1. I am really surprised (honestly) that you have to ask this question, at least for us "old timers" here (I am 44)

The Bills represent BUFFALO. I am a BUFFALONIAN even though I now live in New "joisy")

What? Since the Bills continue to suck I can extricate myself from being a fan? Am I "obsessed" with the Bills? Maybe - THAT is where this thread should be going but at least understand that the Bills represent not just a team but a community. When they win, WE win, When they lose WE lose. Not being a Bills fan would be comparable to not being me.

    Never gonna happen.

Does that make me a "loser"?

Before you answer know this: SIMPLY TELLING PEOPLE I COME FROM BUFFALO is usually enough to get a laugh from people. I simply smile and tell then to keep thinking that way. I plan to return HOME when I can and live amongst the greatest people on earth. Most of them, of course, Bills fans. The people that think Buffalo is a joke can go ahead and laugh and continue to live in their unfriendly, uncaring communities - at least compared to the community that is WNY. Those of us that live out of town, know exactly what I am talking about.

So go ahead and laugh......nothing new to me.

ya dude i tell kids at my school im a bills fan and they laugh and my face ( most of them are dolphins fans so im getting a good laugh from that at least) but hey when game day rolls around you cant find anybetter fans in the world. i think so at least

  2. It has nothing to do with what Holcomb and Nall have shown. It's what I have seen and haven't seen from Losman. I know what I am going to get from Losman. I have and idea about Holcomb and know nothing about Nall. Now is the time to find out.

I know Losman contributes nothing that gives this team a chance to win. It's time to find out about Nall and Holcomb. That way you tell the other 50 guys that you tried eveything to win as many games as possible.

    819572

ok you wanna know what you got with holcomb. he backed up tim couch for a reason. hes not a statrer in the nfl, hes a carrer backup. Nall looked great backing up doug perderson if GB (who?). All off season this board was talijng about how we need to statrt losman and see what he can do, because he wasnt given a fair shot last year. you can say whatever you want but i dont see any resoan to say that this team is anywhere near playoff cliber with a different qb. the defense gives up over a hundred yrds rushing a game, our corners have been awsome(not)we have to rookie safetys, our line cant block worth a sh*t so we had to shake that up o and our d line (except shobel kelsey/denny) gets pushed back every play. the scheme isnt working yet on d the recivers are having touble bc the only reciever that is any good is evans so teams are doubling him. McGahee has been kind of a disappointment and our #1 ranked special teams has been pretty average. But since jp is coaching and playing is every aspect of the game we should just cut him and go with the carrer backup. then we have qb that we know cant win with a team that lacks the talent (ya i said it) hell lets sign jeff george hes still alive. with that fix it? no we need to see what he can with a full season every qb needs time and you can say big been was good but look at the team, brady was good look at the team, peyton Manning was horrible in his first year. i think they won 3 games but nobody gae up on him and look where he is now.

Nobody has ever questioned his work ethic. JP wants to succed he wants to win he want to get better, for a qb on a young team that is rebuilding that is a great guy to have behind center. Holcomb is okay in short stints. Nall said when he came to buffalo he just wants to start, Losman wants to get better id rether have him in there and watch him learn

  3. So if you hand it over to Craig Nall, does that mean you still go for a QB in the first round? What if Nall can lead this team? Those first round draft choices are like gold. You need to find out by the end of the year if Nall has a chance. The last thing I want to do is spend another year guessing if the Bills have a QB but if you have a shot at somebody like Quinn, you have to put some serious thought into it

    814491

Just to clarify to everyone Nall is backing up the one the only kelly Holcomb. hes not even our back up whats makes you think he can be a quality satrter if hes not even a quality back up yet?

  4. I guess that people on this board don't notice that the Patriots draft linemen in the first round, the last quarterback drafted by the Patriots in the first round was Bledsoe.

