  1. I never said Schefter isn't a complete moron, or that you should follow his every word, but this idea that Marrone isn't thought of as a potential HC in this league by other teams just because he took an opt out clause in his contract is just Bills fans going through the "jilted Ex phase" And as i said earlier, how many other HC candidates have been passed over for 12 other openings? How many teams passed on Jackson and Gase last season? Schwartz and Roman haven't even been asked for interviews for HC positions and they are guys Bills fans want running the team here. As I pointed out, a bunch of the positions this year already had guys in place that were rumored as the top choice either before or at the time of the last HC being fired. The fact that there are teams interviewing him and he is being considered in some cases show that he isn't blacklisted like some wish
  2. I wouldn't be shocked to find out the league rigged the system to get the magical rematch for SB 50 to be the same as SB 1 I also wouldn't have a problem with it because it would mean no Pats and that they would have been knocked out this weekend (which I think will happen anyway.....) I think it would be harder to believe GB making it in this season then KC. true, its 49 years, but its the first SB and the 50th SB No one is celebrating Super Bowl 51, or making it any more special then SB 33, 47, 21, etc.
  3. that has to be a first, a HC candidate being passed over for a HC job 12 times? Don't most candidates get hired by the first team looking to interview them? And why would his agent drop him for tAking advantage of a clause the was probably negotiated into his contract by that agent? It's also an agents job to prop the guy up and get him as many interviews as possible. A bunch of the jobs had already had "favorites" in place at the time of firing the previous guy. It was widely reported that 1. Koetter would get the Tampa job when the fired Love. (Some where saying its why they fired Lovie cause they didn't want to lose him) 2. Macadoo would be getting the Giants job because the Giants like to promote in house. 3. The Saints kept Payton where Maroone was listed as a potential option 4. Tennessee would be the same situAtion he was in here in Buffalo with a new ownership coming in, and it's been reported for a while they would probably stick with Mularky until the new owners are in place and can chose themselves. 5. The 49ers went with a big proven name, and the dolphins and Browns went with the hot Co-ordinator candidate. 6. The Eagles look like they are going with a Co-ordinator with previous ties to the franchise as a QB. Its not like he isn't getting interest like the award winning top Co-ordinator Roman, or everyone's hero Schwartz. No one outside of the jilted Bills fans who are upset cause their ex left them before they could dump them themselves care about how he left or think he is some scumbag for taking advantage of an option given to him in his deal. Players have opt out deals in their contracts all the time and fans don't think of them as horrible people for using them.
  4. Well you can add Vikings fan to this list too now........
  5. throw in the fact that no one knows what was said between the players and Porter. If they had just gotten into a scrum over some comments with no pushing or shoving it wouldn't have been an issue. The problem was the scumbag Pacman decided to try and go through a ref to throw a punch. That's what the flag was for you can't make contact with an official, you can't throw punches in a game at another player. Whether Porter is standing on the field saying something where league rules allow him to be in that situation, or on the sidelines saying something doesn't matter. Even if he is saying something trying to get them to do something, what's the difference between that and a QB trying to draw players offside?
  6. not that I am disagreeing, but the reasoning is that making a catch is considered a process, when a RB crosses the goal line they already are in possession of the ball. The WR making a catch has to first have possession of the ball in order for the rest of the play to be valid. Otherwise you could argue that all a player in the endzone receiving a throw has to do is touch a pass with his feet down and it's a TD
  7. Burfict lined up Brown and was a definition of head hunting. The second penalty was for Jones making contact with an official while trying to go after Porter. The first penalty was well deserved, the second was debatable I. That they could have also went after the Steelers for instigating it, but we do t K of what was said out there and what really happened.
  8. well the owner allowed his GM to sign scumbags like Burfict and Pacman, the deserve this. Then throw in the classy fans showing their class while Ben's being taken off the field. If I'm Lewis I'm resigning and getting out of that place ASAP
  9. Well a report with the Miami herald has said that Marrone was Tannenbaums top choice at first until they interviewed Gase, unless that's just Schefters brain washing?
  10. This is all assuming others wanted the job. This doesn't surprise me, everyone here keeps talking about continuity, but when it's another team that's keeping someone around to possibly keep some continuity on Their staff and scheme, they are called a joke and laughed at. I'm not surprised they kept him, there was alot of talk going on that no o e would want the Titan job right now cause of the ownership situation that may change soon, so they keep the interim guy until a new owner comes in and they can decide what to do.
  11. is it legal in Buffalo? the date was just what the Jays have in place for Gibbons, their manager, not for what Whaley might get in this hypothetical situation.......
