  1. if he loses, he's a rapist. if he wins, he's found redemption.
  2. being cautiously optimistic isn't the same thing as focusing on the negative.
  3. because the chiefs only beat one winning team last season? i hope this team is as great as they looked today. still, given their history, i think it's fair to see how the bills match up against the class of the division first.
  4. god help us if thigpen is actually on the field sunday.
  5. these "buffalo savior" articles always get me a little misty-eyed. i enjoyed it, but think this one did it better: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1104283/index.htm
  6. this should be fun: http://twitter.com/#!/TBNSully enjoy!
  7. does that mean you expect them to go 8-8 this season or the next?
  8. so, you agree unless you don't agree? who are the 9-10 players who fit this scheme? yes, i think that a good coach should employ a "system" that best fits the abilities of his players. not a crazy concept.
  9. point taken. i gave him far too much credit.
  10. i think he was also instrumental in getting rid of those hideous uniforms the bills have worn the past several years. give him props and be grateful, please.
  11. huh? my point was simply that it's sad we have to celebrate signing good players to extensions because it's so rare. you don't think that's a low bar to clear? i'm glad that they extended williams. i guess i'm glad that it was at a decent price (since it wasn't my money). i'm glad that it was for several years. but isn't this the bare minimum we should expect? i'll hold off on the cartwheels until this team actually starts winning. that doesn't make me a hater.
  12. exactly. the cup seems a reasonable, almost expected goal. the super bowl seems an impossible dream. this speaks to my views on ownership. one seems willing to do anything to win. the other...eh...
  13. shouldn't the "system" be designed around the abilities of the team's top performers? i think we get too mired down in "systems." a good football player is a good football player. a good coach should create "systems" that best employ the talents of their top players. it's clear that the front office thought lee's abilities weren't up to snuff. if he sucks, then they were right. if not, it's on them. we won't know who was right until january. or, if lee lights it up, maybe september.
  14. i have to respectfully disagree. if anything, buffalo fans have proven to be overly patient. we've tolerated over a decade of mismanagement yet continue to support the team. it's the endless rebuilding rhetoric that i can't tolerate. we've waited seemingly forever for this team to improve. i don't expect them to turn it around overnight, but that's been the excuse for years. at some point, the team actually has to start getting better. i understand your point about waiting until november and think it's fair. we have to see how the season plays out. but what is a satisfactory result at the end of this season? 3 wins? 5? 8? what does it say about us as fans and the team we love that a 6 win season is likely considered a success? i hope that buddy was right with the evans move. if, however, wr becomes yet another "need" on the team going into next year's draft, then he deserves to be skewered again.
  15. morale is low at my workplace, too. this is the time of year when my co-workers start belittling and laughing at me for being a bills fan. even worse is when they just give you a sad look and you become an object of their pity.
  16. this needs to be on a bumper sticker.
  17. it makes me sad that we have to congratulate a guy for giving extensions to players who deserve them. i feel that the vitriol that both you and i feel towards him is warranted given the past, however. i hope and pray that this is the first in a series of intelligent moves that propel the organization forward. the burden of proof is on the bills now.
  18. i'm devoted to my wife, yet i can still recognize her flaws. she's devoted to me, yet she can still recognize my flaws. you don't think fans should be critical of their teams or be disappointed when they don't meet expectations?
  19. so "real" fans just blindly accept every move the organization makes and everyone else should be exiled? i don't understand how "negative" posters are somehow lesser fans. all of us are devoted to the bills or else we wouldn't be here. all of us want them to do well and succeed. that doesn't mean that they're beyond reproach, especially given their recent history.
  20. exactly. why have blind faith in an organization as consistently incompetent and dysfunctional as the bills? being a fan doesn't mean you should burrow your head in the sand. the bills have failed miserably year after year after year. it's only logical to wait for evidence to the contrary before proclaiming them a changed team. fool me once, shame on me. fool me twice, we won't get fooled again.
