Bills bringing in a kicker this week.
Albany,n.y. replied to Mile High's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The clock is ticking fast. Once Lindell plays, he's guaranteed $825,000 for the year. They better move if they want France because Baltimore & Tennessee are interested in him & Tennessee has some bum as their kicker. I don't know what's up with Baltimore wanting to bring France in for a tryout. Here's Tennessee's kicker Rob Bironas: http://www.titansonline.com/team/players/bio.php?PRKey=295 -
I guess if you went to Gillette Stadium with a Video player & a tape of last year's Patriots at Dolphins game, you could see the Patriots get upset.

Texans | Carr Looking to Rebound Mon, 5 Sep 2005 14:38:32 -0700 Megan Manfull, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans QB David Carr looked sharp in practice Monday, Sept. 5. He had a horrible preseason finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, posting a 0.0 passer rating. A lot of QBs looked like s**t in preseason. Maybe these young QBs (and some old ones too) really do need a complete gameplan instead of the do nothing to let the opponents see on film game plans of exhibition games. Roethlisberger, Pennington, and even Brett Favre had some rough outings this preseason.

The more playing time Flutie gets means the Pats are a weaker team. I hope Flutie starts 15 games.

We should win by 7, but Lindell will miss a FG and we'll only win by 4. Houston covers & all Bills' fans who bet will want to string up Lindell.

http://tiadaily.com/php-bin/news/showArticle.php?id=1026 I haven't seen this angle discussed so bluntly. I think the right wil like this better than the left.

Tryout? If he has 2 legs and can walk, he's better than Lindell

Explain why the belief that there is no hell is a foolish/dangerous way to go through life. Many religions don't believe in hell. As far as I know, there is no hell in Judiasm. Are you so f'd up that you can say Judiasm is a foolish/dangerous way to go through life?

Like him or hate him, Belichick was always the same guy. Every year Gregg was here he was a different guy. In reality, we had 3 coaches. Gregg the disciplinarian, Gregg the average coach, Gregg Mr. Nice Guy. How can the guy be a successful head coach when he doesn't have an established personality. If Gregg wants to be a successful head coach he's not going to be unless he learned a lot from his mistakes in Buffalo. I don't see where he's learned to manage a game on gameday since he's been fired. He might have learned not to hire Ronnie Vinklarek or Pat Ruhl as his OL coach. Then again, he might have been introduced to Ronnie Jones in the past 2 years.

7 WR's, 3 DE's and Jerman backs up MW?
Albany,n.y. replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Reed can drop passes, why can't he drop some QBs? Relax. We can move either a LB (Posey) or DT (Bannan, Sape) there if needed. Plus, one or both of the DEs (Ritzmann, Gause) will be on the practice squad. -
Yep, Wilson was class of 2004 & was in Detroit's camp. He was on the Bills practice squad last year from 10/18/04 through the rest of the season.
-
Jared Lorenzen, the 300 lb QB made the Giants as the 3rd stringer.
-
Todd France had a very good camp/preseason with the Tampa Bay Bucs TD-claim this guy off waivers & dump Lindell. France has knocked around camps before just missing. Last year he was with the Giants & made it past the 53 cut but was cut before the season when Coughlin wanted a more experienced kicker & signed Christie. France is an improvement on Lindell. (Merged thread, not my title)

I guess Tucker never fully recovered.

Dolphins | Feeley Slides to No. 3 Sat, 3 Sep 2005 12:22:19 -0700 Greg Bedard, of the Palm Beach Post, reports Miami Dolphins QB A.J. Feeley has fallen to be the team's third quarterback on the depth chart, according to a source. Feeley could be waived by the end of the day if the team can't trade him. Feeley is due to make the minimum salary, $540,000 this season, but $3.5 million next season. Dolphins | Rosenfels Moves Up to No. 2 QB Sat, 3 Sep 2005 12:28:49 -0700 Greg Bedard, of the Palm Beach Post, reports Miami Dolphins QB Sage Rosenfels has moved up the depth chart and he is now the team's No. 2 quarterback, according to a source. Dolphins | Frerotte Will be the Starter Sat, 3 Sep 2005 12:21:53 -0700 Greg Bedard, of the Palm Beach Post, reports Miami Dolphins QB Gus Frerotte will be the team's starting quarterback for week one of the regular season. Frerotte worked exclusively with the first team during practice Saturday, Sept. 3.