  12. do you think the fans in Cleveland would ask for another team from the NFL if Haslam took them somewhere else? I'm surprised no one started a crowd fund to get enough money together to pay the relocation fee for Haslam to move the team to LA OK, I wasn't completely sure, I couldn't remember from the movie when 'moneyball' took place. I believe Shapiro was with Cleveland for atleast 15 years. Really wish he would have stayed.... Unfortunately Rogers just had to get themselves some of that sweet winning success that the Indians have had for so long.....
  13. . I know, really, what's the worst that could happen, the Browns are a dumpster fire and the clean house in 2 years? not sure, I don't think Shapiro was with the Indians back when Depodesta was there but I could be wrong.
  14. separate ones or together? And sex tapes in who's opinion? I mean, a video of Whaley walking around the office barefoot or in flip flops or sandals could be porn for Rexy
  15. Just playing devils advocate here, but is it also possible that TP gave Rex and ultimatum and not Whaley? Or they are giving Whaley the extension, with a provision in it that it only comes into affect if they make the playoffs this year? And for those that are saying you can't fire a coach one year in, your saying the Chud in Cleveland and Tomsula in SF would have been good coaches if given more then 3 years or more?
  16. Well apparently this is the second year in a row they tried hiring a baseball guy for their head office. Last year they tried to get former Indians/current Jays president Shapiro to join the front office. UnfortunAtely for Jays fAns he didn't take the Browns job......
  17. that's because good teams don't have to, they are good with good people running them.... Rex didn't come here in a normal situation where he had to rebuild a losing team like most new coaches. He was handed a nice situation where he was handed a top defence and a 9-7 team that just needed to improve the offence. This team took 2 steps back instead of one step forward. No one would be chasing Rex out of here if they had missed the playoffs but still had a great defence and just had to tweak the offence some more. Now we have a defence needs to be rebuilt to his scheme and one of the most undisciplined teams in the league, ever....
  18. unfortunately it's Rex, he's more likely to just try to find a bigger hammer.....
  19. Well, Vegas would probably give the Browns better odds (or just as good) at winning a World Series Championship next season as a Superbowl now
  20. They were handed a team that was a decent offence away from being a playoff team last year and the season instead turned into a train wreck because they were undisciplined and the coach thought it was better to fix what wasn't broke and wreck a perfectly good defence. I don't blame the owner (I actually respect him more now) by taking this stand and saying we aren't going to waste more years trying to rebuild again, you were handed something that only needed some tweaking and you screwed it up, your not going to be given a ton of time to fix it before we get someone else in to do it. This may also have to do with the rumors that Whaley and Rex were on separate pages and don't agree with each other. It's a way for TP to get them to work together or they are shown the door. If I'm TP and Whaley talk yesterday about FA is true that they will mostly be dealing with getting their players re-signed, this could be more of a shot at Rex to work with the talent you have and adjust your scheme to what will work instead of giving him free reign to rip apart what was good and have a couple years to get it back to what it was. I would assume that if this is true, Rex may have blown some smoke up their backsides in his interview and told them he would make this defence work with what they have.
  21. or this report is BS. Unless they have taken cues from the Blue Jays in Toronto and are going to give Whaley a revolving open ended contract like their manager has where if he isn't fired before January he had an additional year added to his deal (so he is never in the final year of his deal)
  22. Co-ordinator of the year? I would think it is debatable. He was better then some of the previous guys here, but I didn't see him do anything really great that would make me think he was the best guy in the league this year. This big difference here this year was the offence finally had some improved talent and wasn't ignored in the off season like it was in previous years
  23. wait for what? I never said he is going to do it, I was responding to you saying that a czar has to be an executive. A czar is going to run the team making decisions, there job would be to advise the owner on what issues he may see with the organization and help them with ideas how to fix it. He isn't going to be signing players or running the team, he will be telling the owner that it may be wiser to keep the current defence intact and suit the scheme to what they have over blowing it up to rebuild it. The Czar role is an advisory position
  24. who says a football czar has to be an executive? It could be a former coach, even a former player, all that matters is that they know the game well and know what's needed to be a winner. Coughlin may want to continue coaching,he may be willing to move into an executive type position, who knows. But that doesn't mean he couldn't be a good football czar for a team. He been around football a long time and won in this league. He's also been a part of a very well run organisation for a long time.
  25. It's more likely he comes back then Schwartz or Peppers. I doubt he gets a HC gig and there's no guarAntee he gets a DC gig too. I could see him agreeing to come back to work with Rex IF it's his best offer as it could allow him to show his stuff again as a DC to get consideration for another HC gig, he won't get one without going back to being a DC. I would put my money on Thurman staying, if on the small chance Rex let's him go, I would put my money on Rob coming in as the next DC first
