  1. Well you can certainly let him know if and when he ever takes the field. I hope the whole stadium gives this smug a$$ something to think about and keep it up !!!
  2. You are correct, my bad. Shipped out when Bills were still playing at the Rockpile in 70. Think I made it home once in 6 years and were I was you didn't get much news. I came home and the Bills had a new home but there was a real disconnect because the last time I saw them play it was in the Rockpile. All those years are just a blur now and I don't try to remember them; a lot of bad stuff and I'll leave it at that. Couldn't get my head into Bills football again until the late 70's
  3. Actually Play "B" has been in the Bills playbook since the beginning of time or is that 1960 ?? Either way many moons. Now Dan Darragh in 1968 made this play into an art form. The short "Hail Mary Pass" was perfected by 'ol Danny boy. Of his 92 completions for the whole year in 1968 90 where classic "Play B", the other two he caught himself. Oh did I mention, Darragh didn't have a really strong arm in the winds of what then was called Rich Stadium. Now to be certain this play that Dan Darragh made his bread & butter (he really didn't have any other) play has been copied by numerous other quarterback wanna-bees the Bills have tried to pass off as "real honest-to-goodness NFL Quarterbacks".
  4. This is on the coaches, esp the rookie HC. Inexperience evaluating the overall talent as a Head Coach and playing previous starters for extended snaps of the ball because the new staff is not familiar with the talent of the team they inherited. Gillmore should have had one series....tops and then benched for the rest of the game. The sum of all the parts of the Bills Organization, is green, green, green; from CEO Russ Bradon to GM Doug Whaley to Head Coach Doug Marrone. The question going forward is, will all these components mature and blend in to make this a competent football organization
  5. Only an experienced GM would think to do what you suggest...We don't have one of those yet
  6. Happy Birthday Grant, my friend I hope you have many, many more healthy ones. May your day be blessed
  7. That's only allowed on odd weeks and this happens to be an even week
  8. Where the hell did I ever mention what line of work ? Far from any franchise type work but that's beside the point. The Chicago Bears flagged this future muderer and took him off their draft board. Very possible that other teams followed suit but New England it would seem ignored or disreguarded all the red flags. It was no secret to every NFL team of what the NFL's background checks revealed about Hernandez. All teams are given the same background information as part of the overview for each player. Some teams dig deeper, some just take that player off the board Your insults show an immaturity that I rarely remember seeing in my line of work. Most were screened out before they were interviewed by me. As far as risk/ reward, the NFL and particularily the New England Patriots are going to receive a lot of negative press. Does anyone for a moment believe that the NFL or that most NFL teams would want to leave the same door open for this to occur in the future if they can put in force stricter (drafting) hiring pratices. Damage control costs money. It is already costing the Patriots with their jersey buy back. The trial most likely will begin this fall and the negative press the NFL will receive will be countered by advertising and that is going to be expensive. No one in the NFL, especially the teams that do not draft players of questionable character will be all too happy to foot the bill because of another teams arrogance. The NFL being an employer can set hiring guidelines that all teams must follow if adopted by a majority vote. Is this imminent, probably not at present but if another shoe were to fall there undoubtedly would be pressure (both internally from owners and externally from the press and paying public) to adopt a different set of hiring guidelines.
  9. Ever hear of Background Checks ??? Many employers run them and yes employment can be denied. Where did this entitlement attitude come from ??? I FILLED OUT A JOB APPLICATION AND I DEMEND THE JOB !!!! I have talked with other employers I have known throughout years and I can assure anyone here that a cocky, in your face attitude will not get you the job. IM not going to invest my time and money on a head case or presents himself as a "Gangsta' when applying for employment. Not going to happen. Nada, Nope, Never. There are plenty of applicants to choose from that do present themselves as mature young adult men and women. Another thing; we do check with past employers and the top two red flags are, not dependable and lazy. So you young men and women, everything you do will follow you throughout your working years either as a positive or a red flag.
  10. Really good article by James Whitlock, thanks. And a perspective by the National Football Post's Greg Gabriel on why this thug wasn't on the Chicago Bears draft board: http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/How-do-NFL-clubs-find-out-about-character.html
  11. Of course the greed is despicable but the NHL for most Americans is not a must watch event so the NHL will chase the money wherever it comes from. Be interesting to see where the playoffs end up in the ratings. My guess would be not high and probaly be in the bottom third. Oh and I didn't intend to highjack your thread with my prior post.
  12. Does the threat of Congress dropping the Antitrust exemption the NFL enjoys keep them from having all their games on cable or Direct TV(NFL Network or ESPN for example), ie: pay TV ? If I remember correctly, if the Bills were on a strictly cable channel here in WNY the game was also televised on a local channel. Or is the cash cow the NFL now enjoys enough incentive to keep them on free TV regardless of their antitrust exemption ?
  13. Two years in a row in Buffalo & suburbs we got off easy. A lot of one inch or two inch snowfalls. My snowplow guy showed up once to plow maybe 4-5 inches of snow. From an upstairs window I can see the south towns getting pounded maybe ten miles away W/SW . The winds this past year kept the snow right where it should be....in the snowbelt with all the skiers & snow bunnies. Here is the GoldenSnowball award for highest snow fall in NYS http://goldensnowball.com/
  14. No 1 reason I got club seats followed quickly by reason # 2 of some drunk assclown of spilling a cup of beer on my wife's back. Security had to practically carry him out he was so drunk.
  15. Whoever cooked that steak ruined it. Anything more than medium rare is a sin
  16. In the beginning TSW had quite a few grammer police but most just faded away and the one other poster besides yourself probably got tired of correcting people . The torch has been passed. Keep up the good work.
  17. Thank You Grant for the words of wisdom and remembering Paul. The many strands of our interactions here make up a part of the fabric of our lives. Paul added many strands to this humble life and so do You. For that IM eternally grateful
  18. Tom You said it best.....Paul is dead because he loved his wife http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/47332-paul-lewczyk/ Some broken hearts never mend. A friend I will never forget and to this day miss his PM's helping me get thru another day when my whole world was upside-down. Just so sad all around
  19. I feel your pain. Just like a lobster loooking at you with those beady black eyes before hes plunged head first into the boiling water
  20. Same here, IM not spending any more of my hard earned dough on this clown of an organization. Hope after hope; year after year. Sinking further down the sewer hole while Darcy the bobblehead sprews meaningless drival. Why Pegula won't sack this pretender is beyond any sense of logic. As always its about the almighty buck. Pegula knows no matter how crappy this team is, no matter how much do nothing DR further depletes the Sabres talent, he'll have 10,000 Canadians buying tickets. Pegula is a fraud, fan my butt. The Sabres are just another business investment for Pegula who has his bobblehad GM; and D. R. has his "Yes Man" head coach. Blah, Bland & Milquetoast.....Pegula, Regier and Rolstone..
  21. Happy Birthday John, hope you had an enjoyable day
  22. We planted 21 Blue Spruces on the SW portion of our lot. Both Norways and Blues are beautiful trees. First planting in '96. 13 Blues, 8-10 foot tall and in '97 another 8 Blues, 10-12 footers. They are all over 20-25 foot now. Grew into one another very nicely to form the windbreak from the southwest winds and the snows that used to drift in our yard. They were dug and B&B in Canada one day and the next I had them all planted. I brought in over 40 yards of soil that we spread into a long berm because this ground here in Lancaster is all clay and spruces don't like wet feet. Salt will kill spruces, so stay far back from roads. I also mixed in about 19-20 big bales(6 cubes) of peat moss. Can't buy those anymore either. The nursery men backed the truck up to the berm and pushed the blues at each point along the berm were I wanted them planted. Good thing I had everything set to go with planting them as each ball & burlapped spruce had a ball that easily weighed over 500 pounds. The Canadian men that balled these spruces knew what they were doing as they saved much of the root system. There wasn't much we had to do are far as planting. We stood them up and secured each one with a couple of guide wires. In about a months time more that half the ball on each tree had sank into our soil/peatmoss base. I left the wire guides on for two summers as a precaution but by that time the root system on each tree had established itself. Besides the natual beauty of our "Blue Spruce fence", every spring and summer our trees become the homes to many species of birds. Too many wood or plastic fences; they are all over subdivisions everywhere, so I commend you for thinking of planting a natural fence. Ask what is available at nurseries in your area. Ask how tall? I planted a few other bushes that said "dwarf" that grew to 10 feet !! I knew beforehand and was OK with it but ask questions so you don't have any disappointments later. Some handle wind better, some need a little protection, some are magnets for flying insects. And most of all start with a good soil foundation and after planting only fertilize on the top of the soil where the edge of the ball would be. Never close to the base of any plant and go lightly on the fertilizer, as a little goes a long way. Too much will burn a plants roots. I only fertilize my trees and schrubs once a year, late May, early June; after that it is too hot to fertilize. On the other side of house is a big side yard. For privacy and to break it up a little, I planted a row of 20 Hetzi blue Junipers in early '98. Today I have a beautiful blue-green fence about 8 foot high across the whole side lot. Its so full from top to bottom, that a squirl couldn't run thru it. Not much maintenance. I have it trimmed once or twice a year. These are very hardy scrubs and will take wind and cold temps and think they are drought resistant also but I do not remember if this is indeed a fact. I bought them at 4-5 foot and would keep topping a little each year so they would fill in. Not much trimming of the sides in all these years, and I like that ! I never asked about salt with these. Whatever you purchase ask how close to a road that gets salted can you plant "such" and "such". Nurserymen, I have always found, to be willing to answer any questions I might have.
  23. Only way we fans can protest years and years of futility. The cleaning of this stinky house didn't go far enough. How the hell is Regier keeping his job ???? I've poured a lot of money info this franchise and I have had it with these charlatans. No more IM done with them.