    813422

you may be a fair weather fan but your right. this team needs an oline and d line before we decide if losman is capable or not. i love jp he did make some nice plays today. that pass to evans shoulda been a td and he ovethrew davis but he played better than the bears game against a damn good team and coach who has had the bills number the last 7 games. the fumble when he got hit by vrable he had both hands on the ball which is an improvement from last week but he had no time to react he was in his face. the other fumble at the end, he tried to avoid the ref and lost it. by that time it didnt matter, his pick was bad but drafting another qb is not gonna make this better. if you draft a qb take a project in the fifth rd not a 1st rounder. that should be say a left tackle or guard or d tackle hell a linbacker even not a qb. if they draft a qb in the first rd (baring injury that so justifys it) i will no longer be a bills fan

  5. He's good, no suitable replacement...and we probably wouldn't get what he's worth. That is my opinion.

    Thank god it's friday.

    810930

the bills really didnt have an option. Marv said he was going to offer a 3rd rounder for booger not nate. Clements is a good corner wheter you agree or not. but if you traded him 1) you wont get fair value 2) who will start in his place thomas greer youboty? opposing teams will be licking their chomps. she if you can resign him in the off season if not youboty might be ready or asante samual sounds good to me. greer or thomas would be okay for a game or two but not long term. lets face it he is the best optionj we have a cb, no reason to trade him

  6. Ok so I was just listening to Espn radio in my bedroom before I was about to turn out the lights and go to bed when the "Gamenight" crew started talking about the Raiders.  They were talking about the worst teams in the NFL right now and the Bills actually got mentioned in this.  Here's what they said were the worst teams starting with the worst and going up.

    Oakland (worst)

    Tennessee

    Detriot

    Miami

    Washington

    Cleveland

    Arizona

    Buffalo

    Tampa Bay

    v

    v

    v

8th worst in the league.  I say were at least 10th or 11th.  Were still really bad though.

    805985

you know its crap when they rank us 5 spots above a team we just lost to. but hey they also said the eagles wouldnt have a chance and the saints had a long way to go. and that roethlisberger was good. lesson learned- dont believe everything you hear

  7. For some people it was never about rebuilding.

It's about certain individuals making sure people on a messageboard know that they were right, in capital letters, that so-and-so sucked and they knew it all along, or that they know so-and-so will never be good because they played football in HS.

It's not about watching a football team take a few steps forward each week and rooting for them win or lose.  It's not about knocking back a few beers with your buddies after digging graves or delivering the mail all week long.  It's about making sure everyone around them knows that they were right, and everyone else was wrong, or worse yet, chooses to be a fan just because they have the audacity to root for their home squad, win or lose.

For those people, the beer will never be cold enough.  For those people, the wings will never be hot enough.  For those people, no win will ever be satisfying.

    Well I say !@#$ them.

    806770

Amen you said it dude. I hate to see this team lose but i tune in every week becuase i believe in my team. Go Bills!!!!!!

  8. Is this before or after motorcycle accident/appendectomy?

He may not be the same ever again after these incidents and maybe these stats are truly representative of his possible decline.

    793920

ok im tired of hearing about his damn motercycle accident. the guy broke his jaw so what. players have played with a broken jaw. if he wasnt a product of a great system no one would care. hes really showing what hes made off with alot of those other guys gone. 34.3 passer rating is no fluke

  9. They had the 8th pick in the draft and plenty of cap room. If this team had a GM they may have been able to turn that into a QB.

From everything I've read, Cutler looks like the real deal in Denver. Whitner looks good. But I'll take a good QB over a good DB any and every day.  :D

    790522

wow dude. how can you say we dont have a gm? Marv is the best thing to happen to this football team since kelly left, he drafted 5 impact players on defense in his first draft. and that reach was named rookie of the month. and how can anyone say cutler is the real deal, he hasnt started a game, i play quaterback, im a back up, i look great in practice too. hell i could win states if every game was a practice. And if you draft a qb, what do you do with losman? cut him trade him for a 6th rounder? why so you can take a chance on someone who looked great in practice and preseason. BTW if lyou may rember losman went 5 -5 in his first preseason game then he got hurt. he looked like the real deal then didnt he?

