Another fantastic game. Sabres Miller was UNBELIEVABLE stopping 42 of 43 shots. Go Sabres!!!!

First off, anyone who thinks Kelly is an idiot, clearly is more ignorant than a Coral Gable snail. Kelly ran the offense that lead the Bills through the Glory Years. Every time I've heard him speak he can express exactly what he means and he is actually relatively articulate. Secondly, just because people have a screw-up or two doesn't make them "Bad Character" people. Keep in mind that Marv is after people who want to win, not people who want to make a pay check and give it a half-hearted effort on Sunday. No one on Marv's teams ever did that. I think that has been the problem over the past few years and this new mentality is exactly what the Bills need. People were whining the last couple of years that the Bills lacked an identity and that we had talent but couldn't win. Now that we have a GM and a coach who have brought a new identity to the team, we're criticizing the new identity before these guys have even played a game.

The article on BB.com made it sound like JP was coming along, but there is something else that should be said. If Holcomb is the starter, I would prefer he make boring plays and get first downs/touchdowns and win the game than be flashy and still have us lose. Winning is the goal and I don't care who the quarterback is, or how boring they play. If they get the job done, that's what counts.

Could it be the Bucs are already displeased with
ax4782 replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
WHY IS THIS POST STILL HERE? By the way, if you want to tell people you root for the losers, now you'll have to tell them that you root for the Bills and the Cubs/Tigers. -
As it stands right now, LT is the biggest question mark on this team. I think the QB situation will filter out by the time pre-season is over and that JP will be a much better player by that time. This offense is much more suited to his run and gun style of play and I think he will excel in this system. We don't have a real solid left tackle and that is probably our biggest problem. I agree with Pyrite Girl's extremely thorough analysis of the problem above, however, I do think that we could use a better left guard. Peters is coming into his second season and I think that he will shine at right tackle this season. The rest of the line is upgraded and will be better but I think Gandy is the big question at LT. LB is fine. Spikes is here for five years, Fletcher is not THAT old for a line backer. Look at Derrick Brooks down in Tampa. Posey is slow, but Crowell played well at the OLB spot last season and Haggan is a good back up when he has had to come on the field. This group is solid. The Bills are in pretty good shape IMO for the next three or four seasons.

Ralph is not cheap, I agree. People are getting that impression from his campaign against revenue sharing. Ralph's right on that too. Think about it. Dan Snyder and Jerry Jones wouldn't agree to anything if their wallets weren't going to be increased in the process. Small market teams were going to get schalacked if the deal went through as they planned and Ralph, who loves the Bills and Buffalo, was worried that his team wouldn't be viable in the "New NFL." His concerns were legit and he isn't cheap. Kelly, Reed, Smith, Thomas, Bennett, Lofton...those guys weren't cheap to keep around at any point in their careers. Ralph is a fair guy who loves the game. People should get off his back.

TKO looks good physically!
ax4782 replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is the best possible news about the situation as of now. Having Spikes back on the field is going to be a huge boost to this new young defense. I hope he can perform at the level we're used to seeing from him and I hope that his attitude towards the game and his commitment to the Buffalo Bills rubs off on some of the new guys, and on Nate. He could use a little dose of "team player' when he's thinking about signing his new deal. -
I wouldn't start basing our line-up on this one camp. This is just to get the Rooks acclimated to the system. Jauron said himself that he wanted to get them a chance to see what the speed of the game was like and to see how the starters were performing in the new system. This doesn't mean anything, though I do think that Reyes WOULD be better than Bennie, IMO.

The first part of this statement is correct, however, your notion that McGahee does not have good moves is simply wrong. He has been forced to be an up and down runner based on the stupid offense that MM had implimented. When he was playing for Miami, he had moves that were reminiscent of what Reggie Bush was doing at USC. Did you actually watch any of his games? He was amazing to watch and it was unfortunate that he was injured. He's going to be able to show off a lot more of his talents this year than he has been able to in the past.
-
I want to know how this McGahee had a bad year thing got started. Why did he have a bad year? He rushed for 1,200 yards and was fifth in the league even with a below-average offensive line. He didn't have a lot of touchdowns, but that's partly because MM and TC took him out of the game in EVERY third down situation, including third and goal at the one. He would have had a lot more TDs if he had been in on those situations. I'm not saying that McGahee is the best total player on the team, but he is not the worst. He does seem to genuinely care about the team when he speaks at press conferences. He has come to some of the voluntary camps this year, just not this one. I think it is too soon to see if he is going to be the next TO when it comes to contract extensions, but I don't think he will. Its his agent I worry about. Anyway, let's cut him some slack until the season starts. If he has a good year, no one will remember this. If he doesn't have a good season, we'll point to his failure to get in here and learn the offense. Either way, I don't think he has a bad attitude, but I think that he could be a bit more TEAM oriented at times.

