  1. Apparently you missed the reports that came out today that they won't tag him
  2. Any examples of a team willing to pay a safety 10 mil a year and give up a pick to do so? That list is small I still think they should tag him if for nothing else to keep their options open because we all know he won't sign the tag until he absolutely has to
  3. I was referring to Byrd declining the deal I completely agree that they should still tag him no matter what
  4. No it wouldn't and whatever they do get wouldn't be until next year anyway and would also depend on who Bills sign in free agency
  5. The reports are be would be one of the highest paid safeties...how is that not top dollar? Amazing how fans can still blame the Bills here and not Byrd
  6. I was concerned that's what would happen
  7. I agree with this since we know Byrd wouldn't sign the tag right away so why not tag him and at worst extend the chance of trading him I believe once tagged the amount counts against the cap regardless of it is signed but Bills have plenty of space so that's not an issue
  8. I personally think it would be Searcy at SS who could excel in Swartz's system as from what I remember plays his SS closer to the line which is basically how Searcy has been used Leonard is not a SS
  9. I agree. Neither is a number 1 so why overpay for them?
  10. Maybe now fans will start assigning blame to where it belongs and that's with Byrd and Parker
  11. My top two choices from the start have been Robinson and Watkins. Unfortunately I don't see either being there at 9 I like Niklaus but think they would have to take him in the second if they want him
  12. Rice seems to always be injured and has really only had one good year He is also coming off an ACL injury
  13. I thought he was injured for part of last season but looks like he played in all 16 games It was a mistake to trade up for him obviously but guess they were afraid the Eagles were going to take him at 4 The Dolphins should have just cleaned house and started over this year instead of going through another year of Philbin prolonging the inevitable
  14. I also think adding an every down DE is a big need for this team Branch played there last year after Carrington got hurt but I think he is better suited in a rotation at DT with Kyle and Dareus rather then playing DE. I actually think Branch should start with Dareus and rotate Kyle in as more of a pass rusher but a lot of ppl on here will disagree with that
  15. I think the Browns end up going defense with their first pick and end up taking a QB with their second pick
  16. I havent seen enough of him to say he is good in coverage but i know he is a good pass rusher and IMO might be wasted as an OLB in a 4-3 the Bills def need another OLB so if thats he best position great
  17. 4-3 OLBs generally cover more then they pass rush and isnt he best at rushing the passer? I think you guys missed my point. I was not calling him a situational pass rusher, simply stating if he doesnt fit at 4-3 OLB or 4-3 DE where would he play?
  18. It all depends on what position they think he can excel at in the NFL. I actually think it would be a waste to play him at OLB in a 4-3 but I also don't think he is a 4-3 DE so where would they play him? You don't take a situational pass rusher with the 9th pick Edit: for the record i was not calling Mack a situational pass rusher, simply stating that i think it would be a waste to draft him if he doesnt have an every down position in a 4-3 defense
  19. Third round is prob where he should go but bc he is a QB he will go higher maybe even in first round but not top ten If Tom Donahoe were still a GM he would take him for the hype alone
  20. Seattle can't extend Wilson until next offseason so I don't see how this has anything to do with him Cutting Bryant is more about trying to resign Bennett then anything else
  21. Have to disagree as you don't pass on a player because you are worried about paying him 5 years down the line. A lot of things can happen in those 5 years. You would hope Glenn will still be around but Wood may not and if he is doubt he will command another big contract at that time
  22. I didn't realize they used the cap as an excuse for not signing him last year There are two parties involved in the negotiation that need to come to an agreement on a contract. And correct me if I'm wrong Byrd did play for the Bills last year right? And by all accounts will at worst be franchised and play for the Bills again this season
  23. Not sure what you mean, are you referring to being able to sign him to an extension after his rookie deal which would be 5 years down the line? Anything Hairston provides will be a bonus but they can't count on him being anything more then a backup at this point
  24. It can depend on the system as a cover 2 defense tends to play both safety's back in coverage making them more interchangable Other more aggressive defenses tend to play their SS's closer to the line of scrimmage in a more run support role with the FS in pass coverage. Thats how I differentiate the safety positions anyway and believe thats how Swartz will play his safety's considering his background under Fisher who played and coached under Buddy Ryan. If the Bills did move on from Byrd I could see them moving Williams to FS and starting Searcy at SS as he could excel in a system that plays its SS closer to the line
  25. Hairston is at best a backup and Pears is most likely on the way out so I fully expect the Bills to draft a tackle early in this draft
