when he bought a house in downtown buffalo. We found our QB and hes better than manning roethlisberger and vick and pennington and anything miami can muster. GO JP and GO BUFFALO

  5. That was a stupid way to title this, but please spare me the "yes it does"

Assuming we can't re-sign Nate Clements, what about the option of moving Donte Whitner to CB, he as the speed, and is good in coverage, and if I recall during the draft there was even call about it. The two top CB will command major coins, however Safeties make less, Ken Hamlin who came back from injury and Michael Lewis who I believe has been to the pro bowl are both free agents and would be much cheaper than Clements. Just a thought.

Hmm interesting idea i remember them saying when we drafted him he could play both, but then that also leaves a big hole at SS. I feel like thomas and youboty and mcgee between the 3 of them can make two sloid starters but i wouldnt be surprised if the coaching staff tries it :P

  6. TD's problem was that he was the president and GM so he had to make a good team and sell tickets. The best way to do that is hire up and coming cordinators and draft day splash deals like bledsoe mcgahee and losman. the problem was he forgot about making the o line and defense in general better. so ya he brouight in good players but also a lot of luxeries we really didnt need parrish everret and BAD coaches. Which is why hes looking for work and marv is out of retirement

  7. FS-Simpson gets a C+ I thought he was slow to the ball sometimes and isn't a good tackler, he will forever be shown in that LT run.

I agree with most of your post but simpson is a very good FS and he got outrun by the best rb in the league as did the most of the rest fo the league, other than that i saw him in on just about every tackle and he saved a good number of touchdowns this year

  8. on Sunday.

I hope to see a lot of Merz and Butler on the OL. Peters needs to sit. Evans could use a rest at WR. Go ahead, put in Davis, or even Aiken! Hargrove needs to see more time as well. We already know that AS can play. And how about Spikes sits this one out? He has worked hard to come back and more rest is clearly needed.

Most of all, I want to watch Nall at qb. He needs some snaps just in case.

This game vs. the Ravens means nothing. There is simply NO reason to risk injuries to our best players. Additionally, why NOT give a kid like Merz a chance to shine, or not play so well?

Imo the only thing we have to lose is our foundation due to needless risk.

Coach Jauron, put the kids and second stringers in the game!

    878289

Id be ok having him see how our depth is at reciever or linback or o line even but i would be absolutly shocked if DJ put in Nall or Holcomb, bc i think he knows that would statrt up a whole off season of questions, not worth to see what nall can do its called practice and preseason

  9. Almost twenty-four hours removed from the sting of the collapse against the Titans, I have had some time to reflect on the upcoming New Year's Eve game. In the car on the way home from the game I was bummed because, as the talking heads on the radio were saying, "the Baltimore game now doesn't mean much."

After consideration, I say, "bull !" This game means a ton for this young Bills squad. Here is a list of reasons why:

    1. Learning from a loss: Wisdom says you can learn a lot from a loss -- usually I don't subscribe to that theory. But in this case, I think it's worth noting. This young team just got kicked in the teeth at home by another young and very hot NFL team. With nothing on the line in the grand scheme of things, they now have to go in and play an excellent Baltimore team who most likely will be resting it's key players due to locking up a first round bye. It would be easy for the Bills to walk in expecting Baltimore to roll over, or worse, for the Bills to walk in not caring. We have heard Marv and Dick talk all year about the "Character" of this team. We witnessed that character when they battled back from a 2-5 start. But this game will be more illuminating. With nothing to play for, a bad taste in their mouths, playing an excellent team on the road, this is an opportunity for the Bills to make a statement about their "Character" and the direction of this franchise.

    2. Momentum: While I am a firm believer in the power of momentum, I have often wondered how much, if any at all, momentum can be carried from one season into the next. With so much roster turnover, it's hard to argue that much does. And recent Bills' history suggests that none does (9-7 to 5-11 ring a bell?). Still, this team is different. With one of the youngest rosters in the league, the core of this team is young, and more importantly, going to be back in 2007. Heading into the off-season with a two game losing streak would do much to damage their young confidence. However, a win on the road against a playoff bound Raven team could be just the spark. It would leave the sense of "unfinished business" in the minds of these players -- only in a positive light. Losing close games to Indy, New England and (the future Super Bowl Champion) Chargers, then beating the Ravens would prove to themselves that this young Bills team can hang with anyone. And more importantly can BEAT anyone.

    3. Nate Clements: Conventional wisdom states that Clements is already picking out apartments on the Upper West Side or out in Chevy Chase. Still, I think the Bills are still very much alive in the "Nate Clements' Sweepstakes". A loss against Baltimore would seriously jeopardize this. Who could blame Nate for thinking, "I've seen this before -- one step forward, two steps back" and moving onto a "playoff team". However, a win against a good team and an 8-8 record might force him to pause. He might then be forced to really look at the situation in Buffalo: A Cover 2 Defense that caters to his skills (read: better opportunity for stats), a young team with not just playoff "potential", but a legit shot to be contenders in the very near future. This last one is most important -- Nate is one of the architects of this young team. He has been here through the bad times and hasn't seen much good. All NFL players are, at their core, competitors. I would have to think that the thought of leaving a team he helped build just when they are beginning to peak, would be tough to do. TKO did it in Cincy, and I would think he would have words for Nate. Despite what TKO says publicly, we all know he has to have some regrets. So a win could give Nate pause and consider more than just the dollars. A loss, to me, would be the final nail in Bills' coffin regarding Nate.

