  1. Nassib interviewed by Dan Patrick yesterday. http://www.syracuse.com/axeman/index.ssf/2013/04/ryan_nassib_nfl_draft.html#incart_more_sports
  2. Branch might be the right guy for the bills, but kelly is the right guy for the pats. Belichick loves vets and he don't care if they're over 30... in fact, for him it's a prerequisite.
  3. As far as Big East defenders getting drafted... according to the pundits, thes guys will be gone by the end of round four... Steve Beauharnais Khaseem Greene Logan Harper Shamarko Thomas Sio Moore Dwayne Gratz Blidi Wrey-Wilson Don't confuse facts for excuses. There are no excuses for Nassib. He is what he is regardless of where he played and the players around him are what they are and only his LT (who played about a half season) will be playing on Sundays... none of his skill players will be. That's fact not an excuse. That can't be said of the other top 4 qbs.. they all have one or two skill players (WR/TE/RB) that will be playing on Sundays. Did their skill players make them or was it the other way around? We know the answer with Nassib... we don't on the others. And, for just a wee bit of perspective, McNabb had Harrison, Grimes, Rob Konrad and Kevin Williams. The last three had about 5 year careers in the NFL. The first two didn't do too bad either. They all played in the Big East. Nassib broke many of McNabb's passing Stats... any household name you want to toss out there as to who he threw the ball to that will play in Sundays? Anyone with better than 4.7 40 speed. I'd have to say Nassib squeezed more juice from the orange he had than did the others... again, fact and a cogent observation... period. I get it, The Big East, offenses or defenses, are not the Big Ten or SEC. So what? Flacco (Del), Roethlesberger (Miami OH), Romo (E. Ill.), Kaepernick (Nevada-Reno), all played against the opposition in their respective conferences which were not as competitive as the Big East. So what? You play who you play and you either suck or you don't suck. All of the top 5 QBs have respectable numbers and have had good runs. What it comes down to for the Bills at QB is "fit" all they way around... and Nassib earned his way into that mix.
  4. Has any QB ever looked bad or not smart on Gruden's QB Camp? Great sports entertainment though. And that's their objective. However, it adds no value to a QBs draft status.
  5. Couple things... 1) If you think Nassib reminds you of McCoy, you've probably never seen either play too much. McCoy has no arm. Nassib does. You can clearly distinguish arm strength. McCoy has excellent mobility. Nassib has average mobility. Nassib is thick and muscular. McCoy is 20 lbs. lighter with not much heft to his frame. McCoy was surrounded with great talent at Texas. Nassib did not have talent around him at Syracuse. The only similarity between the two is they were starting college qbs, both are about 6'2" tall, and both are white. 2) The head coach (Marrone) does not act unilaterally when it comes to drafting players. In the end it's Buddy's call if a clear consensus on a player has not been reached. So there is other things in play here. Marrone can share his opinion with Whaley, Buddy, Russ, the scouts, the assistants. But until everyone has seen him up close and personal to refute or validate opinions the process isn't complete. And if they don't evaluate each and every qb candidate in the same way, in the end they can't compare them objectively.
  6. If ya love interceptions, you'll love tuel. he's got like a 27-20 td/int ratio.
  7. Reality time, he is 5'8" about 175 lbs. He can only play in the slot and he gets hurt a lot. The only team that would pick him @ #8 is a stupid team. Granted he can be electric, when healthy. But, this is a luxury pick for a team that is clearly SB material, or on the cusp and has a lot of depth at WR. My guess is the niners will move up to somwhere near the middle of the first round to snatch him up. Touche' for the Harvin move that the Seadogs made. Hackett or any of the coaches may say a lot of things... and 99% of them are usually taken not just out of context, but way out of context. Why would he not want Austin? Why would he not want a lot of guys? He's already got Spiller and he's already got TJ. adding someone else similar at the top of the draft is shear insanity when you've got a bizillion other holes to fill.... just talkin reality... not pretend.
  8. Seriously.... look at Tjax's body of work over 7, yeah seven, NFL seasons. It adds up to a barely magrinal backup QB, and certainly not remotely close to a low level starter. He may be tough, but he also must not be smart if he continually takes hits in most of his games. That tells me he has no pocket presence, internal clock, and can't read defenses, process the information quickly and get the ball out quickly. Any wonder why he is where he is? So, Alan Branch believes in Tjax, Tjax believe in Branch. Fabulous! Now, let's all hold hands and kumbaya around the campfire.
