  1. Absolutely right. I think part of this is the fact that many of the sports writers and football afficianados are upset at Mr. Wilson for rattling the bear cage, but that's no reason to pile on Levy and the new kids. I hope the new draft picks come out and dominate this season, just to shut these guys up. LP and company should try evaluating teams and doing so on some reasonable basis. His argument was flimsy and his defense of TD was obnoxiously uneducated. By the way, if TD was such a great manager, why didn't some other team that fire theirs come to snatch him up? Because as everyone who pays attention to what was going on up in Buffalo knows, he was TERRIBLE and that more than half the players who are still playing in the NFL are sitting on a bench somewhere.
  2. Right on! I own it. Love the movie and love BC. Look for his cameo in the third Spider-Man movie next May. Also, rumor is, they're making a Fourth installment of the Evil Dead series, following up on A of D. Nothing solid yet, but ... one can hope.
  3. While your second paragraph is right, saying that Pasquerelli's position is fair is ludicrous. The Patriots took a shalacking in the offseason, and their best FA signing was Mike Vanderjagt. They had a mediocre draft and yet no one is even thinking about criticizing them. ESPN's writers seem to take the position that, well, NE didn't do so great but hey its NE, what's not to love. Next Super Bowl champs! This article proves what chumps some of these big time guys are. Let's not give them credit when it isn't due.
  4. Thanks. Also keep in mind, he hasn't shown up yet. It is rookie acclimation day. Let's see if he doesn't show up at all. However, this report is both good and bad. He came to the others and as long as he shows up to training camp and does well, the Bills will be fine.
  5. And ajzepp: LOVE THE AVATAR! That's one of my favorite BC movies, behind A of D of course.
  6. When looking at the OL, there are two things you have to remember. In pass blocking, the OTs are using upper body strength and their arms to keep pass rushers at bay. Upper body strength and leverage are the keys to a good pass blocker. Peters, because of his TE training is has good upper body strength and good hand and arm coordination, thus making him a good pass blocker. Run blocking on the other hand is about getting low and driving your opponent away from a certain area. This is about not only getting low, but having really good lower body strength and good footwork. Peters' training as a TE probably did not focus as much on the need for serious lower body strength and blocking footwork. With a new conditioning coach who can help him get his lower body strength up, and a full year with McNally getting his technique up to par, he could be a very good tackle for the Bills in years to come. And that would help. I'd rather not risk another first round pick on an OL after what happened with Mike Williams. GO SABRES!!!!
  7. He was at the other camps, why wouldn't he be at this one? Also, this is a rookie camp and for guys who missed the voluntary sessions. Not a big deal, but I would like to know where this story came from. I haven't seen it on ANY news sites, either large or small, and this would be worth at least a line or two somewhere.
  8. Jeffri Chadiha posted this on SI.com Wednesday talking about the five first round players picked in the draft that are likely to succeed in their new roles. This is the first real article or part of an article I've seen in recent days that seems to have gotten the Bills' choice of McCargo right.
  9. Crowell is a bit small to start on the strong side but he did play well there last year. With Posey aging I think Crowell might get the nod and start this year, at least in the pre-season to see how it goes. Don't worry about Spikes either. If anyone is going to come back 100% from that kind of an injury its him. He's been exceeding expectations every step of the way, and he will be back. GO SABRES!!! GO TKO!!!!!
  10. That is the most cockamemy story that's been written since the draft ended. His story doesn't even make any sense. If people are praising the Bills in two or three years for having a great draft, then Whitner and McCargo weren't reaches, they were SMART PICKS. I'm so sick of sports writers not pointing out that New England or Miami or Indianapolis didn't pick up a whole list of top-tier FAs and great draft picks. Tom Brady was never expected to win three Super Bowls when he came out of college. He was a SIXTH ROUND PICK!! Pasquerelli used to have some respect in my book, but this article is load of BS. And tell me Len, how many of those 32 are actually starting? How many are warming the bench? Look at those numbers and tell me Donahoe was a draft stud.
