  1. Or McCain's economic plan, better known as Bush McSame's trickle down economic theory.
  2. Interesting, but will Palin dump her church or its controversial beliefs, doubt it, the GOP is just going to try and avoid the issue and it is up to the Dems to make it a Reverand "Right" issue. Problem is, I doubt the Pentacostal church. Wonder how many dems are now video taping the sermons there. If they aren't they should be. Politics and religion often mix and it is fair game, although uncomfortable to many who believe it should not be brought up. Problem is there is double standards on both sides and no one will emerge unscathed.
  3. Pure entertainment though and as many have said the same about Fox. I watch both to see both the funny and infuriating side of politics and am disappointed. Partisanship is good, it hones arguments, keeps politicians on their toes and provides wonderful surreal entertainment that you can't make up. Regardless of the veracity of the flag thing and my point of view, the whole incident is very entertaining.
  4. Yes that would have to be a strong consideration. Even if that irrelevant statement of VABills were true. It would depend on Congress and his/her vp and the make up or attitude of Congressional politics at the time.
  5. Nuts, I was just beginning to enjoy having a counter balance to Fux Ewes. Now I have to go back to watching the comedy channel. Darn, just when it was getting interesting. NBC lost the GOP a long time ago, now they have lost the Dems too.
  6. That is what I believe. My other question is if additional revenue does come in, will it be used to reduce the deficit or for more spending? I am not talking about reorganizing current spending or giving unnecessary tax breaks that increases the deficit even more.
  7. The problem with the analogy is usually an enforcer doesn't know how to score except on rare occasions. Instigators often do. Not clear, Palin knows how to score, but she can throw and elbow when the ref isn't looking. Now that everyone is, she is liable to get caught, and to carry the analogy further receive a double minor or a major, could even get kicked out. The real question is, does it throw the Ds off their game? It may have for a short time, but it appears to have helped Obama get over his Hillary divisions really quickly uniting the Ds against Palin. Sometimes an instigator on the opposing team can help energize and focus an unfocused team. In this case it appears Obama and Biden are handling it well, and now their supporters are following their lead, bringing HRC supporters along with them. We shall see. The Republicans are great instigators and I expect the kitchen sink out of them. It will depend on how well the Dems can counter punch McCain's strike, spares and misses.
  8. Since I am only going on what Obama has said, take that for what it is worth. But he plans to balance the budget. Considering we are running the largest deficits in the history of the U.S., it is probably the best thing to do. Ending the war will add a benefit in reducing spending and he claims that he is going to use part of that tax increase to give the middle class a tax break. Depending how "Middle Class is defined, it may not be that much of an increase in revenue. This is what is on his campaign website on the topic: http://my.barackobama.com/page/invite/obamaandtaxes
  9. Thanks, How else do you respond to this but with humor. Glad you took it in the spirit that I wrote it in.
  10. They took it off You Tube: Go to the Daily Show's page: http://www.thedailyshow.com/full-episodes/...pisodeId=184108
  11. I miss him too, would have gotten a good argument from him. Please, so some Republican mole grabbed the flags going to other events and claimed they were being throw out and called FOX. That doesn't even pass the smell test. This is classic Gordon Libby Rat Fing stuff out of "All The President's Men". Dirty tactics in Campaigning. I admire it, made the Dems look bad even if untrue and they got a press hit out of it, but whatever.
  12. Yeh I know, Republican's are getting desperate. Kind of like this initial post. Now we know they are liars, cheats, and thieves. We have evidence! They had the gall to steal American Flags. Politics imitating A-ROD... Bush League, Better Yet Bush/MCSame league.
  13. Contract on American, yeh, I was there when it happened. It was an incredible p.r. piece. which predicated on conservative issues such as abortion couched as states' rights and took advantage of all the mistakes Dems had made after being in power for 40 years. The Dems got arrogant and caught with their pants down. Take a compliment when you can get it. Still with the angst thing. Down boy.
  14. I don't know about the grown up part. I am not sure anyone on this board can claim that status, but I agree with the rest. In fact the opposite was true. Abortion and family values combined with an aggressive anti-government campaign was why the Dems lost Congress in '94 after so many years in power.
  15. First off, I must say impressive post. I enjoyed it. Wish you had a little more self depreciated sense of humor, though, it might some of you response some credibility. As far grammar goes, my dyslexia kicks in always when I am tired and write fast, been dealing with all my life, anyway that is my excuse, stickin' to it, but nice insult. So lets see if I can tackle some of this: 1. There are people full of it on the volunteer side on both sides of the street. I know liberals as well as conservatives who don't practice the golden rule. I grew up volunteering, helping out people who need help and still do. I am teaching my children that too. Just because some don't do soup kitchens don't assume they don't help out. Although there are those. 2. Many churches advocate helping out, in fact mine does too and I agree that church/synogogue goers do help out disproportionately, but they are not all conservative. I know many liberal churches that do too. r 3. Hey, I am not denying the move.org and Michael Moore are over the top, but you are in denial if you don't think Fox News, O'Reilly, Rush Michael Savage, Hannity etc., are not full of it too. Never seen you even come close to acknowledging it. Please..... 4. I have a problem going out volunteering and doing anything other than volunteering. It is a requirement of a number of churches to go out and help out, which is wonderful, but then start preaching and converting folks. It is self-serving (in the church's case). It should be voluntary and stick to the singularness of purpose, helping out the poor. The rest church will show through. Otherwise it is a subtle coercive message, not, I believe what Jesus had in mind. 5. Do the math on her first pregnancy, I would have to go look up the specific dates, but they got married 8 months before he was born and it was an elopement. Nothing wrong in my opinion either way except that I have had too many rw knuckle draggers look down their noses at folks who have this happen. I am glad they got married and have had a good married. All marriages have issues. I only bring it up because of a rw double standard on the issue. Gets back to "hate the sin", but most of these folks also hate the sinner. They can't distinguish and that goes for liberals too. 6. Forcing a gay marriage agenda, please... I would be concerned if gays wanted extra rights. Call it what you want: marriage, civil union, I don't care, but under this Constitution everyone should be treated equally. I know some feel it is against their religion, so take the word marriage out of it if that is the way you feel, call it something else that everyone can be happy with. Short of saying something that I will regret, I will leave it at that. This probably doesn't help your angst any further, but when you learn some humility and self-depreciation, I will bet that you feel much more at ease with yourself and be more pleasant on this board. Peace!
