  1. I liked Publix in Florida. Some stores were great, some were terrrible - in that respect it reminded me of Tops mid-90's. We shopped in Harris Teeter in the Raleigh area when we went to the Sabres-Canes ECF game in '06...I was amazed as how similar it was to Wegman's. The Winn Dixie stores were also pretty bad. We had two or three nearby in Orlando and they all sucked. The Albertson's I saw (and rarely patronized) in Florida were in the same areas as Publix and Winn Dixie stores yet they were still open for business, so I wonder how much is location. I'm sure location is a factor, but you'd think that the other chains in the same area would knock them out. Going into a Publix then going into an Albertson's were like night-and-day different - Public was like a real grocery store and Albertson's was like a bigger version of a highway gas station/convenience mart.
  2. I just don't understand how a store stays open with high prices, bad service, terrible selection, and a "piss on the customer" attitude from management.
  3. Immunity to what? Bad customer service, piss-poor selection and sticky floors?
  4. QFT. Albertson's is also in Florida, and when we lived in Tallahassee and Orlando there was no way we'd shop there unless we absolutely had no other choice. Even the Winn Dixie stores were better than Albertson's, and Winn Dixie is disgusting.
  5. Of course the neighbors are making the argument that since she's dead, the apartment should be divided among the remaining tenants - you know, to justify why they broke in in the first place...
  6. I did. I don't think it's the first time we've noticed Wegman's products on the show. EDIT: Found this link to a Syracuse.com blog that talks about some of the other Wegman's products that have appeared in The Office.
  7. "Who...do you think you are?" "What...gives you the right?"
  8. I don't know...looks pretty fishy to me too, just going off a pic of an autographed ball from Jim's site. (I have a Kelly autographed card that is in storage somewhere at my parents' house.) Looking at this pic of an autographed ball on Jim's official site (click to enlarge) there seems to be a big difference in the "Jim" and the last name on the eBay ball looks like it was signed while Jim was driving on a bumpy road. Just my two cents, but I'd pass on that eBay ball - but then again, I won't usually pay for an autographed item unless I am 100% of the seller's veracity and the authenticity of the item/signature.
  9. Loved the running gags Dwight set up about Kevin being slow.
  10. Tonight's show was pretty good, I was really shocked at the last three seconds. Can't believe Andy unknowingly c-blocked Jim like that.
  11. Absolutely brutal in Tally that time of year. I do not miss that one bit.
  12. Giant Eagle (here in Ohio and Pennsylvania) has the same program, but they give you 10 cents off for each $50 you spend (vs. Tops' $100) and they run deals where they double the Gas Perks on gift cards sold in store. Right now we have about $1.30 in gas savings but whenever we shop somewhere else - like going to Toys R Us for stuff for our son - we stop at GE to get the gift card and earn the fuel perks, so it adds up quick. Our receipt showed we saved a couple hundred bucks using the program last year. I worked in Tops for a long time and to me there is no comparison - Wegman's blows Tops out of the water in just about everything - quality, prices, shopping environment. Looking at the Wiki entry for Tops, it says that Morgan Stanley Private Equity bought the Tops chain from Ahold. Are they a local subsidiary of Morgan Stanley? I have no problem with Wegman's being Rochester-owned.
  13. We just had a few ACME stores open up here in the Cleveland area...there has been a serious lack of competition for Giant Eagle since Tops sold off and closed all their markets in NE Ohio. So far the wife has nothing but good things to say about them... What he said.
  14. They are reluctant to go to Howard down the stretch because his FT shooting is so bad (career 60% FT shoot, was around 54% in the playoffs this year) and as was noted earlier in the thread, Hedo has been "Mr. 4th Quarter" this year for the Magic - although he made some very bad decisions and took some very bad shots in the playoffs. Even though Dwight has been dominant at times this year, he is still very young and raw. Right now he is just that much more athletic than most of the league, which is why he plays so well for much of the season. It's not surprising that he struggles against teams like Detroit, who have three, four big, physical, athletic guys to rotate in and out against him, bang him around and employ the "Hack-a-Shaq" strategy.
  15. I liked Barkley when he played and LeBron has that same "train barreling down the tracks" mentality Chuck had when he drove the basket...plus his court vision is unreal, some of the passes he makes leaves me shaking my head.
  16. I'm just south of Cleveland, so the Cavs are my de facto "second favorite" team. Always fun watching LeBron.
  17. Understandable. No harm no foul.
  18. BillsFanNC might have covered this in his PM, but from what I remember from my brief time at a Toyota dealership, you can "credit shop" for a vehicle or home loan within a certain time period where multiple inquiries to your credit don't ding your credit - they count it as one. EDIT: Found this at bankrate.com: LINK When you're comparison shopping for a car loan or a home mortgage, multiple loan applications that are grouped together in a short period of time don't negatively impact your credit score. That's because it's obvious that you're comparison shopping and that you don't plan on taking out seven car loans -- or seven mortgages. To keep comparison shopping from negatively impacting your credit score, the loan applications should be within the 30-day period prior to scoring. The myFICO.com Web site has a page devoted to credit inquiries that includes a section on comparison shopping and your credit score.
  19. Didn't really read past the first 1/2 of the first sentence, did you?
  20. I forget where I heard it/read it, but one of the media covering the series said the best thing for Orlando would be to get a true, strong power forward to give Howard some inside help, keep Hedo at SF, move Rashard Lewis to SG and have Evans and Bogans come off the bench. I tend to agree, because you could see Hedo and Lewis were overmatched against the Pistons as they played out of position.
  21. Maybe someone could forward a copy of these articles to Don Fehr, who said the MLBPA is going to "look into" why Bonds was still unemployed at this point in the season and hasn't received any offers.
  22. The officials once again let the Pistons get away with beating up on Howard late in tonight's game, but that was far from the reason they got eliminated. They couldn't hit a free throw, turned the ball over like crazy, and the Pistons generally played with much more poise and confidence than Orlando. I am hoping that it was a great learning experience for the Magic, because some guys were absolutely awful at times tonight - bad decisions with the ball, bad shot selections, not boxing out and standing around watching the Pistons grab a ton of offensive rebounds. Hedo, once again, drove me nuts. In this series he looked pretty much nothing like the guy we've seen play most of the year. I still think they are a pretty good team, they just played with a lot of immaturity at times. Need to get a little more help for Howard inside and maybe a veteran to come in and settle the young guys down when they get all hyper.
  23. Looking through my digital pics it appears that I did get a shot of the Bills' display (with OJ's jersey) but I never noticed the plaque until you pointed it out in your photo.
  24. Fair enough - as Nanker said, getting it right it what matters and I was just making sure we were talking about the same things. (Insert obligatory LSI "thumbs up" here ." True. I kind of quickly skimmed over the explanation at the top of the "enshrinees by franchise" page, so I didn't catch it all. Despite being 20 minutes from the Hall our last visit was about a year ago. I don't recall seeing the plaques with the team names and their respective enshrinees - but then again I was with my wife, parents and had my then-four-month-old son with us, so I am sure I missed some cool stuff.