  9. 1) With Kolb as the only viable qb now, and with Kolbs overall history & body of work, the Bills must draft a qb that can play this season... Because he is going to have to. And, the Bills don't want to pay Kolb the high end $$ of his contract if at all possible. 2) If Nassib is the Bills "guy" at qb, and they are certain, then they can't wait until the 2nd round to select him. They have two options A) select him @ #8 B) trade down to a comfortable slot in the 1st round and select him there as well as garner a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Obviously, with option B there has to be a very good player at #8 to motivate any trading partner. Although I like option B the best, I just do not see any team willing to be a trading partner for that pick at #8. And, with the Bills having backed themselves into the QB corner, every team knows that if the Bills do not take a qb at #8, it is a lock that they have to at 41 and some team is going to move up to 40 to snatch a qb. If their guy isn't there at 41 they won't take their #2 or #3 guy at qb at that slot... they will hold off til rd. 3 or 4 and select Wilson or Landry... whovever is left. Neither will be a good starter and the Bills will again jump on the qb merry go round next year for their starter. So, yes, it is a gamble to expect Nassib to be there at 41.
  10. "in case he's on the bench" ? That's a virtual certainty. That or IR.
  11. old. Bills are going young and with a lot of speed at lb this year.
  12. Three things... 1) you are listening to the wrong people. You are listening to beat reporters... Mcshay, Mort, Mayock. Listen to Narwocki, Lande, Cosell. 2) I don't see how anyone with 20/20 vision that watched him play, especially over his last 7 games that he doesn't have a strong arm or that he doesn't have the necessary athletic skills. His arm is as strong as both Mannings, Brees, and Brady. What athletic skills do those four have? Zilch! What they have is between the ears ... exactly what Nassib has over the other class of 2013 qbs. 3) Of the top 7 qbs in this draft... no one was surrounded with less talent than Nassib. He single handedly moved that offense. His passing threat kept def front sevens from crowding the los and kept them honest and off balance. As far as being overrated... I don't get it... he is unsung, gets nowhere near the pub Barkley, Geno, Glennon get by far. Outside of the northeast, which isn't exactly a football hot bed, not very many know who he is or ever heard of him. And to lump him in with Gabbert is a clear indicator that you don't know much about Nassib. Gabbert is not in love with football. Nassib is and he's a hell of a competitor. Go back and take a look at the hit he took on a blitzer in the Pin Strip bowl. A clean shot at him at full speed. Was out for one play and came back in. If any of the other top qbs in the draft had taken that hit they'd have been out the rest of the game.
  13. Overrated? Hmm. How so? Please 'splain' that. Tks.
  14. Anyone surprised with the Moats appraisal? Just might be interesting to see how this coaching staff utilizes him.
  15. Whatever. I think you are way too emmotional to form an objective opinion on Nassib. I mean... you're just throwing stuff out there with nothing to back it up. Just the 5th round comment should have been my clue. Guess you've got some axe to grind with Marrone and Syracuse. Have at it.
  16. The time to get excited is when you see a clear indication that they've turned the corner. "W"s = excitement. All of the offseason crap is, well, just crap. It doesn't translate to "W"s on the field until they show it.
  17. That's quite strange because Greg Cosell of NFL Films and one of the mosted respected film graders, was wowed by his ball "location" (placement) and accuracy as well as how quickly he reads. When you suggest his receivers had to slow down or wait... #1 how do you know the receiver was in the exact spot he should have been? and, #2, you do realize that none of Nassib's receivers will be playing on Sundays, right? I mean, aside from a couple of offensivve linemen and a decent, but not great, RB, Nassib didn't have a lot to work with, and that includes Alec Lemon... a wr with 4.7 40 speed.
  18. Depends on what you mean by talent? Are you talking sinply measureables? 1) 40yd. dash, height, over the top arm strength?... Or 2) are you talking a combination of the measureables, intangeables, qb instinct, game knowledge, work ethic, toughness, effectiveness, leadership? If you're simply talking #1, then you'd probably take EJ Manuel... but then you'd potential be getting a guy that will be Vince Young, TJax, or Joe Webb in about 3 years. If you're talking both #1 and #2, then it's a no brainer. Nassib his head and shoulders above the class. Take a look at the senior numbers for the last two QBs selected at #8 (Locker, 2011 & Tannehill, 2012)... Nassib's blows them away... and he was surrounded by way less talent... a clear indication he is a player, a huge factor, and a difference maker. 5th round??? Are you sure? I ask because if that's where you're at on this, I've got $200 that I'll wager right now that says he's off the board way before that. And there's probably 1,000 othe "wallers" that would appreciate being let in on some of that action.
  19. Imo marcus wheaton is the top of the class. He's a quality producer.
  20. Agreed. Cam aint a franchise qb and neither is Geno. Compare Cam to Luck and Griffen and there is no comparison. All three played on teams with about the same talent level yet very different results.
  21. Fabulous. Bills will then select him in the 6th round
  22. Fabulous. Lets pass on Barkley and wait til next off season and sign him as a free agent. Just goes to show that if you have a top ranked defense you can win with Pee Wee Herman at qb.
