FWIW, I thought Locker would never be able to lead a WR in the NFL and I have to say the he looked improved in that regard when I watched him the other night. I understand you point, you'll believe when you see it, but it just might happen, you never know.
I think you misremember the play. It was a slant where the DB grabbed his facemask and the LB (Shazier) jumped and put a knee right in Sammy's lower side, it was a bang bang play so it didn't seem like a big hit but, as it turned out, it was a very precise hit.
He's un-clutch at times but he can consistently move an offense. He's a veteran and can possibly pick the offense rather quickly. He's obviously better than Tuel and Palmer, we just have to see in what condition (physically speaking) he is.
EJ should start and if he doesn't do well we can rely on the veteran, hopefully he's needed at some point in the future and not in the short term.

I don't really have a favorite team in the college ranks, I remember watching him and a couple other QBs that year and I thought he had an amazing arm. I remember one bowl game where his WRs dropped a couple of important passes that could have changed the outcome of the game. I guess you're not his biggest fan
I enjoyed watching him in his last year at Arkansas. The guy has a cannon for an arm and can stretch the field, I think he would be a good fit for the style of offense Marrone likes to run.
This, maybe the pressure got the best of him and he couldn't rise to the top. He actually got worse than last year and that is remarkable, it's like he lost the playbook in the summer and lost every bit of confidence he showed last year.