Keyshawn does not have a ring. He played with the Jets and left the Bucs before they went to the Super Bowl. I forget where he went, but after that he went to Dallas. No ring for any of them.
-
When Marv was coach of the Bills, those were the same type of players that Levy and Polian drafted. It took five years from the time Marv took over to get the Bills to the Super Bowl. I trust Marv, until he gives me a reason not too. So far, he's made very good decisions and has addressed the needs of the team with high talent, high energy players. And by the way, Terrell and Keyshawn might be a couple of pains in the butt, but if you ever actually listen to them talk, they're far from stupid. They know the game and make big plays. Just because they're selfish doesn't mean they don't know the game.
-
Miller is the guy. Biron is there if Miller screws up royally or gets injured, and I think almost no one would be terrified if Biron had to play, but pulling Miller now would destroy his confidence. If you pull Miller now, you don't put him in again for the rest of the playoffs. Ruff has made great decisions all season long in handling the goalie situation and he'll make the right call now. Miller should stay in and the defense needs to tighten up. Ottawa will make adjustments, and we need to beat them playing our game. We can't run and gun with them every game. One or two gifts from the hockey gods will happen, but not every game. GO SABRES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't like the Clements signing
ax4782 replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is another consideration here that many have missed because it is part of the new rules. The Bills and Clements must be close to a long term deal or are not even discussing one for the following reason. If the Bills don't sign him to a long term contract until after July 15, Clements keeps the Franchise Tag until the end of his new contract: no matter the duration of that contract. That means that the Bills are not able to tag anyone else. The fact that the Bills promised not to tag him next year suggests that there is going to be a deal before the 15th of July, or there is no deal. I'm going with the idea that they are trying to work out a long term deal, but I don't think they should give him more per season than what he is getting next year. No CB is worth that, even if their name is Champ Bailey. -
I'm still in shock from such an incredible game! I think that there was no way it was just one element of the three you included. Any Pro Athlete will tell you that no matter how much skill you have and how hard you try to make something happen, sometimes you need luck. The Hockey Gods smiled on Connolly and the Sabres tonight. They played like a team that was destined to win (knocking on wood). All they have to do now is hold serve at home and Carolina/NJ here we come. That was a beautiful goal in a game that should be on ESPN Classic. What a game. GO SABRES!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you are too, though I agree with a lot that is in your quote. Willis does have a jerk agent. If you don't think so, his agent is the same guy who represents T.O. I need say nothing more. Willis does take plays off, but I think that was because he didn't respect Mularkey or Clements and felt that he was under utilized in a sputtering offense last year. He has two years to improve. If he plays very well, the Bills will re-sign him to the very large contract that he would deserve. If not, then there will be plenty of talented players in the draft or in FA that would be worth getting and they'll make sure the door hits him in the ass on the way out. I do think that making decisions about a guy's attendance at a VOLUNTARY camps is getting a bit ahead of the game. Still, let's see how things go. He'll either be a benefit to a struggling offense, or his lack of performance will drag us further into the depths of the Tidy Bowl.

Sabres need to hold home ice. I don't have OLN or CBC where I live so I had to listen to the game on the radio. Even not being able to watch, I think the only game I've ever seen or heard that could compare was the Bills comback against Houston in the Wild Card back in the early 90's. Sabres can take the series if they can win at home. What a game!!!! GO SABRES!!!!!!
-
I don't think I've heard Rick Jeanerette sound that happy ever before, even when the Sabres made it to the cup. This was a hell of a game and it's going to be a hell of a series. Hopefully Buffalo can hold serve and home and put this thing away in six.
-
Drury scores 18 seconds into overtime to give the Sabres the 1-0 lead in the series following a 7-6 victory. What a game!!! GO SABRES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I respectfully dissent. I think the Bills will give him a large contract, for better or worse, and he'll still be a Bill. After the huge draft crop of CBs taken this year, there isn't a team who is going to be willing to pay him the kind of money next year that he wants. He'll take the Bills' offer, as long as it is over 6.3 million per year with achievable bonuses based on performance. If they don't offer him that kind of money (and his performance last year suggests they would perhaps be smart not too) then he will be gone. Also everything that Marv and Jauron say about him and the ability he has and how important he is to the team leads me to believe they are going to do everything they can to keep him. He'll sign and be a Bill for quite some time.
-
He came to the first camp and stayed for the whole time. He came to the second and left for personal reasons. He was not there today, but we should wait and see if he shows for the rest of this one. I don't think he will, but at least he came to one. That's more than last year. His statements were likely handed to him from his agent Drew Rosehaus, the same guy who panders for T.O. I think he might be part of the problem here too.
-
The pass rush will improve and I too am glad to hear these comments made by Whitner. Based on his work ethic and statements he is the type of quality player that the Bills need on defense. The pass rush will be better and I have a feeling the secondary is going to be a big part of this younger, faster and BETTER defense. Marv did a great job in this draft and I think we'll see the results as the season goes along.

Len P piles on the Donahoe clusterf-
ax4782 replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The problem is that LP wasn't saying that we suck. He's saying that Donahoe was doing a great job and that Buffalo, essentially, ran him off unfairly and that he was blamed when it wasn't his fault. It's easy for people to criticize, that is true. However, let me suggest that these opinions of the so called experts saying we're going to suck, before we've played a game, is unwarranted. For them to say that our draft picks were a reach before they have played a game or been to camp is unwarranted. They know far less than the men who made the decisions in the draft room. Lastly, I don't see the sports writers coming out and saying they were wrong when they say a team is going to suck and the team does well. They say, "oh, what a shock; they were supposed to suck." That's ass covering to the extreme, so before we get all kissy kissy about who doesn't take accountability for what they say in the media or on this site, lets take a look at both sides. GO SABRES!!!! -
Not All Sportswriters are Getting Bills Wrong
ax4782 replied to ax4782's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think both of those are good points. McCargo was rated up there with the two best and played better than Bunkley in FSU-NCSU games all three years, and McCargo is a character guy. He was never in trouble in school and I never saw his name in the Raleigh paper for anything more than the plays he made. McCargo has both the talent and the character to be a great player. I just wish more of the writers would focus on that than taking another chance to criticize the Bills Organization. -
Looks like the Dolphins have thrown the character issue to the winds in a hope that anger managment classes and training camp can get them a championship. Vick is a serious problem. Just ask VT. Turley had some issues in the NFL and look at Ricky. Hope all this "trouble" gives the Dolphins fits next year and takes all their free agent money to the bottom of the toilet bowl along with their record.