Richardson has to be the surest of cuts. The reason I think Gause & Ritzmann both make it is because Bannan can be used as a G so they can afford keeping Bannan for 2 positions & cutting an extra olineman rather than having to cut either Gause or Ritzmann.

How long do we have to put up with
Albany,n.y. replied to Anon Y. Mous's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he makes it to opening day, we're stuck with him all season. Here are some rules I cut & pasted: Veterans with four years of experience on the roster for the first game are guaranteed their salary for the rest of the season. It's a benefit that players are eligible for just once in their careers. If signed after the first contest, a veteran is entitled to the initial 25 percent of his salary if released, according to an NFL team's salary cap consultant. After the eighth game, the termination pay is one week's salary, up to $20,000. Those factors make it harder for a club with injury problems to pick up a veteran as a short-term fill-in. This is why we must cut Lindell before opening day to realize any savings. Once we keep him & his foot touches a ball on 9/11 he's ours for the season. I still believe he's too overpriced to be here on opening day, but if he is you'll be right about the rest. -

It all depends on the leg strength of the FG kicker. If he kicks short, I wouldn't be surprised if we switch to Moorman for KO's. That would depend on whether Moorman tells them that it took too much out of him when he did KOs in 2001. If it did, then we could cut one of the last to make it guys & get a KO specialist. Obviously the on side kick game has to start over-but hopefully we won't feel the need to do one for a few weeks. -

More kickoffs & less opponent takes the ball at the spot of the missed kick. -

Here's my guess: There are a lot of teams looking for kickers. TD will trade a 6th or 7th & acquire the loser of one of the stronger battles. (Example-Todd France) There is going to be too much competition for the few good available kickers out there to try signing one as a FA. I still don't believe Lindell will be there when we open next Sunday. For his ability, he carries too high a cap # & were not keeping him long enough to have his salary guaranteed for the year. -
Here is my guess: Lawrence (Who) Richardson Lauvale Sape Joe Burns Liam Ezekiel Wendell Hunter Jasen Esposito Justin Geisinger Dylan McFarland Kevin Thompson Jim Leonhard Brad Cieslak Rod Trafford George Wilson JOSH REED ... and later next week RIAN LINDELL

The JP supporters (myself included) are answering the Holcomb supporters with just about the same lines we used to support Rob Johnson over Doug Flutie. It's getting scary. If JP flounders, were going to have to get a separate Holcomb v Losman board like the old Johnson/Flutie board. Please JP, play well, I can't take another QB controversy for the next 3 years.

Never heard of the guy. Does his tirade mean he won't make the Saints 53 man roster? I'm amazed at the attitude of some "celebrities". Just about every celebrity is an unknown to at least 90% of the world's population.

I found this on an old Packer board: September 1992 Brett Favre needs another year on the bench and this team needs Don Majkowski to start the entire season. I feel bad for the defense and other vetrans on this team if Brett Favre starts this season. Favre has shown nothing this whole preseason to tell me he's ready for the starting job. ZERO! Don Majkowski is the better choice at QB for Green Bay at this point in time. Favre is still very very raw. Stick that in your pipes and smoke it.

Some hypotheticals JP/Holcomb
Albany,n.y. replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Holcomb was injured and didn't play in last year's game at the Ralph. Luke McCown played most of the game, coming out briefly for Jeff Garcia who got injured in 1 series, forcing McCown back into the game. Holcomb finally returned for Cleveland's final game & they beat Houston.