  11. I think Buffalo can beat Ottawa, but it won't be easy. We won't just be able to skate by a bunch of pillars like we did in the last series. Ottawa has played well against us all season and though we did take the last three from them, I think this will not be easy. On NJ, they are very good. I live in Raleigh and many of my friends are Canes fans. They're not real happy right now. Carolina will probably lose the series, but I think it will take six or seven games. I would just like to point out that if the Sabres and Devils win, the odds are we won't get to the Cup finals. Lv is right. The Sabres haven't beaten NJ on the road in FIVE years. Not since 2001. They'd have four home games we'd have three. There's your series final. But, stranger things have happened. We weren't supposed to go to the finals in 1999 and we weren't supposed to be here either. GO SABRES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. McCargo played all three positions at NC State over the last three years. He was more than strong enough to hold up at the one position. I went to NC State and watched him on Saturdays, live and in person. He's good enough. Six Pack is also right. They ran a system like that at NC State and it was effective enough to send three lineman to the NFL in the first round. We need strength and quickness in this defense, not bulky and slow. With Clements resigning, this defense is simply going to maul opposition. That should help a mediocre offense win a few extra games.
  13. In terms of value and need I thought the draft was very good for Buffalo. The concensus is starting to turn that perhaps Buffalo didn't reach as much for their first round picks as many people initially thought, as a number of teams also wanted the players we picked rather badly. Also, for whatever reach we may have had with our first round picks, Youboty, Simpson and Williams were GREAT values where we drafted them. They are good talents and were rated much higher than we took them in the draft. This draft will be remembered in a couple of years as one that suited the Bills well in terms of need but also in terms of talent.
  14. I find myself agreeing with you on a lot of things over the last couple of days. This was a much better draft than the "Experts" are saying, and the success of the Bills defense for the next four to six years will be the proof. Great Job Marv. If you're half as good a GM as you were a coach the sky is the limit for this team. Go Sabres!!!!
  15. Great post. This is what people should be talking about. I totally agree with this assessment. The Bills have lacked identity over the past few years. They've said they want to be run oriented, but they weren't and that was the big problem with Mularkey. Jauron knows defense and believes that the old adage is true. Defense wins championships, and what we have is a new and nasty defense. They are really going to cause some people trouble throwing the ball, and once we can force a team to try to run against us, the game plan is that much easier.
  16. I went to NC State and watched all of those guys play, live, every Saturday they were at home. McCargo was as good on every play as Williams or Lawson. He played on every part of the line, both tackle and end. He was very good for Chuck Amato for a number of reasons. He's big and very fast, but the thing is he's a smart guy. He makes good plays, but he also knows how to drive plays towards other good players. They would always use him to drive the pocket or the play to the short side of the field and towards either Williams or Lawson. He not only made huge plays in the backfield, but he made his line mates better. He has been well coached and I do NOT agree that this was a reach. Mel Kiper and this other bozo need to look at the facts. The Giants have said they were going to take him at 32. Buffalo knew he wasn't going to get him at 42 and so they gave up a 3 to get the best guy available at the time to fill a huge gap in the defense. Ngata is not as good as he looks. Sure he's big and relatively quick, but if you watch the film, he takes plays off and he's often unable to beat the better centers in the college ranks one on one. He'll be average. In games where Bunkley and McCargo played each other, McCargo actually had better numbers. Saying that McCargo was better because of the line he played on is unfair. Florida State always has a terrific defense and a terrific O-Line. They had two guys go in round one, so that is not a fair statement. McCargo is going to excel for the Bills and in three years, people will think this was the best Draft decision that Marv ever made.
  17. Reyes blocked for Carolina's third string running back and Goings had a great year when Davis and Foster were out. Reyes can block. I live in NC and have to watch the Panters every week. Each and every one of their linemen was better than anyone of ours last year. Reyes is an upgrade, particularly for Mike Williams. Talk about the reach of Bills Draft History. They decided on Thomas instead of Bell. Thomas is a proven back who just hasn't had a place to do much in the league since his two one-thousand yard + seasons with Chicago. He'll be fine and won't get cut.
