It’s easy to point out stupid inconsistencies in the response to an event as massive as a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic. Nothing in life is perfect and many choose to make perfect the enemy of the good. What none of the critics on covid control measures offer is any better solution to protect public health. I guess this is to be expected though since they offer no solutions to any other problems.

Are you suggesting that there is nothing at all effective at reducing the possibility of contracting and transmitting a communicable disease? Are you suggesting that the best medical people in the world are all in a mass vaccination conspiracy with Bill Gates to turn us into cyborgs so the government can track our movements? To beat the dead horse some more… If masks are not effective, please go work in a hospital Covid unit without one. Did your mother ever teach you to wash your hands? The vax reduces disease severity. Less virus in you likely means less chance to spread virus. So what’s your bright idea to protect people?

The politicization of Covid control measures is one of the stupidest things ever. Covid doesn’t care what party you belong to. And whatever happened to young and healthy people caring for their elders or the weaker people in society. Isn’t that a conservative family value? Covid protocols are nothing compared to the sacrifices older generations made.

This is a stupid juvenile take on masking. If someone chooses to mask up its none of your damn business. You don’t know what health factors people are dealing with that would cause them to choose to mask. Healthy people may have high risk people in their family or they may just want to try to stay uninflected due to work or family responsibilities.

I’m don’t have much opinion on alot of this stuff but inmates seeking sex change is whacked. Most are probably scammers.

An astonishing number of people or groups have wrecked their lives after drinking the Trump koolaide. Many associates sent to prison, many believing followers sent to prison, lost jobs, fractured relationships, many dead, a $787 million dollar judgement against Fox, etc…. There probably isn’t another person in America who has as much negative impact on their associates or followers.

More lives wrecked due to the words and actions of Trump. ETTD.

Weak. Most Dems would love to vote for an option other than old Joe but Joe is the only choice we got. Biden is about the least radical choice there is in the Democratic Party. Democratic Party is also not a cult, following one person with flags, hats and shirts.

The unspoken story is that many, many republicans are tired of defending him and will be thrilled when he is either locked up or dead. They are all cowards, too timid to voice their opposition to Trump, and too afraid to leave the cult.

Given the current limited choices… Probably will vote Biden but wish there were a younger Dem option I would seriously consider Christie, Haley or Scott - I think they are all capable, sane Republicans but would need to learn more about their positions on issues. I also doubt they can turn the direction of the party away from Trumpism. Will never vote Trump, Desantis, swampy Swamy or RFK jr. They are all insane.

So true. The best cure to bigotry is to travel to another culture. The most bigoted people I have met have never traveled outside the USA and rarely even go to cities. Travel forces you to understand that people from different cultures are more the same to us than different. It also makes you dependent on people of other cultures for survival. The world is full of helpful happy people in many other countries.

On social media I heard power poles were down, possibly blocking roads. Not sure how accurate that is though. Overall it sounds like a lack of money spent on fire prevention and mitigation. Utility pole replacement when strength is compromised, grass and fuel management, building codes, and emergency planning, upgrading water systems, alarms, etc. Maintenance and prevention all takes money that some communities or corporations may not want to spend. A similar fire happened in 2014 with residents warning of the existing danger so this one wasn’t an unknown hazard.
