I was. First game in 62 Endured those one win seasons in 68 and 71 or how about 9 consecutive home losses from Oct. 18, 1970 to Nov. 21, 1971. Went on active duty for the US Navy in Aug of 71, so I was spared the greater heartbreak of seeing the Bills lose than if I would have if I had been sitting in the stands. Still was a bummer and took a lot of ribbing from my shipmates. I really wore my beloved Buffalo Bills on my sleve back then and still today get bummed out when they lose, but in those early years it was always like someone took a sledgehammer to my gut after a Bills loss. Sat through those 14 lose seasons in 84 and 85 but the 12 loss season in 68 was for me by far the hardest season I have ever gone through. Todays Bills are light years ahead of any of those teams in terms of producing a winning season. Back then the only way to improve was through a trade or the draft; and before the AFL-NFL merger even that was iffy. At least today a team can turn their fortunes around a lot quicker. Hope should never be far removed from anyones lips when it comes to the Buffalo Bills in todays NFL. Stick around and enjoy the ride for there is no doubt in my mind that the Bills will someday be once again at the top of the NFL heap. As the late Bob Curran used to end his Buffalo News column with: Hang tough and Say a prayer for our guys and gals over there

HOLIDAY INN Reservations - Opener
LancasterSteve replied to Just Jack's topic in TBD Annual Tailgate (TBDAHOT)'s Topics
I do believe that Annette Mathews, (Director of Sales of the Holiday Inn) told me that the same rate would be good for all home games. I will give her a call to find out for sure. You can also check it out by putting in the code TBD as I described above, for the dates you want and see if the discounted rate appears. -
You would do yourself a service by just losing that bookmark. 400701[/snapback] Good advice BTW I have not heard of any dealings with Philly from my side of the fence. Not saying something can't happen with them but I would be surprised.

well the second BIG STORM hit my street
LancasterSteve replied to #89's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I saw the "light show" out my back window and wondered how you were faring. Glad your power is back on. We got hammered the day before. Thankfully only lost power for 5-6 hours and am also greatful that none of my trees blew over. You are right about being a very bad storm; reminded me somewhat of the bad ones we have rode out in Puerto Rico. -

LancasterSteve replied to Just Jack's topic in TBD Annual Tailgate (TBDAHOT)'s Topics
As Jack mentioned in the Bills East forum many thanks to Annette Mathews - Director of Sales for the Buffalo/Hamburg Holiday Inn for once again giving the fans of Two Bills Drive a very good rate of $79 per night. This rate is good September 9th, 10th and 11 but can be extended 2 days before and two days after, subject to availability. To get this rate You must make reservations by August 19th at the latest and mention Two Bills Drive when calling: Holiday Inn-Buffalo/Hamburg 5440 Camp Rd.,Hamburg, NY 14075 716-649-0500/Fax 716-648-2278 or online here: http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hd/bufhb The one bed rooms have a king size bed (first come, first serve ) The standard rooms have two doubles in them. We have a contract for at least 40 room nights, so lets fill them up and ensure that we get the same very good rate again next year. BTW Annette Mathews is big fan of the Buffalo Bills and is at RWS every home game AND she enjoys reading the Stadium Wall -

Artpark in Lewiston, NY has shows throughout the summer. Also Tuesdays in the Park are free concerts. Nice place, wife and I always enjoy going there. Here's the web address http://www.artpark.net/ Check the Tuesdays in the Park link for the free Concerts As far as foods..beef on weck, Chicken wings and Italian sausage w/fried peppers and onions are all good bets on local fair. Also the pizza here is still the best IMHO For swimming there is Beaver Island State Park (nice place for a picnic also) on Grand Island and in the southern tier there is Evengola (sp?) State Park right on lake Erie. They have picnic tables also but BI is better in that regard.

Parrish = Moulds Cap Cut After 2005
LancasterSteve replied to Mark VI's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So was I when I mentioned the above scenario to Mark soon after the Bills selected Roscoe Parrish. To tell the truth I didn't pay a heck of a lot of attention to wide-outs (my bad) but picking a WR makes sense when you think of how Tom Donahoe has operated in the past by trying to stay a year ahead for the most part in anticipated personnel decisions. The Bills could no way in hades come close to a Moulds clone drafting in the slot they had; but if you read this kids bio-Parrish was a play-maker. Eight highest rated receiver in Ourlads' with a grade of 8.56 on a tens scale. On TV its hard to tell when a WR isn't getting separation but it was plain to see at RWS. I noticed more than a few occasions where Bledsoe would force the ball in even though Moulds was blanketed. It had seemed to me that Moulds had lost a step. Maybe his hamstring injury nerver fully healed? It has happened before to a very good Bills wide-out- Andre Reed, who never did regain his form after his hammy(?) injury. Older players get hurt easier and more often and at a position like WR were speed is so important loosing a step can mean the end of a career. I don't go ga-ga or however you want to put it, over players anymore. While I love the game of football I can't help but view it more and more as a business. I still admire the players talents while they posses them ever knowing that in the blink of an eye, they too will be gone and a younger, faster player will replace them.