O and roethlisberger has been great this year. hes won a wwhole bunch of games on his own right? o and manning um he llooked like a pro bowler last week vs seattle. rivers beat oakland....who hasnt. dont write him off yet. wait and see what he can do

  10. I love JP (he is my favorite player -seriously).

However, the bootleg was his fault. I have played and coached QB's so know a bit about fundementals. Often, the DE is left unblocked on a bootleg. The DE will bite a step or two on the fake. However, the QB has to run deeper into the backfield to prevent what happened. JP ran that too shallow, probably because he was trying to be too quick to the endzone.

That play would have worked if he ran it properly and 1-2 yards deeper

    788545

No dude i also play quaterback, that d end had a great angle and he didnt bite on the fake at all. (if the d end did step towards the fake i would agree with u) if he goes back another yrd or 2 he just gives the d end a greater chance to pursure and a better angle. he made the right move to try and undercut him i woulda done the same thing.

  11. You may want to re-examine your numbers. Looking at the play-by-play on NFL GSIS, I added up a grand total of 124 yards-after-catch. 328-124=204. 204 does NOT look similar to 83.

    Just sayin'.

    786919

Guys i cant believe your aguring this. did anyone everythink that with our speedy recivers wouldnt some plays be designed to have runs after the catch. hats off to jp for running the friggin gameplan, and cmpletiong his deep balls when asked. the kid played well and like every other qb in the league, made some mistakes get over it, i thought he looked a quality nfl starter. Go JP!

  12. I really don't know what to say.  You can't say it's ok.  But in a sense you can because some of the bad plays weren't your fault.  There's always next week Jp to rebound.

    784356

Last week all you guys wanted to see was jp open up and go wild against that secondary. Wow he did, ya he threw a bad pick and was BLINDSIDED twice. but he didnt quit, dopwn to that last play he was fighting, and idc if we lost he showed me that hes a competitor and he wont quit on this team. We are rebuilding too, be happy the kid showed flashes of greatness, this is only his 11th start, be patient.

  13. You guys have to be kidding me...

Dick Jauron was trying to teach a young team, that no one thinks can win, how to stick the dagger into the heart of an opponent  (one we were supposed to have NO CHANCE of beating) on the ground.  If it would have worked, it would have been brilliant.

    767558

Ya i mean lets look at the bright side, this team came out and sacked brady forced a fumble and scored. They made a statement early that it was going to be a fight. I said right away we had to go for it on 4 th and 1. I didnt like the play call, (jp bootleg maybe) but hey we went for it. on the road against tom brady you gotta make it as tough as possible. had we scored a TD there game over Juaron is a hero. it didnt work out but i was very impressed with this team, they will be tough to beat and im looking forward to alot of good games this year. 8 8, 7 9 is not out of reach. Go Bills!!!

  14. Yes.  I may be a little more optimistic than most, but I really think the Bills will be competeitve this year.

Look at it this way, we were a couple bounces away from 8-8 LAST SEASON, as bad as it was.  If we hold on in Miami and NE, there is 2 more wins.  If we beat the Jets late last season, there is another win.  Also, don't forget the NO game.  If McGee gets into the endzone on that KR at the end of the half, I really think that game could have been different.

So, I truly believe that with BETTER coaching and playcalling, which I think we have, why can't we turn those 3-4 games the other way this year?

I think the Bills will open some eyes this year.

    763931

You are absolutly right. i cant stand when all the "experts" write us off as the brady quinn sweepstake winners. thats a load of crap. 8 and 8 and a few very close losses. look for all the experts to be "shocked" when we start 4 and 0

  15. cutting GATES??????????  NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    759872

I really liked Gates he showed me he can play in this league.I hope we get him back or he finds successs with someone else, hes a good player. Expect wire to get released as soon as bowen is healthy again, and baker to be resigned. we needed a backup ss for whitner. overall i like our roster this year. ill miss fast freddie tho :w00t:
