After what happened to the Hawks ( for those who checked out their boards....what ??)
I've think we , as Bills fans, should resist the temptation to trash other teams and their fans.
Unlike politicians we should stick to the facts . Even though I want to say Matt Cassle is a fairy wearing lipstick, I going to keep it to myself. Even though it could be said Brett Farve is a homophobic flip flopper, I'm going to bite my tongue.Ect.,ect.
So far (knocking on wood) things couldn't be going better for us, or worse for our opponents, lets not F it UP and pis off the football gods.
I agree man ive read some people arleady on this board talking in extreme arrogance and it kind of worries me. We beat the seahaks, yes they are a playoff team and they are hurting. i know we can beat jacksonvill who was a lso a playoff team but until we go out and prove it by beating Favre and the jets and Belicheat we are still the underdog and still havent won anything. Keep composure Bills fans, im as excited as every fan here about our chances but its week 2. last year cleveland looked this good and missed the playoffs

To me the funniest thing about the Pats/Jets match-up is that IMHO its a pretty sure thing that the winner of this game will be anointed by ESPN and the national media as THE story of 2008 and a virtual lock to be one of the great stories ever in the NFL.
If the Jets win the narrative will be about how Brett Favre (virtually alone) has turned a perennial sure loser into a definite winner and favorite to take the AFC East and perhaps the SB.
If the Pats win the narrative will be about the redemption of Bill Bellicheat and that it was not Brady, it was the system.
The narrative will likely be determined by the game outcome and the actual events regardless of whether NYJ's offense featured a couple of Favrian highlights but overall was ineffective looks the same as last week against the stumbling Fins. Likewise the narrative coughed up by a Pats victory would likely be about the football genius of Bellicheat which the Brady injury given a victory will easily provide an excuse if the Pats wheeze to victory as they did against a not very good KC team.
Even if the Bills roll over Jax, the best we will likely be in the media is being put forth as the next victim to show the dominance of Favre or Belicheat.
ESPN coverage seems merely to be an example of the ignoring of the Bills rolling over a recent consistent NFC winner and Woodson declaring Jax the team that must win this weekend but making no mention of its opponent when he staked out this storyline.
I hope they tie and we blow Jacksonville out of the water
Then What ESPN?

The JP/Smith connection is that TD traded the Bills first round pick in 2005 in order to take Losman in 2004 because he judged the Bills as having such a clear need for a QB of the future (even though TD made a huge error in extending Bledsoe's contract after a horrendous 2003 campaign he had to know DB would not last forever even if he foolishly believed DB would mount a comeback similar to the one which saw him reach the Pro Bowl after the 2002 season after he was gotten rid of by NE).
TD seemed to make the judgment that JP drafted in 04 with a year on the bench behind Bledsoe was a better option that likely the first QB taken in 05 (Smith).
Say what you want about JP but I think it is pretty clear that given the sad performance of Smith. the TD strategy was the correct one as far as the draft. I think the problem was that rapid promotion to starter status after TD realized the extension of Bledsoe was stupid was undeserved (even JP said this himself).
The poor player development approach taken by the Bills with JP which saw his first OC Clements get demoted midseason, his first HC MM get the kibosh, his third OC Fairchild fail to produce a consistent O as he tried to force JP who is a run for your life improvise QB into the NFL straitjacket was simply bad.
It certainly cam be argued that JP has inherent flaws which make him DDOOOMMEEDD to fail at QB, but any person who watches football and understands it also has to admit that the Smith failures make the JP draft strategy at least look like a better idea than depending on any consensus early 1st round QB pick at the time or depending on us finding some Tom Brady later in the draft.
Agree on counts. Like or Not trading up for JP was the best move we could have done. He was mishandled once he got year, another year of seasoning might have done him alot of good but trading up was the right move

I'm seeing a Bills team that is playing at a constant high level of intensity. I see good and aggressive playcalling. And most importantly I'm seeing good execution most of the time. We saw some of this even in pre-season but folks never want to get too excited over that. Can the Bills maintain this level all season? Will they start believing their own hype when the rest of the media wakes up? All I know is this is going to be a special year for the Bills.
PTR
Ill talk to you in week 6 about this. If we are 5 and 0 by then we can have this conversation but please can we not get ahead of ourselves. its a long season

From the guy that lives in Manchester, NH
Not cool man if your gonna come over into another board you have to be able to take a few shots.
As for the pats man i really am not happy about Brady. Its terrible when any player goes down especailly one as important as brady. I hope your season turns out ok and for all i know it could. You have a fairly easy schedule and as long as the D can keep it close and MC doesnt lose the game for you no reason to think you cant compete. But the fact the Chiefs were about a drop away from beating you is cause for concern. The Offense cant hide the weaknesses of your team unless cassel starts taking HGH (its a hell of a drug) and listening to the defenses plays before the snap. until i see otherwise The Bills and the Brets are the teams to beat in the AFCE
Call me a homer but Brady is that important to your team and his loss is a big as any.

I voted for the pats* Id much rather hear about the Brets losing to Matt Cassel than the jets are the new favorite because they beat the bradyless pats*

The horrible thing about "extremely depressed" is that it's really freakin' deadly. The great thing about it is that it's really freakin' treatable.
Regardless...I haven't heard any statements from Young's pshrink (any psychiatrist - I haven't even heard if Young's seeing one or not) so far. What's more, I would question the professionalism and competence of one that divulged such information.
Ever hear of patient confidentiality? remember the VT shootings? Nobody was aloowed to say he was a whackjob until it was to late. Ya its messed up but its the law

Q: Where does Brady's knee rank on your list of the most devastating Boston injuries? I mean, I thought this was gonna be the best year of Boston sports ever. Am I just spoiled? This feels worse than following a team like the Chiefs or Dolphins last year. I mean, you knew they were gonna lose each time they took the field. But this is as if Michael Phelps was giving the U.S. men's swimming team a motivational speech just before the final relay and a shark jumps out of the water and ate him (a la Samuel L. Jackson in "Deep Blue Sea").
-- Ethan B., Brookline, Mass.
SG: How soon everyone in Boston forgets -- there's no way this was more crushing or depressing than Bird missing the entire '88-89 season just a few months after the famous shootout with Dominique; John Havlicek separating his shoulder during the '73 Eastern Conference finals against the Knicks; Nomar (coming off a .372 season) hurting his wrist before the 2001 season started; or even Tony Conigliaro getting beaned by Jack Hamilton during the "Impossible Dream" season. That's the five-headed Mount Rushmore of most devastating Boston injuries.
Bandwagon Much?

Will get a catch against the Jags i mean i only saw the guy on the field probably 5 times so do you think he struggled that much in practice or do you think we are working him in slowly? I'm in no way calling him a bust but i thought he was supposed to be a big part of our offense and not once did i see evans look at him.....WTF????? Anyways the whole game i was waiting for a fade route to Hardy or a crossing route but nothing. So my ? is do you think he will even get a catch this week or even get a ball thrown his way?
What a bust!

I said 10 If cassel can manage like he did on sunday this is still a good team, i wont count them out til we beat them twice
-
Let's just worry about beating Jacksonville.
Agree

I thought the Pats* had a system that you could plug any player into and they would be successful?
I forgot, the NFL took away their video cameras.
Seriously, if they do keep on winning, does the media stop fawning all over Brady?
If they do faulter is if because Brady got hurt, or the lack of the video tapes?
Brady got hurt?
I hadnt seen the NfL tripping overthemselves to suck his dick while he was down in hopes he might "rise" to the occasion

Perform Jason and show up to work. I dont have sympathy for people who hold out. He had to take care of his family, My parents never got payed 4 million a year and i think we did ok, call em crazy but go to work and do your job. In a blue coller town like Buffalo that shouldnt get sympathy JMO

As we all know, McCargo was inactive last week. I just wondering whether all of you think he will be active this week due to a injury plagued interior offensive line, or will they keep him benched in favor of extra ST players as they did last week like Copeland Bryan?
I think being in the heat this week will make the Bills activate mccargo but it all depends on our game plan i guess. Withjocksonvilles running game i expect more D line to be in then ST

I'm not trying to be funny or disrespectful. Think for a second: Our first opponent's wide receiver corps is reduced to 3rd and 4th stringers by the second half, injuries to Burleson and Morris knocking them from the game. News of Brady going down for the year, and the Colts, Chargers and Jags all losing on opening day! Then our next opponent which we all feared playing has the problems upfront and what happened with Collier? There's coincidence and then theres something else. Its like all the pieces are falling into place in our favor, Its downright scary if you really sit and think about it.

BECAUSE Vince Young is out. He believes with Kerry Collins in there at QB, and Young on the sidelines, the Titans become the team to beat. I'm not a VY fan either, but I'm thinking this guy just likes to make ridiculous predictions to get face time...
REALLY?
I agree that the titans are better but i would take the colts or SD over the titans o and us
-
As much as I have grown to loathe the Pats*, I feel badly for Brady. On a personal level, having your season taken away from you after so much preparation and anticipation must completely suck.
As for the rest of the Pats* and their bandwagon fans -- screw 'em.
I agree i got hurt the second day of practice my senior year and it sucked so much sitting on the sideline for weeks unable to play
O and !@#$ the fans cant wait to see how long til the stadium is empty
-
He was inactive because Bryan and Denney play special teams and he doesn't. I expect him to be in there next week, too, because of the heat. But we have to be happy with the play of Spencer Johnson, which I expected, and Kyle Williams, which I didn't. Williams was pushing back OL at times like I have never seen before. Maybe the coaches were right about him.
Thats what i think. the inactives have to come from somewhere

I say we offer JP in a trade to New England for a high draft pick. In there desperate situation, they might be willing to part with next year's 2nd rounder. Could you imagine him throwing bombs to Randy Freakin' Moss? That would be ridiculous.
What do you guys think?
A high second rounder? Maybe a 4th even that would be a reach IMO. I think we keep JP for as long as we can becasue we all saw how quickly a team can go from being great to averaghe after one play. I want a backup that makes that dropoff not as severe. JP can do that IMO
matt Cassel cannot

The team played Hard every snap. We had seattle on their heels the entire game and by the fourth, you could tell seattle was looking forward to that flight home. That is what i was hoping to see and we got it. Its gonna be a fun year
GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice avatar!

Why do people bring up the "Pennington to Miami" thing? Yeah, Pennington went to Miami. From the Jets. HE SWITCHED CRAPPY AFC EAST TEAMS!!! How can that turn BOTH of them in to contenders?
Dont you know? His name is more household so he must be good

The steelers did everything to lose that game and somehow pulled it out. Conspiracy? perhaps but i still think the Pats* are the bigger pack o cheaters
