  1. Kicking at the Ralph is just not the same as other places. I think they need to be graded on a curve to some extent, at least for half the games. How many times have visiting kickers looked foolish, and then Lindell knocks it right down the middle pretty consistently? Same with Moorman---- its easy to see the difference with the wind at opposite ends in the trajectory of the punts. Kicking into the east end the ball sails for ever and lands hard, and the other way, it gets stood up like a wedge into a 30 MPH wind and lands soft. Thats pretty challenging to gauge the distance. Anyone who plays golf can attest to that. I'd agree that moorman hasn't impressed me with his inside the 20 kicking though. That turns into a huge advantage when your kicker can pull that off, especially at home.
  2. This brings up 2 points to me: 1. It seems the bills are really quick to drop players on IR for a 4-6 week injury. They did it a few times last year as I recall (Parrish, Batten, Davis and probably more). Granted they are mostly role or reserve players, but it seems too reactionary to me. I don't have any knowledge of the severity of injuries other than what I read online, but it is just a consistent impression I get from this front office. 2. I think the new CBA should have had some alteration to the IR policy----like a 4 week or 8 week mini-IR where the guys don't count towards the roster, but they can come back later when they get well. Sort of like the PUP in preseason. Its just ridiculous to lose a year for the player, team, and fans for a relatively minor injury.
  3. There was a play earlier in the first half where Spiller was stood up by about 5 Broncos and pushed back about 10 yards before he had his helmet ripped off by.......... Rahim Moore. It was clearly intentional, and I think that play should have been a flag also.
  4. I've watched alot of football games, and I do not recall ever seeing a lineup of coaches all standing absolutely still despite the action of the game approaching them. Seems to me they specifically stood there to disrupt/impede the play given the high likelihood the gunner would get pushed out of bounds in that area.... which is at least unsportsmanlike, and borders on dangerous douchebaggery. The way they acted in unison makes me think it was premeditated, but unless the Jets admit they did it on purpose, it will be difficult to prove. The league shouldn't have to make rules to govern the sidelines and coaches behaviors, but I hope they make an example of the Jets and cause a little embarrassment in the process. Obviously the dude who actually tripped the gunner should receive some sort of specific punishment.
  5. After watching the Dolphins-Jets game, I think we are playing much better than either of them, and both games are winnable. Nothing would please me more than to end both of their playoff hopes this season, even if it means dropping a few spots in the draft. To be truthful, I am conflicted about this though. After watching the Pats*-Bears game, I think New England is the frontrunner for the superbowl:( We may get their scrubs if they have locked up home field which I think they would with a W next week, and in that case, the game could also be winnable. It would be an awesome way to head into the offseason with a sweep of the division no?
  6. Thank you for posting the Missing Rings----I've seen it before, but I watched the entire thing again. If any bills fan hasn't seen it (you're not a real fan or too young)-----take an hour and watch it. Literally brings tears to my eyes to relive that team/era. 20 years later, and I still can't believe we couldn't pull that one out. I was crushed then, and I remain crushed now. Here's to a better future of Bills football!
  7. Pretty sure we get more excitement and production out of Spiller than we did out of Maybin last year---possibly in the first game.......
  8. Mckelvin was drafted in April 08 b/c greer was a free agent at the end of the 08 season, and Mcgee's contract was up this year until he signed an extension. Pretty sure McK was the highest ranked CB near-unanimously. We just got Florence this year 09. Are your faulting the FO for not acquiring Florence a year earlier (think he was a Free agent then also before signing with Jags) or anticipating his availability the following year? Either way it is a stretch, and all hindsight as you know. I can certainly find philosophical fault with selecting DB's (and Lynch, Losman, and Parrish) as high as we have given our barely adequate lines, but it really is a seperate issue unrelated to Florence. No?
  9. I remember him talking about adding 10lbs in the offseason to make it through the season stronger, and was worried it was a mistake. Looks like another poor plan by our Buffalo Bills..... Hopefully he will drop back to 210 (or whatever he was) so he can have a run over 4 yards. Some blocking might help as well.
  10. I was considering going to the Bills vs Carolina game in Charlotte, but on Stub hub or ebay tickets were 100-300$. I think we still have the cheapest tickets in the league--or very close to cheapest. Ralph bashers should at least give him credit for that. Whether the team is worth watching is another story.
  11. If I were Ralph, I would have been irritated a few weeks ago when TO basically said his career could be extended playing in B-Lo because DJ ran such an easy gig. In fact, I was irritated by it.....and not with TO. The sideline discussion has absolutely nothing to do with the firing---thats stupid. The past 3.5 yrs is enough reason. Duh. Writers need to stop manufacturing drama. There is plenty already.
  12. Hope you got some molson exports or canadians!! I miss that stuff down South. But the sunshine and women make the pain tolerable.... as long as you don't look at their teeth, or listen to them talk Guess that explains why I'm out in the woods alone .
  13. I went for a spontaneous one night backpacking trip to catch the meteor shower monday (got cloudy) and made it back at 230 today for the happy news. Here's the irony: The last time I did a spontaneous backpacking trip, we signed TO while I was in the woods(for better or worse). SO I've decided whenever we need something accomplished in the organization, I will bite the bullet and go drink some beers under the stars by myself at the local state park. Unfortunately, I may need to move there permanently.....