  18. The offense will win us five or six games. The defense will win us two or three. However, the team will play much more competitively than last season. I think the draft helped a defense that was getting old and struggled last year. Losman will play better and the OL is improved. We also have a good corps of receivers who will be looking to break out. 7-9 to 10-6 with some luck. Go Sabres!!!
  19. JP played well in the last games that he played. KC and Miami were good games for him and he showed he could be good on a number of series during the course of the year. I think Losman is likely to be the guy this year, but making him earn it is the most important thing. The front office handing him the starting job last year was like giving a sixteen year old the keys to the Ferrari and saying, go have fun. The likely result is a wreck. He should have sat behind Bledsoe for another year and learned. Then he would have been better prepared. I think this will be a better team this year if Losman starts and actually has to work for it.
  20. Good pick-ups for a good price. Anything is better than the line we had last year. Fowler is as good or better than Teague, and Reyes is a lot better than Mike Williams ever would have been at the guard spot. They get too years to prove they can cut it and if they don't they're out. Thomas is likely to stay because he is a solid back up RB. Price won't cost us anything to release, because we aren't going to release him. He's due for a turnaround. He didn't play poorly in ATL. Vick would just rather run with the ball than throw it, because he CAN'T throw. I'm surprised ANYONE catches fifty or more passes from him in a season. Price will re-emerge in Buffalo where they need receivers. Stop the hate and give him a chance. Go Sabres!!!
  21. I went to NC State, so I'm a bit biased, but you want to talk about creating mismatches all over the field, Mario Williams did that too. Offensive coordinators had to rewrite playbooks for games against him, and that didn't work. The Wolfpack had the top rated defense three years in a row, under two different coordinators and three different systems. Williams played three positions on the line and he even played the linebacker spot on occasion. Most of you probably haven't ever seen him on TV. NC State doesn't get a lot of TV time outside of North Carolina or ACC country. They put him on RECEIVERS coming out of the slot sometimes, and he covered them. Tight Ends rarely caught passes, because in a lot of situations, Lawson or Williams would drop out of pass rush and cover one of those pass threats. They're that good. And with all of that he still managed fourteen sacks last season, and three of those came against Marcus Vick, who has good speed and ability, like his brother. Williams and Bush are both spectacular, but I don't think this was a botched pick. Ki-Jana Carter was a botched pick. Ryan Leaf, botched pick. Williams is the next Bruce Smith, and sorry, but defense wins championships. The Texans were right to pass, though taking him would have been a really good move to.
  22. Also, if you want to disprove what I said about the Titans going down the field, talk about the Titans offense, not about Tim Couch who played for the Browns. The Titans did throw the ball a lot more than the Browns that year. That's a fact.
  23. Wrong again. First off, if you read my post, you would know I clearly wasn't talking about the 5-11 season. I was talking about the year the Browns last made the playoffs. When you figure out that year and get the stats right, then you can criticize. Trying reading the post. Second, we again have a comparison of two quarterbacks in two totally different circumstances. Simply looking at your comparison shows the absurdity. The Browns SUCKED in 2003, absolutely sucked. There was no one to pass to, and their running back was Willie Green who had no line. Yet, Holcomb managed play well for that horrid team. Volek played for a Titans team that, though 5-11 in 2004, were at least competitive each game, because they had a decent level of talent. Try looking at circumstances when you look at statistics. Furthermore, what was the win loss record during the games the two of them started. You conveniently left that out of your list. I'm guessing Volek didn't have as good a record in the games he was in, and that he was having to throw more because they were behind late in the game. Those stats mean nothing. Volek isn't starting for the Bills or anyone else because he thought he could play for a Titans team that had a good chance of being good. Your just wrong about Volek, and the numbers do lie when you don't look at the context.
  24. Not this time irish. You are absolutely right. McNair is in the twilight of a good career and the millions he would want for one or two seasons aren't worth. The move would be horrible and it wouldn't help. Losman can win us six or seven games this year IMO, and that's all McNair could do. Bad move and a bad idea, as I've already said.
