Thurs Practice Injury Report - Headache?
HereComesTheReignAgain replied to ColdBlueNorth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your "migraines" must not have been as bad as what most people experience. Questioning someone's toughness for not being able to work while suffering from a migraine makes you look like a real jackass. I gaurantee you would not "suck it up" and go to work if you had a migraine similair to the ones that I and some of the other posters have experienced. -
Thurs Practice Injury Report - Headache?
HereComesTheReignAgain replied to ColdBlueNorth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Many people cannot function when they get a migraine (myself included). I can't see for a half hour prior to the migraine due to the aura effect that is kind of like a big blob of tv static. It is extremely painfull and can cause hypersensitivity to light and sound. I've even had times when it caused my arm or leg to go numb. (thought I was having a stroke) You have obviously never had one. -

And the fact that you are cool with someone acting like an ass to a cop that is innitially being very professional, resisting arrest, deciding that they should be able to get in their car and leave after being told thay are under arrest and collecting $40,000 of taxpayer money says all I need to know about you. -

Uh-Oh, no more electricity.
HereComesTheReignAgain replied to HereComesTheReignAgain's topic in Off the Wall Archives
That is some serious preparation! It would be great to live off the grid, but from the little bit I have seen about it, the cost is outrageous to get started and you need to make some pretty big lifestyle changes to survive with the amount of electricity you can realistically produce. It would be nice to get a utility bill that read $0 though! -

I have read a couple good survival books. Les Stroud (Survivorman) wrote an interesting survival book. http://www.amazon.com/Survive-Essential-Sk...e/dp/0061373516 -

The Neanderthal vs modern man topic got me thinking...Could the average person today survive without electricity, clean tap water and the local Wegmans? I try to be prepared for a disaster, but certainly don't have a bunker and tinfoil hat ready to go. How long before panick and mass looting takes place? How long until people start starving or dying from drinking unclean water? I have a generator, portable water filter, a small supply of canned or dehydrated food, guns for hunting and/or protection and a little bit of hunting and outdoor experience. Along with all the cold weather gear and camping supplies, I would probably have a decent chance of surviving a while. I know most of my friends wouldn't have a clue how to kill and prepare wild game or search out edible plants and once their lighters ran out of fuel, starting a fire to boil water would become nearly impossible. Most people probably don't think we will ever have to worry about things like this, but how far fetched is a huge power outage? Weren't some people without power for weeks after the big snowstorm in Buffalo a couple years ago? With the success of shows like Survivorman, Man Vs Wild, and The Colony, it seems like people are a little more interested in being prepared.

I agree that modern man is certainly not inferior overall compared to a Neanderthal, but most people would never be able to survive without modern conveniences let alone find their own food. If the electricity went out in this country for a month we would see huge amounts of deaths and people woud be starving. Most people think I am nuts when I talk about preparing for an emergency that would require me to live without a food store, clean tap water, or electricity. -

Looks like she got a $40,000 settlement. Moral to this story...Disrespect and disobey the cops long enough to force them to physically arrest you and wait for the taxpayer cash to roll in. Of course it helps if you can pull the "little old lady" card when your horrible behavior gets you in trouble. -

Those of you who feel insurance companies should be forced to accept everyone regardless of pre-existing conditions should start an insurance company that accepts people with pre-existing conditions. See how long before you are in debt up to your ears and out of business. Does anyone understand that insurance is a business not a charity? They cannot pay for the care of their clients who get sick AFTER purchasing a policy if they are forced to accept every client that wals in the door. If you feel that people with pre-existing conditions should receive free health care, that's fine. By directing your anger at a business that has to make money to provide service to the millions of clients it serves, you are showing your lack of understanding of the concept of insurance. I also see two different issues being discussed. Dropping people from coverage who get sick is entirely different than refusing to accept new customers that are already sick. There are many issues that need to be fixed in the health car industry, but forcing insurance companies to lose money is not the way to solve the problem. I must give the government credit though, they have come up with a perfect strategy to take over the healthcare industry by convincing the ignorant masses that the enemy is the "greedy" insurance company.

I wonder if Whoopie would consent to being "not rape raped" (drugged and sodomized) in order to prove her point that he doesn't deserve to be prosecuted. The only problem would be finding a blind, deaf, incredibly desperate man to agree to the experiment. -
I do not have any problem at all with Owens not talking to the media. As a matter of fact I prefer it. Don't pretend to defend my "right as a paying fan" to hear Owens speak. Tony Dungy lost what little bit of credibility he had when he defended Michael Vick. Maybe if Owens tortured and killed a puppy on the podium Dungy would be more supportive.

Protect the insurance companies PSA
HereComesTheReignAgain replied to justnzane's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I've had my health insurance licenses for ten years and have sold small group and individual insurance in almost every state. I work with people who have lost their jobs and need to find individual coverage or sign up for COBRA. Where did you do all your research? Blaming the evil insurance company CEOs for making too much profit (that's their job by the way) is not going to solve anything. Until people demand the best service at the lowest costs from their health care providers, and in turn their insurance companies, the insurance companies will simply charge whatever is necessary to cover those inflated costs. It's obviously not the only change necessary, but it makes a hell of a lot more sense than trying to churn up anger at companies that make too much money. Here's a newsflash, they are not going to stop maximizing profits and when they cannot make a profit they will stop providing the service. (probably what the government is shooting for anyway) I guess the politicians figure that it worked with the oil companies, why not try it again. -

Huh? Just keep blaming everyone else and play the victim card whenever possible. I noticed you didn't bother to answer my question though. -

And when you use that brilliant logic a few times a month you have wasted enough money on luxuries to pay for health insurance. Here is a question for the outspoken advocates of healthcare reform. Last time you went to the doctor or had a non-emergency procedure performed, did you research the cost and success rates of the available doctors and hospitals? Did you make sure that you were being charged the correct amount and using the most economical option available? Or did you simply pay your co-pay and turn a blind eye to the costs since it didn't affect your bottom line at the time? Maybe if more people held hospitals accountable at the time of service we wouldn't see such abuse in billing. Maybe you are a huge part of the problem and need to take responsibility for some of the messed up system we have today. People spend more time and effort researching a major appliance purchase than knee surgery. -

I wonder how many people who "can't afford" health insurance have wasted $10 on a movie, $15 for soda & popcorn or $100 a month on cable to support these great humanatarians and their modest lifestyles? *I know this is just supposed to be a funny skit, but I get sick of the ridiculous hypocrisy of celebrities. -