  16. Forget about right or wrong. I have no idea half the time, I just like arguing. It is safer than killing each other, which is why democracy works!
  17. Not bad, that list took a lot of angst to construct. Many of that same list has a conservative yang to it... eg. Preach hate the sin, yet rwers condemn the sinner. Preach turn the other cheek, yet start an unjustified war in Iraq. Preach celibacy, yet the largest group of child predators are priests and ministers. Preach about saving one's sole and then demand money to do it. 80% of all volunteers of the poor are conservative... where is that figure coming from, some right wing church. There are many volunteers of the poor and I will be many don't answer the question unless they have an agenda such as the Mormons who go out and do it while prosthelitizing (sp). We were told to do it without taking credit for it, doing it as anonymously as possible... the humble way as JCWD. Whatever..... another damn poll. Moral deviancy, like the new VP nominee having a child conceived out of wedlock? There is plenty of hypocrisy to go around. Yes, the liberals have theirs, I could name a few more for you on that side. Oh you mean Gay, not my place to judge, besides, I know plenty of bad marriages and a number of gay relationships that are a lot more committed, loving and stable. Hate crimes... what do you mean by that? What? Where is your evidence, What are you talking about. As I said at the beginning, this list took a lot of angst. Find a good therapist, priest or minister. It would do you some good. Better yet, go kick the dog and have a beer.
  18. I usually bring that one up. Hmm, but I hear from Veterans for America says McCain wants to cut funding for PTSD support. Not sure if it is true, but at this age of McCain's life, he probably doesn't want to deal with it much more. Got to be quite the Albatross, but unlike Reagan, if he says we begin Bombing in 5 minutes, I think we should duck and cover. In that position it is easier to kiss our Palins goodbye.
  19. I once had to advocate for insuring wild AK Salmon for Sen. Ted Stevens inorder to expand a pilot program of insurance for some specialty crops that we were supporting. Only way he would go for the amendment. An insurance co we worked with claimed they could rate it, so we did it? This is the kind of fish we are talking about, wild salmon, insured. Probably did make a lot of money off it, they pay these guys pretty well. P.S. I here the GOP is holding off any interviews till after her son is deployed to Iraq. The media isn't buying it. She could have done some during the convention. They are buying time since this was such a last minute decision. They need to get her up to speed on issues and when asked specific questions not come off either not knowing or at least having a reasonable response to not knowing. or worse yet saying something in contradiction to John McCain. Also, fully researching her background and figure out how to deal with her skeletons.
  20. Yes, that or save a cow, eat a vegetarian. Hmm, I believe in choice, but only narrowly before the first tri-mester. Make it safe, legal and rare. Seriously, then how do you feel about the morning after pill. I admit, I am conflicted about the issue because I was adopted. But then again, I believe that women should make the decision. My attitude is if all women want to get together and outlaw abortion, that would be fine by me. As far as the death penalty, once again, I don't like the taking of a life, but under the current means we have at our disposal to deal with violent horrible acts of certain criminals, it may be the only responsible means as man we have for dealing with a bad situation and protect society. God will be the ultimate judge of us, how we carry these decisions out and our motives, non of which should be made lightly, cavalierly or out of vengeance.
  21. Check it out now, apparently he has a spotty record.
  22. Not sure, but I think the McCain camp and CNN are in a pissing match. They are going after Palin right now. Wonder what is up. But there is definitely and axe being ground here. It can't be good for the McCain camp, wonder if it dates back to that airline thing. The NY Times is an easy whipping boy for the GOP, but CNN is a different story.
  23. So another Republican exaggeration. McCain even misstated that it was sold for a profit. She said it was put on ebay, implying it was sold there. It was not, it was sold privately at a $600,000 loss. See CNN this evening. Welcome Palin, now that the press got set up on the baby thing, they are checking their facts and setting you up. Watch the exaggerations and implied accomplishments that are not real. I am sure there will be more. Next on CNN... Troopergate, the Trooper that Palin is going after, is being interviewed. Should be interesting.
  24. I do think he went too far and should still be docked for not being game ready. You know, he might have been able to avoid some of the negative press if he had just communicated a little bit. I am betting he is booed on the sidelines this week.
