The majority owner of Miami, Huizenga, is looking to sell all/part of the team. He is set to make a bunch of money through capital gains. As it tentively stands now, Obama is looking to take a large chunk of those capital gains if he gains them after January 1st, 2009. This is why these owners are best to sell before Jan 09, or lose millions of dollars in taxes. The same goes for players. As you can see, baseball players are signing up now, so they won't have to cough up more of their signing bonuses later.
