  1. OC, am I missing the connection or an inside joke WRT your avatar of Tim Russert with the Flutie Flakes and your quote underneath?
  2. Always nice to be able to run out the clock in baseball...
  3. Sounds like there is a lot of confusion as to what happened when. Here's the link to the coverage of the closest local paper (the Modesto Bee) I could find. LINK
  4. Tony Stark was heading into the party he was throwing but wasn't invited to, and he passed a guy in tux who had a trio of blonds around him, and Tony slapped him on the back and said something like "looking good, Hef" and when he turned around it was Stan Lee, not Hefner.
  5. As long as I don't see the words "Ben Affleck" anywhere near the project, then I think I could live with Damon.
  6. Agreed. I kinda like it, like Stephen King's cameos. it's a fun little in-theater Easter Egg - gives you something to look for. I liked Lee's "surprise" cameo in Iron Man - it was set up nicely and gave us a laugh.
  7. True, he didn't start the bad blood between the franchises, but he sure as heck lit the most recent fuse, kept it going, and now the Riverdancing moron is running his mouth at a time when, by most accounts, this latest round of bad blood should be done.
  8. Next series is at the end of this month -- June 30 - July 2 -- in Tampa. Looking forward to that one...
  9. You have to wonder how much the creative tug o' war between Marvel and Ed Norton hurt the story and movie.
  10. I think I've been guilty of doing a lot of those things, except for the drunk driving and makeup, and I know I've been lucky. I know one accident I had could be at least partially attributed to a cell phone, and I've been a lot more careful since then and try to limit how much I use my cell in the car, but haven't completely stopped.
  11. That's a fair statement. People on medication/prescriptions should also not be behind the wheel, just as people who let themselves be distracted by texting/cell phones/GPS units/eating/putting on makeup/paying attention to their kids. I'd be devastated if someone in my family was hurt by a drunk driver, but I would be just as pissed if an idiot hit someone because they were busy text messaging someone. /hijack
  12. The "strike zone" he employed during the NLCS was as bad a job of officiating as I've seen in any sport. MLB should have pulled him from the game in the 3rd inning. I would have been checking his bank accounts for money transfers from Livan Hernandez's people...
  13. ABC News just cut in with the story. Amen.
  14. Someone should tell that Riverdancing freak to STFU. His guy started it, the Rays ended it. It's over. Good job running your mouth, though - I'm sure the commissioners office will take that into account the next time you throw inside at a Ray, moron...
  15. Sounds about right to me.
  16. The death penalty is too good for a POS like that. Someone should handcuff him to a chair in a locked room and let the girl's father work him over for a few days. Don't kill him, just bust him up real bad, then let him heal for several months - then start the process all over again. Repeat as desired.
  17. The whining is starting in Cleveland, right now it's from the fans but I am expecting to hear a couple of the players start grumbling any time now....we just sent Cabrera down to Buffalo to find his swing and brought up Josh Barfield, but Barfield and Victor Martinez just joined Travis Hafner on the DL. So now our infield is Garko at 1st, Jamey Carroll at 2nd, the frustrating Peralta at SS and supersub Casey Blake at 3rd, with Kelly Shoppach behind the dish, and we have holes in at least two of the 3/4/5 spots. Awesome. EDIT: It goes from bad to worse. V-Mart will be out 6-8 weeks after having his elbow scoped and removal of "loose bodies" from the joint. Even with the back-to-back blown saves this week I'd still take Wagner at $10.5 million over Borowski @ $4M. JoeBlo is a walking blown save looking for a place to land.
  18. If you want to see a team that has been repeatedly kicking its fans in the junk pretty much all year, look at Cleveland. One year after taking Boston to Game 7 in the ALCS we are playing inconsistent, bad baseball. I'll see your "Wagner blown saves" and raise you one Joe Borowski, who is pretty much guaranteed to give Indians' fans an ulcer or heart attack by the end of the year. Raffy Betancourt is nowhere near the dominant reliever he was last year. The offense is dead last in the AL in BA and hits, and in the bottom third in most other categories. The starting pitching is the only thing that has kept this team anywhere near the AL Central race.
  19. Isiah Thomas. There's only so much the league can do to help the sorry cast of players Isiah has assembled in the Garden. While I find it harder to believe that the league has favorite franchises that they always want to win, I don't have any doubt that they could look at individual games/series/seasons and tweak things to favor one team or another, push the ratings up a little more here or there, or make sure a bigger market is still alive as long as possible. There's just too much money at stake for me to believe there aren't people in the league offices who want to make sure the business stays as profitable as possible for as long as possible, even if it means calling 200 fouls on the Celts in one game and then swinging back the other way in the next one.
  20. That makes three of us. Sorry for your loss, John. FWIW, I really like this little short story/poem.
  21. Thanks. Gonna have a little birthday lunch at the Winking Lizard...mmmmm.... That's true, so maybe I'll wait till the weekend. And since gas prices are so high I probably won't drive into Buffalo and run someone down on Chippewa - I'll have to do it here, maybe down in the Flats. Course that's gonna throw a wrench in the whole "pulling a gun on my father" dealio, but we'll find a way around that. Maybe I'll just verbally threaten him on the phone or send him an email with a pic of me holding the gun.
  22. Thanks to all...in honor of the Bills and this thread, I am going to have some Rolling Rocks and run down a pedestrian, then pull a gun on my father when he tells me to do the right thing and turn myself into the police. Cheers!