    4. Free Agents: A lot has been discussed in previous threads about how Marv and Dick have won a lot of credibility with Free Agents due to their "straight shooting and fair dealings". This is true. With 30 million plus in cap space, the Bills will have the opportunity to woo some names. Almost as valuable (key word: almost) in these upcoming negotiations will be the "direction" the team is heading. A win puts the team at 8-8 and on the rise. A loss, they are sitting at 7-9 and could be written off as being "lucky" perhaps. I'd rather erase any doubts.

Of course there are some who argue that losing to Baltimore would help more than it would hurt because it would (say it with me), "improve their draft position". While this might be true, I think an improved draft slot is less valuable than these other four issues at stake in this game.

So yes, in the context of the 2006 season, this game versus Baltimore is meaningless. No playoff implications for either team are on the line. Yet, in context of the 2007 season and beyond, this upcoming game is paramount.

    Just my two cents.

    877885

you are totally correct here, the bills should play to win a nd make a statement to the rest of the league, watch out bc next year were gonna be one year smarter and one year better. Beating a playoff team on the road hen you have nothing to play for will show alot of character, and from watching this team these past few months that is the one thing this team has had all along

    Bills 17 Baltimore 14

    Juaron lets Lindell win it

  10. I see you take the long view...

    877740

ok good point but what im trying to say is that stopping the run has been a problem all year and it was even more evident yeasterday why. we beat the texans and jacksonville but we gave up a ton of yrds on the ground. yes overall i was impressed with the coachong this year but no way on run stuffing

    sorry to vent everyone

    Merry christmas :D

  11. The Bills were outcoached and their QB was outplayed by a rookie QB.

Vince Young appears to be the real deal. Unlike Loseman the kid is a winner. To come to Buffalo on the road, even though it was in front of 40,000, a windy day and not only make plays to help his team win he also took care of the football. Young played a smart football game and looked like the veteran while Loseman looked like a lost rookie again.  :D

    877718

welcome back deluca did you see the game o did you listen to the "experts" young is great talent but he did not out play losman, not by a long shot. Vince young looked great running the ball but he is not a good passer he rolled out and rolled out until someone finally broke free of coverage thats not a good qb, and every time a critical passing situation would come that "qb" would tuck it and run, play qb not rb and then beat us with your arm then you can be called a good qb

    o and marry christmas

  12. ya they did a great job stopping Vince young and travis henry yesterday, the defense lost the game, yes we shoulda kicked the field goal but if the defense could have made a few more stops on the last drive were still talking playoffs instead of shoulda coulda and maybe next year

    Merry christmas everyone

  13. If lindell said he cant make it then im ok with Juarons decision to go for it.

What im not ok with is that juaron asked the question at all, we have quite possibly the biggest kicker in the league, Kick the damn football if you miss blame the wind and eat your words insead of this well it was 3 yrds outta his range, bull sh-- kick the ball earn your paycheck no questions asked

  14. The bills have a great young group of talent, and even though we didnt make the playoffs :D this team has a lot to build on. Juaron is a smart man and so is levy, this offseason (after we beat balitimore 17 13) we gonna statr our draft and free agent prep, resign clements and fletcher and mcgahee, re do losman and evans deals and have another productive offseason. this team is 5 points away from going 8-0 after the bye week this year. next year that wont be the case. Go Bills

    In Marv We trust

  15.  The last time Bills/Titans played in a big game we had the music city miracle. The untold story of the music city miracle was how Wade Phillips, a great coach, totally mismanaged the clock. Wade was a great coach, but who week to week, just could not grasp the concept of game/clock management. In the music city miracle game. he kicked a field goal on second down, rather than use the extra plays to run the clock down to nothing. DJ is the exact same way; does not challenge close replay calls in the 1st half; and today totally mismanages the clock once again to give titans time to score a TD before half. Even decent clock managent at end of first half would have prevented Titans TD; in the biggest game of the year, a Bills head coach once again lets the team down. And you will never hear a trace of this from the dunces that constitute the Bills media.

But a city that is 18,000 short of a sell out in what was basically a playoff home game does not deserve a playoff team anyways, much less an NFL franchise. What a national disgrace from a city of losers. Even the 2-12 Raiders sold out their game.

    877241

It was christmas eve and i was at the game ok the people that did show up gave that a playoff atmosphere. dont knock the fans for staying home on christmas eve

  16. Get a load of this one...

    Downside to Athleticism

    just a tease:

"In particular, Gandy has a pretty interesting take on why black quarterbacks such as current teammate Michael Vick undergo so much public scrutiny. Gandy has watched teammates – Vick, Aaron Brooks in New Orleans, Kordell Stewart in Pittsburgh, Tony Banks in St. Louis and Dameyune Craig at Auburn – operate under a different set of standards"

    875378

lets also remember that vick has been in the league lopnger than manning. and therefore his clock is running out.... o and hes getting paid out the ass