  14. They seem to throw to him on routes he is not equipped to run. He seems to run stops, hitches, etc. and doesn't get much seperation from the defender. He is small----so it is easier for the defender to knock the ball down, or blow him up and prevent the catch. If he were able to run slants and crossing patterns he'd have more space, and be more productive. He might take some pretty big hits though going through the middle---maybe why they don't do this more? Either way, I think S. Johnson is a better option----and TO is really the only guy on our roster who excels at those routes. I think/hope we see a different offense all together with him back in there.
  15. Vick signs with the Felons????? Hope not. Man has something to prove and wicked skills........
  16. I grew up in Rochester, college in Binghamton, and back to rochester for 7 more years of med school and residency. By the time I was done I needed to get out. Jobs, housing, and $ (like 50% more) are MUCH better in SC. HOWEVER, the people down here are something else entirely. I can't believe there is such a difference in the overall education/awareness of the population. They don't even recycle down here unless throwing it in the woods counts, and the bible belt is called that for a reason (Ughh). I barely even date down here, and I am a single physician. ie. everyone thinks I should pull all kinds of tail. Thinking of moving if I don't meet someone compatable soon, but most likely west, not north. That being said----I don't think one appreciates how cloudy it is in WNY until you move away. The "weather" does not boil down to cold or snow. It is all about the sunshine. The Spring and Fall down here is absolutely amazing for months..... Yes it is hot and sticky for july/august, but I'll take that over the clouds for oct-april in WNY. And "winter" consists of 1-2 storms year, which melts the next day, and days are 45-50 and sunny.
  17. Point taken---"running his mouth" is an overstatement on my part. It's unclear what he was asked, and what he volunteered on his own. The best response(if asked) would have been to deflect mention of another team or trade, and say he's happy to make the best of where he is right now. He didn't really do that in my opinion, but it may be the way the quotes are set up. I was reading between the lines a little, maybe he's just sensitive his name was floated around in trade rumors. I guess I would be too---especially if I felt I was underutilized and watching my career go by without acheiving my goals.
  18. He should try getting open...... Seems to me he never has much separation, and he is too small/weak to battle for the ball. Most of the picks in OTA's are trying to throw to him (based on the limited video of the practices). To this point I have blamed the coaches for not having utilized him properly, but I am starting to wonder if it is not on him. With his quickness he should be a much more dangerous and effective player, getting the ball with some room for his amazing running ability to make some plays. Aside from one play against the Jets 2 years ago, I don't recall him running in space at all. I also don't really like him running his mouth about it. Maybe thats why he was on the block? Maybe he wanted out of Buffalo?
  19. Maybe I'm wrong, but I didn't see much of JP's deep ball this past year. What I remember seeing certainly was not "nice." A few years ago he had some nice throws, and a few jump balls Evans made great plays on a crappy pass. I remember TE threw a few deep to Evans in the early season, and in the KC game, that would qualify as nice (ie. completed). He can throw deep well enough, but shied away from it for the majority of the season. Schonert has said in interviews that deep shots are called during every game---- I think TE turned them into checkdowns to Jackson/Lynch too often. TO will have an undeniable impact on the Defensive approach to our offense. Now TE just has to see, anticipate, and trust his receivers and throw the damn ball like he is capable of. Someone has got to be open given our talent at WR/RB.... Sometimes I think TE might be head%^$@(* just like JP.
  20. Lets hope not. Hopefully a team that allegedly emphasizes special teams realizes the value #11 has. He impacted our games positively as much as anyone on the field. I do recall him not fielding a handful he should have fair caught.....but still. Dude consistently flipped the field for us. Several games we won he was pivotal in momentum and field position. Only if he is part of a trade for another player at a more needed position would I be OK with this.
  21. I am an ER MD, and shortly after the KE situation I had a patient with an acute spinal injury and inquired if we should implement core cooling therapy. The neurosurgeon declined----saying it mandated 24-48 hours of continued cooling, for as yet unclear benefits, and was therefore currently not standard of care. I work in a large community hospital in SC. It may be currently used in large academic centers (ie training/research hospitals), but I'm unsure.
  22. ..... We trade down!!!!!!!!! I would imagine someone would be willing if this unlikely situation occurred. We get an extra pick in the 2nd, and some other round, (2 extra good picks at least) depending on the partner. Maybe a first next year. We need more than 1 dude to help this team win---especially if dude's a receiver. It'd be nice to have a shot at a top 3 DT/DE, C/G, TE all in one draft. Assuming we didn't F it up...... I think that would help us more than Crabtree----even though he appears to be an undeniable talent. If no trade, I think you go with the guy that has the best chance to be a game changer with pick 11(C'Tree) and not reach for a need(Maybin/Cushing/Johnson/Jerry/Ayers etc.)
  23. This would upset me more than anything else we do/don't do this offseason. Even if it were a trade for a 5th round pick, at least that is something compared to nothing. Somehow, I am not suprised that we would bugger up an opportunity like this. Who's fault would that be? Brandon I suppose?
