Big line move to Bucks -10 this afternoon. Weird to see that type of move on gameday absent an injury or something similar.
-
Gameday! Not sure which Buckeye team will show up tonight; hopefully it's the Urban Meyer death machine instead of the version that spots opponents points on special teams and turnovers before even giving itself a chance to right the ship. As I mentioned above, OSU owes USC a beatdown. The Trojans are one of only two teams I can think of (the other being Clemson) that owns significant bragging rights over the Bucks. This is a great opportunity to settle some long-standing family business.

U of Tennessee search for a HC is a hot, #rogue mess

I think it's a funny bit of writing, that's all. Agree that the hire doesn't seem so bad in retrospect. -

The Woodbey announcement last night was a trainwreck from start to finish. I wish I could have that hour of my life back from Twitter. It's a strange feeling to be so happy about this class and yet so bummed about yesterday. Have I mentioned that Troy Vincent's kid looks like a complete animal? -

Ramzy Nasralla : "A mosquito floating down a river on its back with an erection screaming for someone to raise the drawbridge is equal parts delusion, arrogance and conceit. Tennessee's coaching search last month was that mosquito." -

Brutal that we have to see and hear trash like that until OSU pile-drives an elite program again. -

Huge win for Clemson pulling the top player in Ohio. OSU benefits greatly as a national presence in recruiting, and sometimes the emphasis on out-of-state talent means missing out on kids in its own backyard. Painful loss right there. Clemson is Ohio State's father and I hate it! Need a win against that program badly. -

Parsons stays home and signs with PSU. I wish that whole Oklahoma weekend never happened. -

Just pulled Proctor out of Oklahoma. No small task for a playmaking safety. -

LOIs pouring in for the Buckeyes. With all the drama in recent weeks, I had almost forgotten how psyched I am for Vincent, Ruckert, and Gil. #Supreme18 -

Baldwin just won the Texas State Championship - I'm sure Coach Day and the rest of the staff are happy to have him on board. But between Haskins and Baldwin, does this signal a move away from the zone-read/RPO offense? Martel seems tailor-made for Urban's offense, so it likely isn't gone for good, but it will be interesting to see the looks change over the next few years depending on which QB is in there. I also would not be surprised to see Emory Jones remain indecisive and end up honoring his commitment. Kid seems confused about what he wants to do. Lots of fans are concerned about DE. I'm sure with the historically great DT class coming in that someone will be able to move to the outside if necessary, and like you said if Jones comes back and makes that move then I'd consider the position pretty much stabilized. Also, LJ recently refuted the rumors about his retirement. -
Michigan is a revolving door for quarterbacks.

I saw on Twitter last night that schools are negative recruiting against OSU based on a tweet from Larry Johnson's son indicating that "pops" may retire soon. I wonder if that is having an impact, or if Cox just wanted to stay close to home and it's as simple as that. -
If Saquan Barkley really is a better NFL prospect than Zeke.

I just saw that Barkley won the Paul Hornung Award for being the most versatile player in the country. Well deserved. -
No argument there. Had OSU really blown the doors off Wisconsin in the B1G game, though, they might have snuck in. The opportunity to do that was there early on, and OSU's failure to take advantage was the nail in the coffin IMO.
-
Anyone who watched the B1G championship could see that the game should have been over in the first half, but OSU turnovers and JT missing wide open receivers let Wisconsin hang around. That's how to win a conference and fail an eye test. The SEC had a down year so putting two teams from that conference into the playoff is a bit of a joke to me, but I am not surprised at all to see the Buckeyes left out.

OSU owes USC an ass whopping. Hope this is it.

Watching Haskins on the zone read against Michigan was kind of comical. Even when the read plainly called for a QB keeper, Haskins was all "nope." He is there to throw the ball (and occasionally run) -- not get destroyed by Urban's offense the way Braxton and Barrett were.
-
Urban sounds like he's riding with JT no matter what (shocker). My guess is that JT will start the game on a short leash, and the coaches will just see how it goes.

Among the many unexpected events of 2017, Lane Kiffin rising to my favorite Twitter account ranks right up there. He's a savage. -
But he saw what happened when he fed Braxton instead of Hyde in the 2013 B1G championship. He saw what happened when he fed JT instead of Zeke in 2015. He saw what happened when he insisted on the JT runs down the stretch and into the playoff last year. He saw the Oklahoma game this year. He knows as well as anyone that the book on JT is to cover the RB on the RPO and force the QB to keep it. And after all that... even after he said he recognized the problem of having JT getting more carries than his RBs and issued a mandate to his coaches to fix it, there it was again against Michigan. Barrett left the game in the third quarter yet still ended up with as many carries as Dobbins and more than Weber. I don't understand why Urban calls that offense his "safety blanket" when it has a horrible track record in big games. Maybe it will work this time against Wisconsin--I truly hope it does if that's what he's going to do--but the thought of Barrett slamming into Bucky's D line all game gives me anxiety pains. Is there any chance he starts Haskins and tries to catch lightning in a bottle like he did in 2014? I think it's highly unlikely.
-
As this week goes on and I imagine Urban once again in a tight game calling JT runs to the left and right, I'm beginning to believe that OSU can easily lose to Bucky and all of the playoff talk will be for naught. I cannot understand--after all the losses, all the pain, all the "mandates"--why he went back to that against Michigan instead of just giving the ball to his tailbacks. It leaves me struggling to find optimism, but I guess that's just part of being a fan of this team.

Hung 40 on Georgia. Edit: sorry, misread it. LSU beat Auburn.

Auburn deserves all the credit in the world for the incredible late-season wins. I wonder how much stronger they are right now compared to when they lost by eight points to Clemson on Sept. 9.
