  1. I haven't seen the replay since it actually happened, but IIRC, it looked like the helmet was loose near his head and Haynseworth kind of kicked it away from his head before he actually kicked his face. To me it looked like two motions - a sort of sweeping the helmet motion then the kick to the face, but again, I haven't seen the replay since it happened live...
  2. I thought the same thing, and it seemed like one of those stats that the pro-Holcomb camp would have thrown out in an pre-season debate...even as a Losman fan, I am not so naive as to think that without context, that stat means nothing, especially given that we have seen Losman make safe, short, check-down throws on 3rd & medium/3rd & long this year. I think the 3rd-down conversion stat is a little better, but that also begs for context...the one stat I thought Fox did well with today was showing how each team was doing with 3rd & less than X yards vs. how they did in 3rd and more than X yards. It really magnifies the concept that when a team makes mistakes on 1st & 2nd downs, it really puts the O at a big disadvantage when it comes to converting on 3rd down.
  3. Well, if they're going to start by regulating crowd noise as a home field advantage, then what's next? Requiring all teams to have a retractable-roof dome so teams from different climates don't struggle in weather they are unaccustomed to? Or maybe making all the games neutral-site games, where neither team has an overwhelming majority of its fans there to disrupt the game. Maybe we'll start small - let's make all the playoff games be played at neutral sites - after all, we wouldn't want bad weather or noisy fans to affect the outcome... At this rate, someday the only difference between the home & visiting teams will be the choice of uniforms and who calls the coin toss...
  4. They are hot, but I think it also helped that me & my friend worked in the sports information department at FSU when it happened, and the sister was also interning there, so it didn't take much to get the story to some of the beat writers and media. But it was probably b/c they are hot...
  5. That's the truth - my first year at Florida State, the team traveled to Hogtown to take on Florida...one of my buddies' sister went to the game with her friends - not only did we lose the game, but she returned to her car to find all four tires slashed, all b/c she had the nerve to have an FSU license plate frame. In all fairness, when the story hit the papers in Tallahassee and Gainesville, one of the Gator boosters called and offered to pay for the new tires, so it has a (somewhat) happy ending...
  6. My guess would be that if he DOES respond, it won't be anything but LQ- & P.R.-department approved talking points - or you'll get nothing at all...
  7. I've been saying the same thing over on The Sabres Report board - can you imagine if the Montreal, Boston, the Red Wings rolled out a logo as bad as this? Fans in those cities might actually storm the team's front office and string up the president and marketing people. I don't understand why we have to have this expansion team crap forced on us...
  8. I lived in Florida for five years and listened to some of the natives tell me how Publix was the best grocery store in the country, and how they have the best subs. Naturally, I tried to defend Wegmans' honor, but some of them Southerners can be pretty stubborn... BTW Publix isn't too bad, and their subs are not bad either, but they aren't even close to Wegmans... End thread hijack.
  9. I just saw the replay of the safety and I can't believe others haven't been saying the same thing - a 7-step drop from the 8? Why even take the chance of putting the QB near the goal line - you know, in case they bring a blitz, the center steps on the QB's foot, the RB can't pick someone up, runs into the QB - anything can happen. 3-5 step drop, get the ball out, if its not a good play, you can still punt. Again, it was a 7-step drop, and it should have been a play that called for a 3-5. Maybe part of the learning experience is for JP and Fairchild to both realize that a 7-step drop might not be the right call that close to the goal line, and JP can call a TO or check into something quicker - a quick slant, dive play - something to avoid the safety.
  10. WOIO (and almost every Internet TV Guide) in Cleveland listed the Bills game as our 1:00 CBS game; when the game started, they went to KC-Cincy, so we had to scramble to get to Buffalo Wild Wings, and arrived with the Bills already up 7-0...BASTARDS!
  11. Friggin' CBS Sportsline scorebaord shows BG 34, UB 27 Final OT...I wish they'd catch up.
  12. But, but but...he spent A LOT of TIME with both teams this offseason, and alll the veterans will tell him off the record about their love for KH (but he can't find one guy to go on record and say it.) Friggin' tool... Wow, he really HATES JP, doesn't he?
  13. FWIW, the news stations here in Cleveland have been reporting that Bucky might have made his way into NE Ohio, into Ashtabula County.
